Best Games on the 2020-21 College Basketball Schedule

The 2020-21 college basketball season is yet to begin and we’re already seeing postponements left and right. Games (even tournaments as a whole) are getting canceled and teams are losing opportunities to prove their worth.
Not a whole lot can be done and nobody said it was fair. Unfortunately, this is just the reality of the current situation.
On the bright side, there are some awesome matchups that haven’t been removed or altered from the NCAAB schedule. With that in mind, here are the five best college basketball games in 2020-21.
Kansas vs. Gonzaga
- Where: Suncoast Credit Union Arena – Fort Myers, FL
- When: 11/26/20
#1 vs. #6 on the second official day of the college basketball season. Not too shabby if you ask me.
Both of these programs return a nice mix of proven veterans, but it’ll be a couple of freshman guards I’ll be watching in this one. The Jayhawks Bryce Thompson the Bulldogs Jalen Suggs both make their much-anticipated debuts.
That’s all I need to be motivated to tune into college basketball on Thanksgiving.
Kentucky vs. Kansas
- Where: Bankers Life Fieldhouse – Indianapolis, IN
- When: 12/1/20
Go ahead and pencil in a Kentucky vs. Kansas battle on the first day of December. It’s easily one of the best college basketball games on the 2020-21 schedule.
Champions Classic details:

Kansas vs. Kentucky at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Tip-off at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN #kubball
Thankfully, the Champions Classic in Indianapolis remains “all-systems go” with two prime-time matchups. On top of John Calipari and Bill Self going toe-to-toe, Tom Izzo and Mike Krzyzewski headline a Michigan State vs. Duke matchup that precedes this one.
Gonzaga vs. Baylor
- Where: Bankers Life Fieldhouse – Indianapolis, IN
- When: 12/5/20
Could the December 5th tilt in Indy be a preview of the 2021 National Championship?
Considering this matchup features the two top-ranked teams in college basketball, I’d say so.
BREAKING: Gonzaga and Baylor—who went a combined 57-6 last season and might be the two best teams in CBB NEXT season—have made a midsummer scheduling pivot and agreed to play each other in 2020-21, coaches Scott Drew and Mark Few tell @CBSSports. Story: https://t.co/mm9bh61OH5

Hosted at a neutral site and televised nationally on CBS, this gives us an early look at who is the best team in the country.
Iowa vs. Illinois
- Where: State Farm Center – Champaign, IL
- When: 1/29/21
Why watch a college basketball game with one Wooden Award candidate when you can watch one that has two?
That’s exactly what’s on the docket on January 29th in Champaign when two of the best players in college basketball hit the floor.
Luka Garza and the Hawkeyes against Ayo Dosunmu equals must-see television whether you’re a Big Ten fan or not.
Virginia vs. Duke
- Where: Cameron Indoor Stadium – Durham, NC
- When: 2/20/21
A truncated schedule in the upcoming season means the Virginia vs. Duke series will be limited to just one game. It’ll take place on the Blue Devils home floor in February – albeit most likely without the presence of the Cameron Crazies going berserk.
Duke has a high-powered offense and one of the best freshmen in NCAAB in Jalen Johnson.
Virginia plays the best defense in the nation and has Sam Hauser, one of the top transfers in college basketball.
Buckle up as the ACC regular-season title could very well be on the line.
