BATE has certainly made the Belarusian Premier League more interesting over the last two weeks, but only because it has lost two games in a row.
Slavia Mozyr will be hoping that that kind of form continues this weekend as it attempts to pull off a shock victory.
I assess the odds below, then get into my BATE Borisov vs. Slavia Mozyr prediction and betting pick.
BATE Borisov vs. Slavia Mozyr Odds
BATE Borisov to Win-238
Slavia Mozyr to Win+498
Surely it couldn’t happen again this weekend? MyBookie doesn’t think that Slavia Mozyr can continue the misery for the eternal champions and thinks that a BATE win is the more likely outcome. There will be some who think that the odds are worth backing the visiting side, but BATE should be ready to end its dip in form.
BATE Borisov vs. Slavia Mozyr Match Preview
It took an absolutely wondrous strike from Energetik-BGU’s Shakhboz Umarov halfway through the first half to win the points for the Students last weekend, but it was another goalless performance from BATE. That will worry manager Kirill Alshevsky going into this game on Saturday.
Although Energetik-BGU has been one of the more watchable sides in the Belarusian Premier League this season, there were not many who thought that it could beat BATE last weekend. Or that Dinamo Minsk could win 2-0 the week before, either. Slavia is not as good as those two, but this season has been a strange one.
Slavia Mozyr will no doubt take a lot of confidence from BATE’s blip over the last two weeks and put everything into picking up a second consecutive victory after its 3-1 win against Slutsk. But that result had more to do with Slutsk’s own alarming drop in form than Slavia’s domination.
Slavia could probably be included at the bottom end of the mid-table scrum of clubs in the league this season, but there doesn’t look like much chance of making the move into Europa League contention. Relegation is probably not on the cards, either, so defeat here would not be the end of the world.
Prediction and Pick
BATE Borisov to Win
No matter how hard I look at the fall from grace experienced by BATE this season, I still can’t see a third consecutive defeat, especially at the hands of Slavia Mozyr. Those two losses have made the title race far more exciting, but BATE will now be desperate not to lose any more ground to Shakhtyor at the top.
