Bayer Leverkusen vs. Koln Betting Preview With Pick – Bundesliga, June 17
Koln should not count itself safe quite yet, but the seven-point gap between it and the drop zone could have an effect on the determination of the players.
There will be no lack of desire for the hosts, who are looking to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League once again. I’ve covered the odds for this match below and made my Bayer Leverkusen vs. Koln prediction and betting pick.
Bayer Leverkusen vs. Koln Odds
BetOnline obviously doesn’t think that Koln will raise its game to overcome Leverkusen on Wednesday evening, and that assessment is probably fair given Koln’s position in the league and its much more winnable games coming up on the last two matchdays.
Bayer Leverkusen vs. Koln Match Preview
Bayer Leverkusen could only manage a draw with struggling Schalke at the weekend thanks to a late equalizer, but that was enough to see the club move back up to fourth with just three games to go. The caliber of opposition in those fixtures is not of the highest standard, either, so Champions League soccer is looking more of a reality for Peter Bosz’s side.
It has been a very good season for Leverkusen once again, but there has been a slight dip in results, at least in the last two games. The game against Bayern went as expected, but it will be a little disconcerting that Leverkusen was so thoroughly dominated on its own pitch.
It shouldn’t have any such problem on Wednesday, though, as Koln will muster a spirited attack but is nowhere near the level of Hansi Flick’s Bayern. But Bundesliga safety is an achievement in itself for a club that only came back up to the top flight last summer.
Koln’s season can neatly be divided into three distinct sections — a terrible start, a much better middle, and then another dip in form now. That middle section has just about kept Koln up, but manager Markus Gisdol would no doubt like a couple more wins before the end of the season. Not sure he is going to get one on Wednesday, though.
Prediction and Betting Pick
Bayer Leverkusen to Win-208
Leverkusen’s need for a win is far greater than Koln here, and even if there wasn’t the added gulf in class between the two sides, I think I would go with the home side to take all three points. With Borussia Monchengladbach just a point behind, there is no room for error in the last three games of the season.
