Cactus Tour Betting Preview – Can Mina Harigae Go Back-to-Back?

The female golfers in Arizona keep trucking along.

The Cactus Tour resumes action this week at Desert Canyon Golf Club, a stunning oasis located in the outskirts of Scottsdale. After dismantling Longbow Golf Club last week to the tune of shooting 24-under-par, Mina Harigae arrives as the slight betting favorite. The 30-year-old pro will need to keep her foot on the gas pedal in order to fend off the likes of Sophia Popov and Haley Moore, along with a bevy of other talented individuals.

I’ll begin this betting preview with the Cactus Tour odds.

Are we set for a two-horse race between Harigae and Popov at Desert Canyon? The top golf sportsbooks online clearly think so, but I’m saying not so fast.

There are a number of highly skilled golfers who are more than capable of walking away with the trophy. In fact, studying the Cactus Tour odds reveals there’s actually some sincere value to be had.

Sophia Popov has won two of the last three events on the Cactus Tour. Mina Harigae obliterated the field last week at Longbow and is a seasoned veteran with more than $1.7 million in LPGA earnings.

However, Haley Moore has quietly been going about her business and offers legitimate value at +450. Don’t just take my word for it; have a glimpse at what the 21-year-old Arizona grad has been up to during her last three starts on the Cactus Tour.

The current LPGA Tour member won twice on the Cactus Tour Event last season, not to mention hoisted the hardware at the 2019 California State Women’s Open.

Additionally, one of the best golf betting sites installed Haley at +300 to win Desert Canyon, so even the bookmakers agree that she’s a genuine contender.

Once you take a look at Veronica Joels’ recent form, you’ll quickly notice that her +4000 price tag is worth some serious consideration. Rather than sit at home and sulk when the remainder of her college season was canceled, Joels has been steadily grinding.

The rising junior at UNLV has settled into a nice rhythm on the Cactus Tour as of late, ripping off three consecutive top-8 finishes. Veronica drives the golf ball on a string, and red numbers in five of her last six rounds tell me her short game is intact.

If Joels can warm up her flat stick and stay committed throughout her rounds, she should be in the hunt.

It’s hard to ignore Sophia Popov, a 27-year-old German who is a sizzling 37-under-par in her last two events. Then again, Mina Harigae racked up 24 birdies and an eagle during last week’s 54-hole event and won by nine shots.

To reiterate the type of “zone” Mina was in, know that she closed with a bogey-free 65, which was her highest round of the week (63-64-65). The California native should have no problem carrying the positive vibes into Desert Canyon, plus the bookies will lay the juice for us.

In other words, latching onto Harigae at +120 has “green-light special” written all over it.
