The world ranking leaders Astralis start their 2020 Blast Premier Showdown campaign with a tie against Swedish outfit Ninjas in Pyjamas.
NiP has been somewhat successful in staging resistance against the Danes in the past but they are still finding their form after changing their captain last week. Astralis is also going through a roster makeover right now so today’s matchup promises to be very interesting.
In this Astralis vs. NiP betting preview for Monday, I try to help you with the betting angle by laying out the latest odds and providing a prediction based on them and the current form of these two organizations.
Astralis vs. NiP Odds
Тhe prices below are taken from 10Bet. There aren’t a lot of markets available for this tie but the bookmaker is still one of the best places to bet on esports.
If you’re interested to learn more about what the platform has to offer, you can read our full review of 10Bet.
The nature of the BLAST Premier tournament means that 10Bet has only rolled out the match winner market here but this still presents you with an ample opportunity to turn a good profit.
Naturally, the world number one team is the big favorite here but the odds for them look quite appealing.
Can NiP spring a surprise? Let’s look at both teams and move on to my final prediction and betting pick.
The team romped to the ESL One: Road to Rio title after losing only one game throughout the whole tournament. This came in the group phase against Fnatic but the Danes were relentless in the playoffs by overcoming FaZe and G2 twice without even losing a map.
Most recently, they fell to nexa and his teammates after captain gla1ve decided to take a leave of absence. The news was followed up by another temporary departure as key player Xyp9x took the same decision.
We don’t know how long this hiatus will continue but this roster still has elite quality on it.
Magisk will take over leadership responsibilities for now and the team has brought in reserve JUGI and former Heroic member Snappi to fill in the holes.
This may sound like an issue but device and dupreeh are still on the team and their form has been exceptional in the last month.
Ninjas in Pyjamas
The Ninjas are going through their own type of rough patch right now. Their captain Lekr0 was dropped from the roster and replaced with hampus who is yet to find the right formula for this team.
They started the DreamHack event poorly but will take confidence from a blowout win against ENCE which helped them leapfrog the Finns and enter the playoffs.
However, I still feel that their main man Plopski is not feeling comfortable with the current state of the team and this is always a problem when you have to face one of the most dominant forces on the CS:GO scene right now.
Astralis vs. NiP Betting Prediction and Pick
Some will say this is a good opportunity to back NiP as Astralis lost two of their most experienced players but the Ninjas themselves are hardly hitting top form right now.
Captain hampus has a lot of work before they become a squad that can consistently trouble the elite and while I do feel they have resources to take a map here if they can replicate their latest performance, Astralis’ trio of device, dupreeh, and Magisk should be able to wrap this up.
The Danes have lost a bit of their core but Snappi and JUGI are both legit professionals and while they may take some time to settle, they too bring a spark that can give the needed support to the main players.
I’m backing the favorite here and the odds of -160 are more than fair in my opinion.
