The 2022 MLB All-Star Game features the best players from the AL and NL. The game no longer determines home-field advantage for the World Series, but there’s still much to play for.

This game should draw much betting interest, considering the star power of each team. Who wouldn’t want to bet on a game featuring Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, etc.?

My 2022 MLB All-Star Game betting guide examines the lineup for each team, potential prop bets, and betting tips. First, let’s take a look at the best sites for betting on the All-Star game this year.

When I first wrote this MLB All-Star game preview, odds weren’t out for the game itself. You should be able to find competitive pricing at the above sites now, though, and those happen to be some of the very best MLB sportsbooks you can find.

I typically look at each site to see who offers the best value. If this is your first time visiting any site, finding something that makes you feel comfortable is imperative.

These are my go-to sites for baseball betting. The 2022 MLB All-Star Game betting sites have released odds throughout the 2022 season. I wouldn’t expect any different for the Midsummer Classic.

MLB All-Star Game Festivities/Overview

  • When: Tuesday, July 19
  • Where: Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, CA
  • What Time: 8 p.m. ET
  • How to Watch: FOX
Dodger Stadium

Dodger Stadium will host the MLB All-Star Game for the second time. It has been two years since COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the 2020 All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

The MLB All-Star Game festivities aren’t exclusive to the game. The All-Star Futures Game is Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on Peacock. This game honors the up-and-coming prospects in baseball.

Monday night features the annual Home Run Derby. It’s a star-studded field featuring Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, and Albert Pujols. My 2022 MLB All-Star Game betting preview features many opportunities to wager on the festivities.

2022 MLB All-Star Game Starting Lineups

The starting lineups will significantly impact the MLB All-Star Game betting odds. Which superstars will be in the starting lineup for the AL and NL? You can find the pitchers and reserves by looking at the MLB All-Star Game rosters.

AL Lineup

The American League will have no shortage of stars in its lineup. Former MVPs Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani highlight a lineup that includes Aaron Judge, Rafael Devers, Giancarlo Stanton, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

It’s tough to pick the best player from the lineup, but Judge and Ohtani have separated themselves from the pack.

Judge has been the MVP favorite for the last two months. He’s hitting .279 with a league-leading 30 home runs. Judge has done this while leading the New York Yankees to the best record in baseball.

A recent surge from Ohtani may give him the upper hand in the MVP battle.

We don’t have an official lineup order, but Ohtani and Judge should be near the top. They’ll have plenty of help from Devers, Guerrero, and Trout.

Devers is among the most underrated superstars in the MLB. His .325 batting average is third in the majors. The Boston Red Sox has the fifth-best offense in the league, with Devers being the driving force.

Tim Anderson, Jose Altuve, and Alejandro Kirk round out the starting lineup for the AL. Yordan Alvarez has been the driving force behind the Houston Astros offense, but Altuve is having a solid season.

It’ll be interesting to see who’s the starting pitcher for the AL. Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan has the upper hand, leading the AL with a 1.71 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 3.7 WAR.

Justin Verlander is likely the only pitcher to battle for the starting spot. He doesn’t have a great WAR, but his ERA and WHIP are second among AL pitchers. Verlander leads the MLB with 11 wins.

Will your MLB All-Star Game prediction side with the AL? It’ll be tough to defeat their powerful lineup.

NL Lineup

The NL lineup doesn’t look as strong as the AL, but they have multiple stars on paper. Paul Goldschmidt, Mookie Betts, and Manny Machado have been at the forefront of the NL MVP race.

Betts and Machado play for better teams, but it’s hard to argue with Goldschmidt’s MVP case. The 34-year-old is by far having the best year of his career. Check out his numbers as he pursues his first MVP.

PAUL GOLDSCHMIDT
  • .332 batting average
  • 19 home runs
  • 67 RBIs

His home runs numbers aren’t on pace with the top power hitters, but he’s top-three in batting average and RBIs. Goldschmidt ranks second in WAR. Coincidentally, the St. Louis Cardinals have the top three players in WAR.

We’ll see two of the more exciting games in the majors starting for the NL, with Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ronald Acuna Jr. Chisholm is having a breakout season, hitting 14 home runs and 45 RBIs.

Acuna’s power numbers are down, but he’s one of the best players at his peak. Perhaps the Home Run Derby will lead to a big All-Star Game.

My 2022 MLB All-Star Game betting preview has spotlighted the Contreras brothers in the starting lineup.

Willson Contreras makes his third All-Star appearance, but it’ll be the first for William Contreras. Saying that the NL takes a hit with Bryce Harper missing the game.

There’s very little debate about the starting pitcher for the NL. Miami Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara has been the top pitcher throughout the season. He leads the NL with a 1.73 ERA, and his 5.1 WAR leads the majors.

Pedro Martinez had one of the greatest MLB All-Star Game performances. Will we see the same from Alcantara? He has the pitching repertoire to shut down the AL lineup.

Ranking the 7 Greatest MLB All-Star Game Performances

The MLB All-Star Game has been around since 1933. The game pits the best players from the AL and NL against each other in a marquee battle. There was big significance behind the game, too, as it was used to determine home-field advantage for the World Series....

Potential MLB All-Star Game Prop Bets

  • Run Total
  • Player Props (Home Run, RBI, Etc.)
  • Game MVP

Unfortunately, we don’t have MLB All-Star Game prop bets. We should see them released soon, and these will be among the most popular for bettors.

The spread and moneyline are the most common bet for most MLB games. The run total won’t solely focus on the final score. I expect the MLB All-Star Game props to feature the run total for each team, run total through five innings, and over/under 0.5 runs in the first inning.

I’ll be curious to see how people view the first-inning prop. We’ll see the best hitters on display, but they’ll have a tough time against Shane McClanahan and Sandy Alcantara.

Player props are always a fun way to wager on MLB games. The MLB All-Star Game prop bets should allow you to wager on players recording a hit, home run, and RBI. We know people will take their chance with the home run prop.

Aaron Judge would be my favorite for AL players. He should have three at-bats and will likely enter the All-Star Game as the league leader in home runs. I’m looking at the NL bench for potential home run leaders.

Check out the league leaders in home runs for the NL players.

Baseball next to base
  • Kyle Schwarber: 28
  • Pete Alonso: 23
  • C.J. Cron: 20

How will the MLB All-Star Game betting odds view the MVP? We’re likely looking at a position player, as Shane Bieber is the only pitcher to win All-Star Game MVP in the last eight years.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr won last year after going 1-3 with a home run and two RBIs. I don’t want to spoil my prediction, but I highly recommend picking an MVP on the team you expect to win.

MLB All-Star Game Betting Tips

It wouldn’t be a 2022 MLB All-Star Game betting guide without a few betting tips. This will put you in a better position when the sportsbooks release odds for the Midsummer Classic.

Look Beyond the Starting Lineup

The starting lineup for each team features the best players in the league. However, it would help if you didn’t solely focus on them when making your prediction.

These players will be in the game for no more than five or six innings. We’ve seen a pair of 15-inning games, giving reserve players the spotlight.

We probably won’t see an extra inning game, but bench players will play at least 2-3 innings. That’s important because they’ll be in during the most crucial time of the game. You never know who will be the hero of the MLB All-Star Game.

Bullpen Pitchers Make a Difference

This can serve as an extension of my last betting tip. The starting pitcher likely won’t pitch more than two innings. We’ll see other starters pitch, but relievers appear around the sixth inning.

Check out the relief pitchers in the 2022 MLB-All-Star Game.

AL Relievers NL Relievers
Clay Holmes Edwin Diaz
Emmanuel Clase Ryan Hesley
Jorge Lopez David Bedner
Gregory Soto Joe Mantiply

We won’t see all eight pitchers unless the game goes into extra innings. Still, I expect at least four or five bullpen pitchers in the game. They could be the difference-maker in your prediction.

Bet on the Under

The NFL Pro Bowl and NBA All-Star Game feature no defense. Therefore, bettors always take the over because of the high-scoring games. That’s not the case with the MLB All-Star Game. We’ve seen many low-scoring games over the years.

Check out the All-Star Games with more than eight runs since 2006.

Baseball scoreboard
  • 2007: 9 runs
  • 2015: 9 runs
  • 2018: 14 runs

We’ve seen quite a few games reach seven runs, but it’s uncommon to see anything more. It’ll be interesting to see if the run total opens at 6.5, 7.5, or 8.5 on the top US sportsbooks. I’m taking the under at 7.5 or higher.

Betting on the MLB All-Star Game in 2022

MLB logo on baseball field

The MLB All-Star Game festivities should bring much excitement, but everyone will have their eyes on Tuesday’s All-Star Game. My 2022 MLB All-Star Game betting preview should help for future betting.

I believe the NL has a better pitching staff, but I’m taking the AL to win the 2022 MLB All-Star Game. It’ll be tough to slow down their potent offense. Their bullpen has the upper hand, especially with the NL missing Josh Hader.

That concludes my 2022 MLB All-Star Game betting guide. Feel free to visit the best MLB All-Star Game betting sites to wager on the game.
