The 4 Best Thursday Night Football Games on the 2020 NFL Schedule

4 Most Exciting TNF Games 2020 NFL Schedule

The 2020 NFL season kicks off with a bang on Thursday night, September 10th. The defending Super Bowl champions host the Houston Texans in a rematch of last year’s AFC Divisional Round game, and there will be no shortage of drama.

Teams scheduled to play on Thursdays might not appreciate having to play on “short-rest,” but the football fans love it. Rather than wait until Sunday for the weekly action to get underway, FOX and the NFL Network will combine to treat us to an early-week special.

After scoping the 2020 NFL schedule, here are the 4 most exciting TNF games.

Texans @ Chiefs – Week 1

So technically, this one isn’t part of the Thursday Night Football schedule as it will be televised on NBC. Then it again, it’s NFL football on a Thursday night at its finest, so it’s safe to say it qualifies.

Being broadcasted on NBC means that Cris Collinsworth and Al Michaels will be on the call. That means you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be one of the millions tuning into this clash at Arrowhead Stadium.

This is our first look at Patrick Mahomes — the leader in the 2020 NFL MVP race. We get Andy Reid vs. Bill O’Brien, and we’ll witness Tyrann Mathieu going up against his former team. Perhaps the biggest storyline is the revenge factor at stake for Houston.

The Texans should be ultra-motivated for this game after blowing a 24-0 lead over KC in last season’s playoffs.

Buccaneers @ Bears – Week 5

What does the arrival of Tom Brady mean for the Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay media market? Well, Roger Goodell and the NFL made sure to showcase the Bucs on primetime on five occasions — the current cap set forth for each franchise per season.

Our first taste of TB12 under the lights comes in week 5 at Soldier Field on Thursday Night Football.

Watching the Brady-to-Gronk connection develop makes this game intriguing, and the QB controversy in Chicago is a subplot to monitor. Having Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on the call breaking it all down is the cherry on top.

Packers @ 49ers – Week 9

In a rematch of last year’s NFC title game, it’ll be interesting to see how the Green and Gold’s new philosophy of being a “run-first” team pans out. Aaron Rodgers was sacked eight times in two meetings versus San Francisco a season ago, so it’s no surprise Matt LaFleur doesn’t want his 36-year-old QB dropping back so much.

Kyle Shanahan and his crew replenished the roster via free agency and the trade, and they even bulked up their offensive line by trading for Trent Williams. We know that San Fran is a legitimate SB contender.

The better question is can the Green Bay Packers win Super Bowl 55?

We’ll have a much better idea after they travel to Santa Clara to lock horns with the 49ers on TNF. If A-Rod and company can go on the road and knock off the Niners, we’ll know the Pack are for real.

Cowboys @ Ravens – Week 13

Nobody should be shocked to see both of these organizations highlighted when it comes to the most exciting TNF games. The Cowboys and Ravens are each featured in the five best MNF games on the 2020 NFL schedule as well.

The public can’t get enough of Jerry Jones and is obsessed with following the Cowboys’ every move.

Lamar Jackson is arguably the league’s most dynamic player, and the Ravens were the highest-scoring team in football in 2019.

Off the bat, we have to give the edge to Baltimore, in large part due to the silver platter that was handed to John Harbaugh via the release of the 2020 NFL schedule. Dallas plays at Minnesota in week 11, flies back home to host the Redskins in week 12, then heads to Baltimore for this TNF game.

On the flip side, a week 2 battle at Houston is the only time the Ravens have to leave the Eastern Time Zone all year long.

Enjoy Thursday Night Football in 2020!

The National Football League is synonymous with Sundays, but let’s not discount all of the action taking place on Thursday nights. In fact, some of the most intriguing games on the 2020 NFL schedule are part of the TNF slate.

Watching Thursday Night Football for the pure excitement and love of the game is invigorating enough. Once you start betting NFL online and are financially invested in the outcomes, you won’t be able to take your eyes off the screen.
