What you Need to Know

  • UFC 255 is set for November 21st, 2020, at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
  • The event is headlined by a men’s flyweight title fight between champion Deiveson Figueiredo and challenger Alex Perez
  • The co-main event sees women’s flyweight titleholder, Valentina Shevchenko, clashing with Jennifer Maia.
  • Brandon Moreno vs. Alex Perez is scrapped due to Perez getting the title shot. Moreno will now face Brandon Royval on the undercard.

UFC 255 Predictions

  • Figueiredo to Beat Perez by KO/TKO
  • Shevchenko to Beat Maia by Decision
  • Perry to Beat Means by KO/TKO
  • Calvillo to Beat Chookagian by Decision
  • Craig to Beat Rua by Decision
  • Royval to Beat Moreno by Submission
  • Wright to Beat Buckley by KO/TKO
  • Lipski to Beat Antonia Shevchenko by KO/TKO
  • Rodriguez to Beat Dalby by Submission
  • Gooden to Beat Jouban by KO/TKO
  • Daukaus to Beat Stoltzfus by Decision
  • Cosce to Beat Palatnikov by KO/TKO

As things stand, I have Deiveson Figueiredo beating Alex Perez by way of KO/TKO.

In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko should have too much for Jennifer Maia. Shevchenko is just another level and is heavily favored to defend her title as a result.

Royval to beat Moreno by submission is a good bet, given his highly dangerous submission game.

Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Alex Perez

Figueiredo makes the first defense of his UFC flyweight title against the tough, #4 ranked 125-pounder, Alex Perez.

Perez replaces former bantamweight champ Cody Garbrandt, who has pulled out of the fight. Garbrandt was aiming to become just the second fighter after Henry Cejudo to win both the bantamweight and flyweight titles.

So, what are Perez’s chances on the night? Well, he is a very tough fighter with solid fundamentals. He has first-round finishes over Jordan Espinosa and Jussier Formiga in 2020, and there are few complaints about him getting shot.

Perez has only lost once in the UFC, to former multiple-time title challenger Joseph Benavidez. He lost that fight by first-round TKO in November 2018. Benavidez, of course, lost twice to Figueiredo. He was knocked out in the second round of their first fight before being submitted in the first round in their rematch that saw Figueiredo crowned champ.

I believe Figueiredo is too powerful and simply the better all-round fighter in this matchup. I predict he beat Perez by KO/TKO.
