Are you ready to bet on the Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament?

Officially known as the UEFA Best Player of the Tournament, the award is handed to the top performer at the end of every European Championship.

Big-name stars like Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, and Harry Kane are among the bookmakers’ frontrunners to scoop the prize this year, but there are plenty of outsiders to consider, too.

I analyze all the Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament favorites in this post and also explore some interesting sleeper options. Before we get to that, let’s check out the odds for the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2020.

Latest Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament Odds

Here are the current odds for the Euro 2020 UEFA Best Player of the Tournament.

When it comes to betting on the Player of the Tournament at the Euros, you want to make sure that the player you are backing is likely to reach the latter stages of the tournament.

I mean, there is no point in betting on a player whose team could get knocked out in the group stage.

With that in mind, it is hardly surprising to find three French players among the bookies’ top six favorites for the Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament award.

Many of the leading online sportsbooks view France as the favorite to win the competition, meaning Kylian Mbappe (8.00), Antoine Griezmann (15.00), and N’Golo Kante (15.00) all stand a real chance of picking up individual awards.

Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne (10.00) and Romelu Lukaku (19.00) are also among the frontrunners, along with England duo Harry Kane (15.00) and Phil Foden (21.00).

Portugal pair Cristiano Ronaldo (15.00) and Bruno Fernandes (21.00) are in the mix, too.

Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament Favorites

Let’s take a closer look at the favorites for the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2020.

Kylian Mbappe

  • Age: 22
  • Country: France
  • Position: Forward
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 8.00

Mbappe won the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award following a series of eye-catching displays in Russia back in 2018. Naturally, that makes him one of the leading contenders to be named this year’s UEFA Best Player of the Tournament.

The PSG prodigy has finished as the top goalscorer in Ligue 1 in each of their last three seasons and heads into the European Championship on the back of a 42-goal campaign with the Parisians.

France has been placed in a seriously tough group, alongside Portugal, Germany, and Hungary. But if Mbappe is at his best in the coming weeks, he could easily fire his country to glory.

KYLIAN MBAPPE – 2020/21 SEASON
Competition Appearances Goals Assists
Ligue 1 31 27 7
Champions League 10 8 3
Coupe de France 5 7 1

Kevin De Bruyne

  • Age: 29
  • Country: Belgium
  • Position: Midfield
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 10.00

It’s safe to say that De Bruyne is no stranger to winning personal accolades. In fact, the two-time PFA Players’ Player of the Year was recently voted the EPL’s top performer by his peers.

A hugely influential midfielder, De Bruyne could singlehandedly change games. When it comes to tournament soccer, that is a handy trait to possess.

With an aging squad, it is difficult to predict exactly how far Belgium will go this summer. That said, if De Bruyne can pull the strings in the heart of the Red Devils’ midfield, he could carry his nation deep into the competition.

Harry Kane

  • Age: 27
  • Country: England
  • Position: Forward
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 15.00

Fresh from clinching a third EPL Golden Boot, it could be argued that Kane holds the key to England’s chances of success at Euro 2020. Of course, Gareth Southgate is blessed with an abundance of world-class attacking options. But Kane is undoubtedly the pick of the bunch.

Not only did he finish as the top scorer in the Premier League last season, but he also topped the league’s assist charts. Having racked up a phenomenal 33 goals and 17 assists in all competitions last term, Kane has the potential to light up the Euros.

Antoine Griezmann

  • Age: 30
  • Country: France
  • Position: Forward
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 15.00

Following a slow start to the 2020/21 campaign, Griezmann finished the La Liga season on a high – bagging ten goals and five assists in his final 21 league appearances. Better still, the Barcelona star has netted in all but one of France’s previous five outings.

At the end of the day, Griezmann invariably rises to the occasion at major tournaments. After notching six goals and two assists at Euro 2016, he contributed four goals and three assists on his way to lifting the 2018 World Cup.

With a record like that, you would be foolish to write off Griezmann when it comes to betting on the UEFA Best Player of the Tournament.

ANTOINE GRIEZMANN – LAST TWO MAJOR TOURNAMENTS
Tournament Games Goals Assists
Euro 2016 7 6 2
2018 World Cup 7 4 3

Cristiano Ronaldo

  • Age: 36
  • Country: Portugal
  • Position: Forward
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 15.00

What can I possibly say about Cristiano Ronaldo that hasn’t already been said?

Even at the age of 36, nobody would be shocked if the unrelenting forward led Portugal to European Championship glory while picking up the Player of the Tournament award in the process.

N’Golo Kante

  • Age: 30
  • Country: France
  • Position: Midfield
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 15.00

Having produced an outstanding man-of-the-match performance in the UEFA Champions League final, I think everyone is now in agreement that Kante is one of the best midfielders on the planet.

The diminutive Frenchman has become pivotal to both Chelsea and his country in recent years, scooping countless team and individual accolades along the way. If France makes it to the latter stages of the competition, Kante will almost certainly be at the heart of the action.

Could Anyone Else Win the Award?

Below, I cover four Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament sleepers that have the potential to land you a tasty profit.

Romelu Lukaku

  • Age: 28
  • Country: Belgium
  • Position: Forward
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 19.00

At 28, Lukaku is already Belgium’s all-time leading scorer. The Inter Milan forward has netted a remarkable 60 goals in 93 international appearances – and he ain’t finished yet!

Lukaku just racked up 30 goals and ten assists in all competitions during the 2020/21 season. If he carries his domestic form into the European Championship, there is no reason why he can’t challenge for the POTT award.

ROMELU LUKAKU – 2020/21 SEASON
Competition Appearances Goals Assists
Serie A 36 24 10
Champions League 5 4
Coppa Italia 3 2

Bruno Fernandes

  • Age: 26
  • Country: Portugal
  • Position: Midfield
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 21.00

Fernandes has only been at Manchester United for a season and a half. Still, he has already managed to claim back-to-back Sir Matt Busy Player of the Year awards.

Yes, Ronaldo is Portugal’s main man in attack. But when you consider what Fernandes has achieved over the past couple of years, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the Man Utd playmaker outshone his teammates – and his rivals – at Euro 2020.

Ruben Dias

  • Age: 24
  • Country: Portugal
  • Position: Defender
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 34.00

With attacking players often grabbing the headlines, defenders don’t usually win individual awards at major tournaments. However, if anyone is going to buck that trend this summer, it will likely be Ruben Dias.

The 24-year-old center-back enjoyed a standout debut campaign in England, guiding Manchester City to EPL glory, as well as sealing the FWA Footballer of the Year award. It goes without saying that he will be brimming with confidence right now.

If Dias was a couple of years younger, he definitely would have featured among my top young players to watch at Euro 2020.

Jack Grealish

  • Age: 25
  • Country: England
  • Position: Midfield
  • Player of the Tournament odds: 41.00

Okay – this is a longshot. But hear me out.

Having missed a large portion of the 2020/21 EPL season, there was a fear that Jack Grealish could be a little out of practice. If his recent performances are anything to go by, the Aston Villa talisman is far from rusty.

Grealish shone in England’s recent friendly victories over Austria and Romania, gliding past his opponents with ease while creating multiple goalscoring opportunities.

You cannot disregard the 25-year-old when betting on the UEFA Best Player of the Tournament at Euro 2020.

My Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament Predictions

There is no denying that Mbappe is the favorite to be crowned Player of the Tournament at Euro 2020 for a reason. The French superstar is widely regarded as the heir to Messi and Ronaldo’s throne, making him the leading contender for the award.

Backing Mbappe at 8.00 is by no means a bad idea. However, I believe that you can find even better value in the bookies’ Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament odds.

Mbappe’s countryman, Kante, has transformed himself into a big-game player in recent times. If Kante starts the European Championship with a series of match-winning displays, his price of 15.00 will surely decrease.

I also like the look of Fernandes at 21.00. Portugal arguably boasts the strongest squad in the entire competition, meaning the defending champions could go all the way. The further Portugal goes, the more chances Fernandes will have to shine.
