Bengals’ Chances of Winning Super Bowl 55 – Odds, Analysis, and Prediction

It looks like the misery in Cincinnati is finally over.

After enduring a 2-14 season that involved a combination of Ryan Finley and a decaying Andy Dalton, the fans in Cincy can start to rejoice. Joe Burrow has arrived, and it appears that the tide is turning.

A debate in the football community has been sparked about how far Burrow can take the Bengals in his first year at the helm. Is it possible to catch the Ravens in the division? Can the Cincinnati Bengals win the Super Bowl in 2021?

I’ll offer my two cents.

If there was ever a time to shop your lines when betting NFL online, the Bengals’ Super Bowl odds in 2021 is that time. Imagine backing Cincy at +8000 to win it all when you could have latched on at +25000.

Knowing where you’ll get the best bang for your buck on a Bengals Super Bowl bet is the first step. The second step is deciding if it’s an NFL futures bet worth your time and investment.

Let’s take a look.

San Francisco went from 4-12 to 13-3 and nearly won the Super Bowl from one year to the next. How did they do it?

The 49ers got stable at the quarterback position and significantly improved their defense. Isn’t that exactly what Duke Tobin and the Bengals did during this past offseason?

Joe Burrow enters the league as polished as a college QB can be and will have some shiny toys to play with. A.J. Green should be healthy and rejuvenated, Tee Higgins is going to be an explosive rookie, and Tyler Boyd is a crisp route-runner coming out of the slot.

As far as the refurbishing of the defensive unit goes, the Bengals spent $53 million locking up D.J. Reader. They coughed up another $42 million to insert Trae Waynes into the secondary and lured Von Bell in from New Orleans. In my opinion, third-round selection Logan Wilson was one of the best picks of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Circling back to the topic of if the Bengals can win Super Bowl 55, it’s certainly wishful thinking. However, we’ve seen stranger things happen.

Cincinnati struggles to sustain drives on offense, as evidenced by ranking dead last in third-down conversion rate in 2019. They clocked in 30^th in the NFL in turnover differential (-14) and ranked dead last in rushing yards allowed.

Other than that, “The Bungles” played great last season!

All jokes aside, it’s a bit unrealistic to expect the Bengals to win the Super Bowl in Joe Burrow’s rookie year. I touched on a few of the categories Cincy was deficient in, but the list goes on and on. Once everything is added up, the result is a 2-14 football team.

The jury is still out on whether or not Zac Taylor is a quality NFL head coach, and the locker room lacks a veteran presence the team can rally around. In other words, let’s not get ahead of ourselves until genuine leadership is in place. Until somebody grabs the bull by the horns, the Bengals winning the Super Bowl is nothing more than a pipe dream.

The AFC North odds reveal that Cincy is a longshot to win their division, so that tells you all you need to know about their chances of winning the SB. On the other hand, if an argument can be made to sway someone into betting on the Redskins to win Super Bowl 55, we may as well entertain the idea of the Bengals hoisting the hardware.

Although it’s extremely unlikely it pans out, it doesn’t hurt to fantasize.
