The 84th edition of the Tour de Suisse kicks off on Sunday, June 12, when more than 100 elite cyclists will start their 650-miles-long race across the Alps. Who will win the 2022 race? We’ll find out eight days later, on Sunday, June 19.

The organizers will post the definitive start list the evening before the start of the 2022 Tour de Suisse race. However, several A-list riders have already confirmed coming to Switzerland, including Peter Sagan, Adam Yates, Gino Mäder, and others.

Knowing this, cycling fans have every right to feel optimistic about the 2022 race, which may be one of the most exciting in Tour de Suisse history. For those of you who’d like to take the excitement to the next level, the solution might lie in the top online cycling betting sites.

Doing it means getting a chance to win big money. This is because the 2022 Tour de Suisse odds are bound to be lucrative regardless of which bet you make. Of course, this is only true if you go with the right pick. To help you make the correct betting choice, I’ve decided to do this 2022 Tour de Suisse betting guide.

This is where I will analyze the chances of top favorites, discuss potential Tour de Suisse odds, and even share my picks. But first things first – let’s start by discussing which sites are the best for betting on this race.

Where to Bet on the 2022 Tour de Suisse

The best European betting sites are famous for being user-friendly operators with an impeccable track record. This shouldn’t surprise you much – if they weren’t great, they wouldn’t be given our seal of approval.

You can’t go wrong no matter which site you choose. This goes especially if you’re planning to bet on the Tour de Suisse.

Many other sportsbooks tend to stick only to the three Grand Tour races, but these betting sites cover many other events of the UCI World Tour. This includes the one happening in Switzerland this month.

2022 Tour de Suisse Elite Cyclists Confirmed

In the cycling universe, the Tour de Suisse is considered a general rehearsal for the Tour de France, which is one of the three Grand Tour races.

One of the reasons is that the Tour de Suisse ends just two weeks before the start of the French Grand Tour. Knowing this, it’s no surprise that a number of elite cyclists have already confirmed they’ll be in Switzerland on June 12.

Some of those include the following riders.

  • Gino Mäder
  • Peter Sagan
  • Adam Yates
  • Thibaut Pinot
  • Jakob Fuglsang
  • Remco Evenepoel
  • Tom Pidcock
  • Marc Hirschi
  • Stefan Bissegger
  • Stefan Kung

Some other elite cyclists may decide to participate in the race, but I’m confident these ten will remain the top title candidates. In fact, I believe these riders will be the ones with the shortest prices once the bookies publish their 2022 Tour de Suisse betting odds.

Top Favorites to Win the 2022 Tour de Suisse

The 2022 Tour de Suisse odds are yet to be published, but when they go live, I’m confident we’ll see Gino Mäder, Peter Sagan, and Adam Yates among the top betting favorites.

Mäder is a Swiss-born rider whose hometown is located less than 50 miles away from Kusnacht, the place where the 2022 Tour de Suisse starts. It’s needless to say that the 25-year-old is very familiar with the terrain.

Competing on home turf is one of Mäder’s top advantages over other riders. Still, his portfolio isn’t as impressive as the one of Peter Sagan or Adam Yates, who will be among his main rivals for the #1 finish.

Sagan, for instance, has 17 Grand Tour stage wins in his professional career, which is more than any other rider. When it comes to Yates, he’s a former world champion who won the young rider classification in the 2016 Tour de France.

So, which of these three should be thought of as the top Tour de Suisse favorite? I’d say it’s Gino Mäder, although the other two mustn’t be underestimated.

Gino Mäder

On May 1, Gino Mäder got himself on the podium at Tour de Romandie. He finished the race second – his best performance since the start of 2022.

If you’re not familiar with it, the Tour de Romandie is another major stage race held in Switzerland. It covers a similar route as the Tour de Suisse with plenty of steep hills.

Sure, the Tour de Suisse is more challenging, but the fact that Mäder did well in the previous race means that he has every right to hope for a good result in this event.

What needs to worry him is that he doesn’t have a great experience with the Tour de Suisse. He competed twice so far, with his best finish being the #27 position in the general classification. This year, I expect him to do much better.

“I hope that I do better this year than last year regarding the general classification. It’s a big goal to be among the leaders. But if it’s “only” a stage win, that wouldn’t be bad either”Gino Mäder about his Tour de Suisse ambitions

Mäder sure has what it takes to do well in this race, but if he fails, who will win the 2022 Tour de Suisse then? Peter Sagan comes to mind first, the man who’s one of the best cyclists of his generation. Even though he hasn’t been great since the start of the year, he needs to be considered a Tour de Suisse favorite.

Peter Sagan

Sagan’s Tour de Suisse odds will probably be longer than expected. One would think that the winner of 17 Grand Tour stages should be favored in almost every race. However, he just hasn’t been great this year. So far in 2022, Sagan’s best achievement is the #4 place in Stage 2 of the Tirreno-Adriatico in March.

One thing, however, is going in his favor. Sagan is an expert climber who loves mountainous races. And you can’t get much more mountainous than the Tour de Suisse!

Still, even though this race looks ideal for a rider like Sagan, the fact is that he hasn’t achieved much in the previous 10 Tour de Suisse races. He did do okay in some stages, but his best result in the general classification is the #30 finish. I’m positive he will do much better in the 2022 race.

Adam Yates

Here’s another rider who should be considered a Tour de Suisse favorite. The twin brother of La Vuelta winner Simon Yates, Adam is a fine rider with big plans for this season.

Last year we saw him win the Volta a Catalunya, which remains the greatest achievement of his career. He is yet to win a race in 2022 but judging by what we saw from him in his previous three races; the wait shouldn’t be too long.

In February, Yates finished in the #2 place in the UEA tour. His next race was the 2022 Paris-Nice, where he barely missed the podium, finishing in the #4 spot. He was in the competition for a podium finish in the Itzulia Basque Country race, but he then had to quit the race in the final stage.

Top 2022 Tour de Suisse Sleepers

This 2022 Tour de Suisse betting preview would be incomplete if I didn’t mention some young guns like Remco Evenepoel and Marc Hirschi. Still, these guys have yet to prove themselves on the big stage in their early twenties. Doing well in Switzerland would certainly put them in the spotlight.

The big question is whether one of them can win the 2022 Tour de Suisse? That’s the topic I’ll focus on next in my 2022 Tour de Suisse betting guide.

Remco Evenepoel

The 22-year-old Belgian might be the next big thing in professional cycling. The fact that Evenepoel’s contract with Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl will last until (at least) 2026 shows that his team has big plans for him.

Many see him as a future Grand Tour winner. So far, he’s already won a monument race and one classic.

In his fourth season as a pro, Evenepoel has already won five big races, including Liege–Bastogne–Liege, which finished on the last weekend of May. That said, his form is fantastic, and no one should be surprised if the youngster gets on the podium in the Swiss race.

Marc Hirschi

Born and raised in the Swiss Alps, Hirschi is a 23-year-old climbing specialist. So far in his four-year professional career, he’s won one classic race. The 2018 Le Fleche Wallonne was a one-day race held in Belgium.

Interestingly, even though he’s already achieved decent success in one-day races, he’s yet to do well in a stage race. The 2022 Tour de Suisse might be an ideal opportunity for him.

This will be the first time he’s competing in this race, and it’s needless to say that he’s very motivated to make his debut a successful one. He’s got the motivation, but his recent form isn’t that great.

Although he did start the 2022 season with a win in the Per Sempre Alfredo race, he hasn’t achieved much since. In fact, in his most recent race – the Tour de Romandie – Hirschi finished in the #21 place in the general classification.

Tour de Suisse Prediction for 2022

Gino Mäder is my Tour de Suisse betting pick. This is a perfect opportunity for the Swiss rider to win his first race of the season. Not only is he competing in his native country, but he seems to be in top shape right now.

I think he’s been building up his form so that he could be in his best shape for the 2022 Tour de Suisse. The evidence of this is that after finishing second in the Tour de Romandie on May 1, Mäder decided to take a 6-week break.

If my top Tour de Suisse pick fails me, I think we could see Peter Sagan or Adam Yates win. Of course, other riders like Remco Evenepoel or Marc Hirschi also shouldn’t be overlooked.

For those of you who agree with me, my following advice is to head over to the best online sportsbooks and place some bets. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments if you don’t agree with my 2022 Tour de Suisse prediction.
