Astralis vs. OG Betting Preview and Prediction

Today’s late game in the ESL Pro League schedule pins together Astralis and OG. The teams have posted identical records during Stage 2 and this tie will be decisive in sealing their fates in the tournament.

The Danes have struggled to assert themselves as the top favorite to win it all, while OG has impressed with their tactical awareness and grit.  Despite the obvious mismatch in status, this game promises to be entertaining from start to finish.

This Astralis vs. OG betting preview includes the main betting markets you can pick from and also provides an account of how the two teams have been faring recently.

I then dish out my betting prediction and a free pick so be sure to stick around until the end.

Astralis vs. OG Odds

I have chosen SportsBetting for the odds as the bookmaker has rolled out some tasty prices. Here is how things stand at the moment:

Match Winner

Astralis -345
OG +277

Correct Score

Astralis to Win 2:0 -145
Astralis to Win 2:1 +191
OG to Win 2:0 +464
OG to Win 2:1 +432

Total Maps Played

Under 2.5 -175
Over 2.5 +136

Is the huge advantage given to Astralis justified? Well, they are one of the leading forces on the CS:GO scene so they are rarely the underdog, but underestimating OG will be a big mistake.

Astralis Current Form

After impressing in Phase 1, the Danes have hit a bit of a snag recently. They lost to NaVi at the start of Stage 2 and then were beaten by Fnatic on Dust II and Inferno.

The team did bounce back with a 2:0 win against FaZe but the result doesn’t tell the full tale. Astralis had big problems closing out the first round on Nuke and allowed their opponents to push things into a tiebreak.

They did clinch the overtime and romped to a big win on Overpass but the overall performance was not very re-assuring. There was some improvement from Magisk, however, gla1ve and dupreeh still can’t kick into high gear.

The Danes are still a huge obstacle even when they’re not in top form and that’s why they are the big favorites here. The test that awaits, though, should be given the right amount of focus otherwise gla1ve and company might be in for yet another disappointment.

OG Current Form

OG has been the surprise package of Phase 2 so far. They currently hold 14th place in the world rankings but have come into an elite competition and are proving that they belong there.

They did lose to mousesports and Natus Vincere this week but both games saw them put up solid performances. Going up against two of the best teams in the world is always going to be a challenge so credit to the underdogs for pushing them until the end.

The good form continued against Fnatic and this time, Aleksib and his teammates took the W.

The victory means that OG still has a chance to make the playoffs and will be full of confidence after their impressive tactics bore fruit against the high-flying Fnatic.

They have a huge mountain to climb against Astralis but I won’t be quick to dismiss their chances.

Astralis vs. OG Prediction and Pick

This could well end up being a thrashing but OG won’t lie down. The team’s superb tactical approach has been successful in stifling much better teams and it’s no surprise they’ve made it this far.

Astralis certainly have the quality to unlock and demolish any team but a couple of the key pieces have been in underwhleming form since the start of Phase 2.

There was a slight improvement against FaZe but they were close to losing a tiebreak that would’ve pushed the match to a third round on Train where anything could’ve happened.

I believe today’s game will also be a lot closer than the odds suggest. Astralis will definitely feel the pressure against a very organized team that is full of confidence right now.

Given the tentative performances of the favorite and the fact that nobody has been able to dominate OG in this stage, I believe the Over market is the way to go here.

Both teams have been involved in a lot of three-round games and SportsBetting’s price represents the best betting value at +136. You can find similar odds in our other trusted CS:GO betting sites.
