Daegu FC vs. Suwon Samsung Bluewings Betting Preview – K League 1, June 21

Two clubs looking to really kick into the new season meet on Sunday as the Bluewings make the trip down south to take on Daegu.

The home side has seen a definite upturn in results in the last couple of weeks but will face a determined opponent here. You can find my thoughts below with my Daegu FC vs. Suwon Samsung Bluewings prediction and betting pick.

Daegu has still only lost the one game this season, so it could be argued that the Sky Blues should possibly be odds on to win a home game against a Suwon side that sits in the bottom half of the table. But that only makes the price for a home win even more attractive here.

The 2-2 draw with Busan in the week was a definite step back for Daegu after it had started to be able to see off opponents. There have been too many draws already this season, and manager Lee Byeong-geun will not be happy with the way his team threw away the three points right at the end.

The previous two victories — especially the incredible thrashing of FC Seoul — had suggested that Daegu had found its stride, so winning just a point against a newly promoted side should be classed as a disappointment. That being said, the players should be confident of beating Suwon at home.

The Bluewings continue to be inconsistent this year but did manage its second win of the season on Tuesday when it beat Seongnam 2-0 away from home. After the late goal that won a point against Gangwon in the game previous to that, there should be a good feeling around the club right now.

Equally important is Adam Taggart getting his first goal of the season in that midweek victory. The Australian striker is usually seen as the main goal threat for the Bluewings, and his inability to get on the scoresheet before this week will have worried the rest of the team.

There was a feeling that Suwon would be able to improve on the disaster of last season and once again compete in the upper reaches of K League 1 this year. That may still happen, but this is a team that could really do with going on a winning streak. I’m not sure that will happen this weekend and will go with Daegu here instead, as I think the odds look good for a home win.
