Borussia Dortmund vs. Hoffenheim Bundesliga June 27

It has been an ultimately frustrating season for Dortmund, but there are good signs for next year.

The Yellow-Blacks finish off this campaign against a Hoffenheim side still with something to play for. I detail my thoughts below with my Borussia Dortmund vs. Hoffenheim prediction and betting pick.

Latest Odds for Borussia Dortmund vs. Hoffenheim

Borussia Dortmund to Win-130
The Draw+295
Hoffenheim to Win+295

The BetOnline sportsbook has made Dortmund the favorite to win its last game of the season at home. But there are a number of reasons why the odds for a more favorable result for Hoffenheim might be worth looking into. With no fans to cheer them on, Lucien Favre’s side may not be as up for this one as the visitors.

Borussia Dortmund vs. Hoffenheim Match Preview

When Dortmund won 2-0 at Leipzig in the week, thanks to two goals from Erling Braut Haaland, it cemented its second-place finish behind perennial champions Bayern. That is an achievement in itself but another source of frustration for a club that wants to win the league again.

This game now doesn’t really mean anything to the home side, and that might have a big effect on how the players perform. Without the need for points — or even a favorable reception from the famous Westfalenstadion crowd — it might be difficult for Dortmund to raise interest levels.

But Hoffenheim still has a lot to play for. European qualification was attained in the week with the 4-0 thumping of Union Berlin. That game saw Hoffenheim struggle for possession before virtually finishing it as a spectacle thanks to three unanswered goals before half time.

But there is still the question of what round Hoffenheim will enter next season’s Europa League. At the moment, it will need to navigate some qualifying rounds. But if it manages to leapfrog Wolfsburg in the table, it will finish sixth and go directly into the group stage.

Prediction and Pick

  • The Draw

Any other time of the season, I would not hesitate in predicting a fairly comfortable Dortmund win here. But the home side will have one eye on the summer break, while Hoffenheim will be fighting for the points. I still don’t think the visitors can come away with all three, but a draw is possible.
