Are Casino Games Beatable With Math?

| January 3, 2022 12:35 pm PST

Everybody who has played casino games often wonders if they are possible to beat consistently. All the casino games revolve around one thing, math. Math is the real reason behind casino games and simply why it is not a game of skill, but luck.

To make things clear, you cannot beat a casino game every single time. They are in fact built for you to lose more than you win. You always hear sayings such as, “the house always wins,” or “don’t chase your losses.” You are often told to always take what you can and never get too greedy.

The whole reason behind all those sayings is because casino games are built for you to lose. One thing we can do is give ourselves a better chance to win by understanding the numbers. Keep in mind you can and will still lose even if you give yourself the absolute best chance to win.

With that being said, let’s break down some ways that can help you get a better chance at beating casino games.

How Card Casino Games Work

As you know, there are different types of casino games. For card games, there are 52 cards in a deck, so you calculate the outcomes given the type of game you play.

For Example
In Blackjack, the object is to get 21 in card value or closer than the house does. So if you start a fresh game with all 52 cards in play, you get 2 to start. That leaves 50 cards in the deck still. From there, you have to be able to do math and remember the cards that you see.

If I draw a king and a 7 in my firsthand, my score is 17. To get to 21 or closer, I need to draw a 4 or less. That means out of the 50 cards left, 4 of them are 4s. That means a 4 out of 50 (or 8%) chance of getting exactly a 4.

Taking an 8% chance is never something you should be doing pretty much ever.

Now as the game goes on, you will notice certain cards throughout it. For example, say you are a couple rounds in, and you see a total of 4 6s go by. That means in that deck, there will be a 0% chance that you get a 6 again. So, if you have a 15 and are wondering if you can get a 6 for a perfect 21, you won’t.

This is also the general idea behind “counting cards.” If you notice a certain card go by multiple times, the probabilities of you seeing that card again or lower than they were before. Here is an interesting video of counting cards and how you can use it to give yourself a better chance of winning.

There are tons of more examples of certain card games that can be way more complex. At the end of the day, you will notice that paying attention to all of the cards and not just your cards will benefit you. There is also never a time where you will be able to win 100% of your turns.

How Math Works in Non-Card Games

Card games are a bit simpler to understand than other casino games. Games like Craps and Roulette all have to do with chance, and you don’t get any of your own decision making in it.

Craps have to do with dice. You roll two dice which add up to a sum between 2 and 12. There are also several different combinations you can get when getting those sums. The decisions you have to make when it comes to Craps is based on the potential outcomes for those chances.

Here is a table of outcomes and how the probabilities work in Craps.

Sum of Dice Combinations Percent Chance
2 1 2.78%
3 2 5.56%
4 3 8.33%
5 4 11.11%
6 5 13.89%
7 6 16.67%
8 5 13.89%
9 4 11.11%
10 3 8.33%
11 2 5.56%
12 1 2.78%

As you can see from the table, your best chance at rolling a specific combination is the number 7. To give yourself a chance at winning, you should probably put your money on 7. That also comes with less of a payout as well, but that’s how you have to play it.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line for casino games is that you are basically always taking a chance. You can increase and decrease your chances of winning due to decision making. That also corresponds with the increase or decrease in payouts if you win.

You simply cannot beat the house because of math. The house always wins because they are mathematically supposed to.

You always have to go into gambling with the mindset of having more fun than profit. There are certain instances where you go gambling and you make some money, but you must make an important decision at that point.

When you win a lot in a game, you have to ask yourself if you are better off stopping there or if you are fine with losing it all. More often than not, you should take your winnings and walk away.

The Best Way to Beat Casino Games

If you are checking out different ways of gambling, you should have seen some online ways by now. Certain online sites offer you bonuses to join their sites.

This is how we win.

Throughout the best online casino sites, you will notice certain types of bonuses to join the sites. We have to take advantage of the bonus and try to win with that money. That is simply the best way to give yourself the best chance at beating casino games.

That is also a big reason why you should pursue online gambling over in person gambling. In person casinos are fun for sure, but they usually don’t offer any sort of incentive to play.

Online casinos are becoming more and more popular, and they could overtake in person casinos sooner rather than later. Don’t miss out on all the fun!
