With almost double the amount of NHL games for us to watch this season, let’s take a look at the favorite, as well as other contenders for the Stanley Cup in the 2021-22 season.

After being eliminated by the Vegas Golden Knights in Round 2 of the 2021 playoffs, the Avalanche find themselves as the most favored team, odds-wise, to win the Stanley Cup this season.

The Avalanche finished tied with the best record in the regular season last year and they had a great offseason, so it is not a huge surprise to see them at the top.

The Tampa Bay Lightning were the 2020-21 Stanley Cup winners, and they find themselves right behind the Avalanche in the odds rankings.

They will be looking to repeat as champions for the third year in a row, which would make them the first team to do so since the New York Islanders won four years in a row from 1980-1983.

The Colorado Avalanche had a disappointing end to their season last year.

After finishing 39-13-4, they tied the Vegas Golden Knights for the best record in the NHL (both had a .732 winning percentage), while also tying the Golden Knights for most points in the league with 82.

Their regular season was incredible, but they couldn’t bring the Stanley Cup to Colorado at the end of the season.

They acquired Goalie Darcy Kuemper, defenseman Kurtis MacDermid, as well as resigning captain left-wing, Gabriel Landeskog this offseason. They still have Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar for 2021 as well.

This team was capable enough to win last season, and they are very capable of winning it this year.

Besides the Avalanche, there are some other teams that should be regarded as contenders to win the 2021-22 Stanley Cup.

You can probably assess that to a degree just by looking at the odds for who will win the Stanley Cup this year, but pricing is only part of the picture.

Let’s look at which teams besides the Avalanche could win it this year.

The Lightning are obviously another big contender this year after winning the championship in the past two seasons.

They are led by captain Steven Stamkos, as well as Nikita Kucherov, Andrei Vasilevski, Brayden Point, and more.

The back-to-back champs are right behind the Avalanche in the odds race, which may motivate them even more for this season.

They finished third in the Eastern Division to a record of 33-16-7 and eliminated the Capitals in the first round of the playoffs in five games. They ended up being eliminated in the second round by the Islanders in six games.

After falling two series short of the Stanley Cup, the Bruins will be looking to redeem themselves in the 2021-22 NHL season.

With the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche looking to be the favorites coming into the season, I’m going to cast my vote on the Boston Bruins.

They could very well get the job done again in the upcoming season, but I prefer to bet on someone with some longer odds.

My favorite team to target at top NHL betting sites at this point in the season is going to the Boston Bruins.

They have profitable odds (+1200), which is about double the odds of the Avalanche and Lightning. Nick Foligno could be the final piece the Bruins need to take their team to the next level. They will be looking to win their first Stanley Cup since 2011 and end the Lightning’s streak at two.

Obviously, there is a reason for the Avalanche and Lightning being heavily favored. They both have great rosters and didn’t lose a bunch of talent in their offseasons.

But when you want to place a season-long bet, you want to make sure it’s worth it. I think the Bruins odds are profitable, and the team is good enough to win it this season.
