Betting Preview for WrestleMania Backlash 2021
It’s time for the next PPV event on the WWE calendar. WrestleMania Backlash 2021 is scheduled for Sunday, May 16.
We already have six confirmed matches on the fight card. That gives me more than enough reasons to share my WrestleMania Backlash preview.
This post includes my analysis and predictions for all confirmed bouts, the latest odds available online, and a list of top WrestleMania Backlash betting sites.
How and Where to Bet on WrestleMania Backlash
The trusted 2021 WrestleMania Backlash betting sites with real money above offer high odds and generous promotions for the show, alongside other general perks like top-notch safety, fast payments, and excellent sportsbook apps.
If you need more information about the best WWE Backlash sportsbooks online and tips that can improve your gambling strategy for the show, I recommended you check out our WWE Backlash betting guide for the event.
Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman
The WrestleMania Backlash odds for the triple threat match between Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Braun Strowman for the WWE Championship are yet to be released.
I assume that online bookmakers are having a hard time calculating the probabilities behind this one.
It’s a tough task, no doubt about it. I was surprised when Bobby Lashley beat Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37 and I expect the Scotsman to eventually reclaim the title.
It looked like that might be WWE’s plan when he earned to right to face Lashley at WrestleMania Backlash 2021 after an epic win in a triple threat against Randy Orton and Strowman.
And yet, McIntyre then lost against Strowman and another triple threat is on the cards for Backlash. I still believe that the Scotsman should be the favorite and the whole storyline is leading to the title for him.
I don’t think that WWE would push Strowman in this direction and Lashley always looked like a place-holder. I expect the belt to return to McIntyre and a potential new feud should begin soon.
- My Pick: Drew McIntyre to win
Bianca Belair vs. Bayley Odds and Prediction
The top sites for betting on WrestleMania Backlash view Bianca Belair as a massive favorite in the clash against Bayley for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.
The reigning champion won the belt at WrestleMania 37 by beating Sasha Banks, but she was challenged by The Role Model shortly after.
WWE confirmed that the two would meet at WrestleMania Backlash later in April.
I’m not sure what the plans of the organization are, but this feud might continue for a while. Belair has been heavily promoted this year, winning the WWE Royal Rumble and the title at WrestleMania.
I think she would have to be beaten soon, so a potential return and revenge storyline can be used at some point in the future.
It might be a bit early for a loss, but the price of +550 for Bayley is way too high. The longest-serving female champion is a perfect foe for Belair and a win for The Role Model could open the door for more action between the two by the end of 2021.
- My Pick: Bayley to win (+550)
Rhea Ripley vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair
There’s another triple threat match on the WrestleMania Backlash schedule, this time for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.
Asuka lost the belt against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 37 and tried to reclaim it immediately after The Show of Shows.
Her attempt failed after the returning Charlotte Flair interrupted the rematch to join the show. The three wrestlers have been going at it since to the point we heard Asuka curse in English for the first time.
Despite all the hype building, it’s currently tough to predict what’s going to happen. There’s a good case to be made that Charlotte would win this one. She fits the role of a villainess perfectly and the referee accident proves it.
At the same time, Rhea Ripley is young and has plenty of potential. The fans like her and a strong title run would make a lot of sense.
Finally, we have a proven star like Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow is adored by many and another championship run won’t be a huge surprise.
Picking a winner here is probably one of the hardest WrestleMania Backlash predictions, but my money is on Charlotte. The fans don’t want her to earn the belt, so WWE would use that to generate even more hatred and bank on it by the end of the year.
- My Pick: Charlotte Flair to win
The Dirty Dawgs vs. Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio
I don’t think that anyone was shocked by Rey Mysterio’s return to pro wrestling and WWE’s decision to pair him up with his son Dominik. The duo has been promoted slowly and the response of the fans was positive.
That’s why a title shot felt imminent and the Mysterios will face The Dirty Dawgs at WrestleMania Backlash 2021.
Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode currently hold the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship, but they’re not exactly the biggest fan favorites.
I believe that the organization will be looking for something new and there’s another subtle hint that might be pointing at a win for Rey and Dominik.
The promotion’s original fight announcement states that they could become the first father and son Tag Team champions in WWE history.
It looks like the writing is on the wall for this one and I’m eagerly waiting to see the betting odds of the bookies. If the price is good, backing the Mysterios might be one of the best WrestleMania Backlash betting picks available.
- My Pick: Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio to win
Roman Reigns vs. Cesaro Betting Odds and Analysis
The next clash in my WrestleMania Backlash preview is between Roman Reigns and Cesaro for the WWE Universal Championship. The betting sites obviously favor the champion and I’m not exactly shocked.
In fact, it’s a weird feud that started seemingly from nowhere and WWE didn’t manage to build enough momentum so far. Cesaro just ended his feud with Seth Rollins and earned the title shot in the process.
I’m not sure what to expect here, but this match looks like an attempt to keep Roman Reigns busy, while the promotion figures out what to do with the superstar next.
On the other hand, Cesaro has been pushed by WWE this year and he just won his first WrestleMania match about a month ago. A title and a long feud with Roman Reigns might be the way to go for him?
I still prefer to back the champion, but I must admit I’m confused by the direction of this storyline, so I can’t recommend any betting picks.
Damian Priest vs. The Miz Preview and Prediction
The feud between Damian Priest and The Miz started at the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble and is still going strong.
Rapper Bad Bunny joined the show for WrestleMania to back Priest against his rival and John Morrison, winning a Tag Team match.
The celebrity has left WWE since then to pursue other ventures, but the feud between the wrestlers continued and another match for WrestleMania Backlash was announced.
Priest beat Morrison to earn the right to pick the stipulation and he decided to go for a Lumberjack match.
If you don’t know what that is, let me elaborate real quick. It’s a standard one-on-one match, but the ringside area is surrounded by other wrestlers, so no one gets in or out until the fight is over.
That should block John Morrison from helping his partner. The logical outcome would be to back Damian Priest under such circumstances and this should finally put this feud to rest.
- My Pick: Damian Priest to win
