Betting Odds Update and Prediction for the 2022 La Liga Season

Who will win La Liga in 2022? Well, if the latest La Liga odds are anything to go by, Real Madrid already has one hand on the trophy.
With 12 games remaining this season, Carlo Ancelotti’s men are in pole position to secure the title. But with 36 points still up for grabs, Sevilla, Barcelona, and other teams in the chasing pack will fancy their chances of upsetting the 2022 La Liga title odds.
In this La Liga betting update, I will be assessing the latest odds at the top La Liga betting sites. I will also analyze all the favorites and sleepers before sharing my La Liga prediction for the 2022 title.
Let’s get the ball rolling by checking out the current La Liga odds.
Odds Update for La Liga in 2022
Here are the latest La Liga winner odds, courtesy of the Betway sportsbook. If you know who you want to bet on based on these odds, feel free to visit Betway to place your bets now. With only a third of the La Liga 2022 season fixtures remaining, Betway has prices for just seven teams to win the title, of course.
As you can see, Real Madrid (1.10) is the out-and-out favorite to lift the trophy. When we examine the La Liga table in the next section, you will understand why Real Madrid’s La Liga title odds are low.
Sitting six points behind Real Madrid, Sevilla (13.00) is viewed as the only other realistic contender. Granted, Julen Lopetegui’s men are not La Liga favorites. But they still stand a genuine chance of finishing atop the standings.
Barcelona (46.00) enjoys a remarkable resurgence and heads into Round 27 on a ten-game unbeaten streak. Although the Catalans are 15 points off the pace, they have a game in hand over their rivals.

This is where the 2022 La Liga championship odds get a little crazy.
Real Betis (501.00) currently sits one point ahead of Atletico Madrid (101.00). Even so, the La Liga oddsmakers favor the defending champions over Betis.
Just like Betis, the La Liga title odds for Villarreal (501.00) and Real Sociedad (501.00) are astronomical. Although they remain in contention for the top prize, they would need a minor miracle to close the gap at this stage.
Current Look at the 2022 La Liga Standings
We need to assess the current La Liga standings to fully understand the bookies’ La Liga winner betting odds. You can find the latest La Liga table below.
CURRENT LA LIGA STANDINGS (TOP 10) | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Team | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal Difference | Points |
Real Madrid | 26 | 18 | 6 | 2 | +32 | 60 |
Sevilla | 26 | 15 | 9 | 2 | +21 | 54 |
Real Betis | 26 | 14 | 4 | 8 | +16 | 46 |
Barcelona | 25 | 12 | 9 | 4 | +18 | 45 |
Atletico Madrid | 26 | 13 | 6 | 7 | +13 | 45 |
Villarreal | 26 | 11 | 9 | 6 | +22 | 42 |
Real Sociedad | 25 | 11 | 8 | 6 | 0 | 41 |
Athletic Club | 26 | 9 | 10 | 7 | +4 | 37 |
Valencia | 26 | 8 | 9 | 9 | –4 | 33 |
Celta Vigo | 26 | 8 | 8 | 10 | +1 | 32 |
As it stands, Real Madrid is in pole position. Los Blancos find themselves six points clear of second-place Sevilla, having lost two of their 26 matches this season.
Let’s not forget that Sevilla has also suffered only two defeats this term. Of course, the Andalusia outfit has drawn three games more than Real Madrid – meaning Carlo Ancelotti’s side has three wins more. But Sevilla remains in a strong position.
Crucially, Real Betis lost El Gran Derbi to Sevilla last weekend. Not only has that defeat left Betis eight points behind Sevilla, but it also means that Manuel Pellegrini’s team trails Real Madrid by 16 points.
Villarreal sits 18 points behind Real Madrid, while Real Sociedad is 19 points off the pace. With Athletic Club, Valencia, and Celta Vigo even further behind, it is hardly surprising that there are only seven teams on the bookies’ La Liga winner odds list.
Top Contenders to Win La Liga in 2022
Before we settle on a La Liga prediction for 2022, we need to take a closer look at the top contenders. Yes, Real Madrid is heavily favored to lift the trophy. But there are still 12 matches remaining this season, meaning 36 points are up for grabs.
Will Real Madrid Top the La Liga Table Once Again?
There are so many reasons why Real Madrid is miles clear of everyone else on the bookmakers’ La Liga odds list.
For starters, Ancelotti’s men hold a six-point lead over second-place Sevilla. On top of that, they have lost just one of their previous 18 outings. Better still, they are the top scorers in La Liga – having netted a whopping 52 goals in 26 games (2 goals per game).
This season, Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior have developed a lethal partnership, racking up 48 goal involvements between them. As a result, both players find themselves among the early betting favorites for the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
TOP SCORERS IN LA LIGA – GOALS AND ASSISTS (2021-22) | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Player | Club | Goals | Assists | Goals and Assists |
Karim Benzema | Real Madrid | 19 | 9 | 28 |
Vinicius Junior | Real Madrid | 13 | 7 | 20 |
Raul de Tomas | Espanyol | 13 | 3 | 16 |
Angel Correa | Atletico Madrid | 11 | 4 | 15 |
Juanmi | Real Betis | 12 | 2 | 14 |
By their high standards, Los Blancos have struggled to assert their dominance on Spanish soccer in recent years. They have managed to win only three of the last 13 La Liga titles, with Barcelona triumphing on eight occasions in that time.
Still, it is worth remembering that Real Madrid has won more top-flight titles than any other team in Spain. The 34-time La Liga winner looks set to return to the top this year.
Could Sevilla Overtake Real Madrid?
Sevilla’s first and only La Liga triumph came back in 1946. Since then, the club has recorded a couple of second-place finishes and two third-place finishes in 2007 and 2009.
Los Rojiblancos finished second in each of the previous two campaigns, ending up behind Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico on both occasions. Yet, due to the demise of both Barca and Atleti, Sevilla leads the chasing pack this season.
Lopetegui’s men are the lowest scorers in the top six, having netted 39 goals this term. That said, they find themselves in second place thanks to their outstanding defensive record.
- Sevilla – 18
- Real Madrid – 20
- Real Sociedad – 25
- Villarreal – 25
- Athletic Club – 25
Sevilla has conceded a measly 18 goals this season, keeping 13 clean sheets in 26 games. That means they average a shutout every other game. If they continue to outperform everyone else in defense, they will give themselves an excellent chance of lifting the trophy.
It is also worth noting that Sevilla still has to play Real Madrid, with Los Blancos set to visit the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on April 17. That clash is destined to have a huge impact on the outcome of the title race.
Sleepers That Could Upset the La Liga Odds
Although Real Madrid and Sevilla are clearly out in front, you would be foolish to make a 2022 La Liga title prediction without analyzing the outsiders. All the teams in this section will still be confident of upsetting the La Liga betting odds this year.
Can Barcelona Continue to Climb the La Liga Standings?
When Ronald Koeman was sacked back in October, things looked highly bleak to Barcelona. The 26-time La Liga winner was stuck in ninth place following three losses in four games and struggled to cope without Lionel Messi.
Fast-forward to today – Barca is in a completely different place.
Since Koeman’s departure, the Catalans have lost just one of their 15 La Liga games. Club legend Xavi has overseen a phenomenal turnaround at Camp Nou, meaning more and more people are including Barca in their La Liga betting predictions for the title.
Across the past ten games, only one team – Villarreal – picked up more points than Barcelona. Xavi’s side took 22 points from a possible 30 during that period, recording six wins and four draws. They also scored 23 goals along the way.
Arsenal rejects Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has immediately impacted Catalonia, netting a hat-trick in the 4-1 victory over Valencia before scoring again in the 4-0 thrashing of Athletic Club. If he continues to fire, Barca will continue to rise.
How Will Atletico Madrid’s Title Defense End?
Since 2004, Atletico Madrid has been the only club to stop Barcelona and Real Madrid from winning the La Liga title. Diego Simeone’s side triumphed in 2014 before regaining the crown last year.
However, it’s fair to say that Atletico’s title defense has not gone to plan this season. The reigning champions have managed to win just 13 of their 26 matches, registering six draws and seven losses in the process.
Having said all that, Atletico’s La Liga odds to win the title seem steep at 101.00. The defending champs have won three of their past four games and could make a significant charge in the final third of the campaign.
Could Real Betis Upset the La Liga Title Odds?
If Atletico’s La Liga title odds are steep, then Real Betis’ is outrageous. Despite sitting third in the La Liga standings, Pellegrini’s boys are priced at 501.00 (yes, 501.00!) to secure the silverware.
Granted, Betis is eight points shy of second-place Sevilla and 14 points behind Real Madrid. But with 12 games and a maximum of 36 points there for the taking, I’m struggling to figure out why Betis’ La Liga odds are so high.
After games were played behind closed doors last season Real Betis supporters have returned in their numbers this campaign. Their average home attendance of 40,000 is the third-most in La Liga. The passion in the stands has been a huge factor in their home form. pic.twitter.com/tioDuCzARy
— Football España (@footballespana_) February 26, 2022
What if Benzema and Vinicius get injured? What if Sevilla endures a run of poor form? And what if Betis goes on a big winning streak between now and the end of the season? These are all things to consider when making your La Liga title prediction.
Only Real Madrid have scored more goals than Betis this season. If stars such as Juanmi, Borja Iglesias, Willian Jose, and Nabil Fekir continue to shine, they could fire their team to glory.
Prediction for Who Will Win La Liga in 2022
There is absolutely no denying that Real Madrid SHOULD clinch the title from here. As it stands, Los Blancos are six points clear of second-place Sevilla – having lost only one of their last 18 matches.
However, that doesn’t mean that Real Madrid WILL win the title. The season doesn’t finish until May 22, meaning there are still almost three months of action remaining. Bear that in mind when making your Spanish La Liga predictions.
Although Real Madrid is my La Liga prediction for the 2022 title, odds 1.10 are way too low to bother with. You would have to place a huge stake to make a worthwhile profit.
Let’s not forget that Los Rojiblancos are currently enjoying a 12-game unbeaten run. If they maintain their hot streak between now and the end of the season – and beat Real Madrid next month – they will almost certainly be there or thereabouts on May 22.
