Astralis vs. G2 Betting Preview With Prediction and Pick – ESL One: Road to Rio, May 13th

The late game in today’s ESL One European qualifiers pins together current world ranking leaders Astralis against French organization G2 Esports.

The Danes topped Group A in the current event with relative ease but their next opponent also showed flashes of their huge potential.

The teams haven’t met since locking horns at the ESL Pro League Finals in December and my Astralis vs. G2 betting preview for May 13th tries to figure out how this upcoming matchup can pan out.

It’s no surprise that the team is the overwhelming favorite here. Their ESL One qualifying campaign so far has been a huge success as gla1ve and company have racked up six wins from seven Group A matches.

The sole loss came against current Pro League champions Fnatic but Astralis will have the last laugh after the Swedes couldn’t manage to clinch a playoff spot here.

NiP and ENCE did make Astralis work hard for the win but the other matchups ended with clean sweeps.

The core players are hitting top form right when the team needs it the most and Magisk’s recent performances prove that he has moved on from his disappointing start to the season.

The Frenchmen didn’t allow too many surprises in Group B but could’ve handled a couple of ties a bit better.

Solid wins against underdogs c0ntact and Movistar Riders set them on their path but losing to mousesports when chrisj and his team were displaying woeful form does not bode well for their chances in the playoffs.

There was also a narrow loss against lower-ranked North in there so there are definitely things on both the tactical and skills front that captain nexa needs to address fast. 

Despite all that, the team is currently ranked 6th in the world and will be eager to erase the memories of their early exit from the ESL Pro League.

Looking at past stats, I can say that G2 hasn’t beaten Astralis in a very long time. On top of that, the Danes are hitting top form and what is more important, they seemed to have learned their lesson from the ESL Pro League.

They are feeling strong right now and will go hard in the early stages of the playoffs to keep the upper bracket advantage.

G2 has its strengths but it’s no match for Astralis on top form and this should be another dominant win for the Danes.
