The business end of the UEFA Champions League is right around the corner. After the international break, the eight remaining teams will battle it out in the quarter-finals.

Three English sides (Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City) have qualified for the quarter-finals and three Spanish teams (Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, and Villarreal). Bayern Munich flies the flag for Germany, alongside Portuguese club Benfica.

In response to the quarter-final draw, all the top soccer betting sites have updated their 2022 Champions League odds. Today, I will evaluate the prices and search for the best possible value.

I will also look at all the contenders before sharing my 2022 Champions League predictions for the quarter-finals and beyond. Let’s start with the odds and work our way through the rest.

Latest Odds for the UEFA Champions League 2022

Manchester City3.00
Liverpool3.00
Bayern Munich4.00
Chelsea12.00
Real Madrid13.00
Atletico Madrid23.00
Villarreal81.00
Benfica151.00

The latest Champions League winner odds suggest that there are three main frontrunners to lift the trophy at the Stade de France on May 28. Manchester City (3.00) and Liverpool (3.00) are joint favorites, with Bayern Munich (4.00) just behind.

Having been drawn against each other in the quarter-finals, Chelsea (12.00) and Real Madrid (13.00) find themselves just outside the bookmakers’ group of favorites.

If the Champions League betting odds are to be believed, then Atletico Madrid (23.00) is the sixth favorite to secure the silverware. Although Diego Simeone’s men are viewed as outsiders, they are miles ahead of Villarreal (81.00) and Benfica (151.00).

2022 UEFA Champions League Fixtures (Quarter-Finals)

The Champions League quarter-final draw took place on March 18 at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland. As you can see, the draw dished up some tasty clashes.

The first legs are set to take place across April 5 and 6, with the second legs scheduled for April 12 and 13. Each team plays at home and away, but the away goals rule has been scrapped for this year’s competition.

The odds below are for each team to qualify for the next round. These prices will help you when it comes to making your Champions League quarter-final predictions.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SCHEDULE – QUARTER-FINALS
  • Benfica (9.00) vs. Liverpool (1.10)
  • Manchester City (1.30) vs. Atletico Madrid (3.50)
  • Villarreal (7.50) vs. Bayern Munich (1.10)
  • Chelsea (2.00) vs. Real Madrid (1.80)

All three English teams avoided one another, as did the Spanish sides. It’s fair to say that Liverpool and Bayern Munich were handed the favorable ties, while the other two matchups are less clear-cut.

Analyzing the Champions League Favorites for 2022

According to the 2022 Champions League odds, Man City, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich are in a league of their own. But who will win the Champions League? In this section, I look at the UCL betting favorites.

Manchester City (3.00)

Following three successive quarter-final exits, the Cityzens finally reached their first-ever Champions League final last season. However, they suffered a 1-0 loss to EPL rival Chelsea in the showpiece.

In recent years, Pep Guardiola’s men have dominated English soccer, winning three of the past four EPL titles. Although they are in pole position to clinch another domestic crown this year, it feels like they are more determined to break their UCL hoodoo.

Man City is enjoying a run of just one defeat in 20 games across all competitions. After booking their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals with a 5-0 aggregate win over Sporting, they reached the FA Cup semi-finals with a 4-1 victory over Southampton last time out.

Boasting arguably the strongest squad in world soccer, City’s odds of winning the Champions League are low.

Liverpool (3.00)

While the Cityzens are searching for their maiden European triumph, the Reds are looking to add a seventh UCL crown to their collection. Under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool reached 2018 final before going all the way in 2019.

Earlier this season, the Merseysiders won all six of their UCL group games – scoring a whopping 17 goals along the way – before dispatching Inter Milan in the round of 16.

Klopp’s boys are also battling to regain the EPL title this year. They find themselves just a single point behind Man City with nine games remaining thanks to nine straight league wins.

Having bagged 28 goals and ten assists in 36 games this season, Mohamed Salah is the early betting favorite for the 2022 Ballon d’Or. He will be confident of bolstering his tally against Benfica – and future UCL opponents!

Early Betting Odds and Predictions for the 2022 Ballon d’Or

Who will win the Ballon d’Or in 2022? With the majority of the year ahead of us, that is a question that nobody can answer right now. Still, there is no harm in peeking at the early 2022 Ballon d’Or odds to see what the bookmakers think. Lionel...

Bayern Munich (4.00)

While we’re on the topic of players who could win the Ballon d’Or in 2022, let’s talk about Robert Lewandowski. The lethal striker has scored 45 goals in 37 games this term, including 12 in eight UCL outings.

Lewandowski netted an 11-minute hat-trick as Bayern Munich crushed RB Salzburg 7-1 in the round of 16. As a result, he leads the Champions League Golden Boot race.

2021-22 UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TOP SCORERS
Player Team Goals
Robert Lewandowski Bayern Munich 12
Sebastien Haller Ajax 11
Karim Benzema Real Madrid 8
Mohamed Salah Liverpool 8
Christopher Nkunku RB Leipzig 7

Still, Bayern is not a one-person team. With superstars such as Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane on the roster, the Germans will fancy their chances of regaining the crown they won in 2020.

Having lost just four of their 27 league matches this season, the Bavarians are also securing a tenth straight Bundesliga title. Check out my Bundesliga betting update to learn more about Bayern’s dominance.

Can Chelsea, Real Madrid, or Atletico Upset the UCL Odds?

Although Man City, Liverpool, and Bayern find themselves atop the Champions League winner odds table, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Atletico all stand a genuine chance of lifting the trophy in Paris. Below, I examine the best of the rest.

Chelsea (12.00)

Chelsea’s odds of winning the Champions League were around 8.50 before the round of 16. After drawing Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, the defending champion is now priced at 12.00.

Last season, the Blues clinched their second UCL title in ten years. Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard midway through the previous campaign, and the German head coach oversaw a remarkable turnaround at the club.

Tuchel is now among the favorites to become the next Manchester United manager. Given Chelsea’s off-field issues, the German could be available at the end of the season.

That said, Tuchel appears to be fully committed to the cause at Stamford Bridge. Having led the Londoners to Champions League glory last year, it wouldn’t be a massive shock if he guided them to the trophy again.

Real Madrid (13.00)

Los Blancos did not enjoy an excellent group-stage campaign by their high standards. Sheriff Tiraspol produced one of the biggest upsets in UCL history to shock Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, while Shakhtar Donetsk also pushed them on home soil.

Still, the 13-time champions rose to the occasion of the knockout phase. Thanks to a stunning Karim Benzema hat-trick, Real Madrid saw off Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.

MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUBS IN EUROPEAN CUP/UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE HISTORY
Club Titles Runner-Up
Real Madrid 13 3
AC Milan 7 4
Bayern Munich 6 5
Liverpool 6 3
Barcelona 5 3

As the table above details, Los Blancos have won a record 13 European Cup/Champions League titles over the years. They clinched four titles in five seasons between 2014 and 2018, including an unprecedented three-peat!

Although they suffered a heavy 4-0 home defeat to Barcelona last time out, Carlo Ancelotti’s men remain in control of their domestic destiny. Follow the link below to wager on the La Liga title race.

Betting Odds Update and Prediction for the 2022 La Liga Season

Who will win La Liga in 2022? Well, if the latest La Liga odds are anything to go by, Real Madrid already has one hand on the trophy. With 12 games remaining this season, Carlo Ancelotti’s men are in pole position to secure the title. But with 36 points...

Atletico Madrid (23.00)

The 2022 UEFA Champions League odds suggest that Atletico Madrid is the sixth favorite to seal the silverware. In my eyes, that price is highly generous.

Granted, Simeone’s boys need to get past Man City before even thinking about getting their hands on the trophy. But if they beat the Cityzens, there is no reason they can’t go all the way.

The reigning La Liga champions dispatched Man Utd in round 16, meaning they head into the international break on a five-game winning streak in all competitions.

Let’s not forget that Simeone’s boys reached the UCL final in 2014 and 2016 before winning the Europa League in 2018. That’s why you’d be a fool to write off Atletico when making your Champions League predictions.

Can an Outsider Win the 2022 UEFA Champions League Final?

Occasionally, an outsider comes from nowhere to win the Champions League. Jose Mourinho’s Porto team in 2004 springs to mind. But can Villarreal or Benfica upset the 2022 Champions League odds?

Villarreal (81.00)

Villarreal outperformed Atalanta and Young Boys to qualify from Group F, with Man Utd finishing just a single point ahead of the Spaniards. In the round of 16, they claimed a hugely impressive 4-1 aggregate win over Italian giant Juventus.

After winning the Europa League last year, the Yellow Submarine booked a spot in this season’s UCL. Suddenly, Unai Emery’s men find themselves in the Champions League quarter-finals.

It is worth noting that Emery led Sevilla to three consecutive Europa League titles between 2014 and 2016 before winning the competition with Villarreal. Naturally, he knows what it takes to triumph on the European stage.

The Spaniards have a top-class coach, but they also have an exciting squad of players. Guys like Gerard Moreno and Arnaut Danjuma have the potential to cause Bayern Munich plenty of problems.

Benfica (151.00)

Benfica’s odds of winning the Champions League are sky-high for several reasons. First, the Portuguese side is the weakest team in the competition. On top of that, Liverpool stands between them and a place in the semi-finals.

In all honesty, it isn’t easy to make a case for the Eagles here. They currently sit third in the Primeria Liga standings – 12 points behind first-place Porto – meaning they are not even the best team outside of Europe’s top five leagues.

If Benfica is serious about upsetting the 2022 Champions League odds, Darwin Nunez and Rafa Silva must be at the top of their game. Nunez has scored 26 goals in 33 games this term, while Silva has racked up 12 goals and 17 assists.

Champions League Quarter-Final Predictions for 2022

This UEFA Champions League betting preview would not be complete without my predictions for the Champions League quarter-finals. This is how I see things panning out.

  • Benfica vs. Liverpool – Liverpool to Qualify
  • Manchester City vs. Atletico Madrid – Manchester City to Qualify
  • Villarreal vs. Bayern Munich – Bayern Munich to Qualify
  • Chelsea vs. Real Madrid – Chelsea to Qualify

Like last season, I expect the English teams to dominate the quarter-finals. I’m backing Chelsea and Man City to reach the semi-finals for the second year in a row, along with Liverpool. I’m also confident that Bayern will knock out Villarreal.

After that, it’s anyone’s guess! I wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool and Man City met in the final, but Bayern and Chelsea are more than capable of going all the way.
