La Liga Betting Odds for 2022-23

If the 2022-23 La Liga champion betting odds at BetOnline are anything to go by, the title battle is set to be a two-horse race between Real Madrid (+105) and Barcelona (+150).
As I already mentioned, Barcelona finished 13 points behind Real Madrid last season. But having won four titles in five seasons between 2014-15 and 2018-19, the Catalans will be confident of reclaiming the crown next year.
As usual, Atletico Madrid (+450) is viewed as the biggest threat to the two frontrunners. Diego Simeone’s boys clinched their second title in eight seasons in 2020-21, proving they’ve got what it takes to outperform Real and Barca.
It is worth noting that Real Betis (+10000) finished fifth last season, seven points clear of Villarreal. With that in mind, Betis’ odds to win La Liga 2022-23 look seriously attractive.
Athletic Bilbao (+15000) and Valencia (+25000) are the only other teams with odds of under +50000. The remaining 11 sides are priced between +50000 and +200000.
If you plan to bet on La Liga from Spain or elsewhere in Europe, shop around at the best European sports betting sites. Before you check out those sites, let’s analyze the top contenders for the 2022-23 La Liga title – starting with Real Madrid.
What Makes Real Madrid the 2022-23 La Liga Betting Favorite?

Real Madrid was the best team in La Liga by a considerable margin last season. In recent years, the top two or three teams have only been separated by a handful of points. But Los Blancos finished 13 points clear of their nearest rival last term.
Ancelotti’s men lost just four of their 38 games in 2021-22, picking up 26 wins and eight draws. They enjoyed several unbeaten runs along the way and even claimed nine victories in ten outings towards the end of the campaign.
In addition to notching the best offensive record, Real achieved the second-best defensive record. After scoring 80 goals and conceding 31, the champions ended up with a huge goal difference of +49.
2021-22 LA LIGA FINAL STANDINGS (TOP 6) | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Club | Wins | Draws | Losses | GD | Points |
Real Madrid | 26 | 8 | 4 | +49 | 86 |
Barcelona | 21 | 10 | 7 | +30 | 73 |
Atletico Madrid | 21 | 8 | 9 | +22 | 71 |
Sevilla | 18 | 16 | 4 | +23 | 70 |
Real Betis | 19 | 8 | 11 | +23 | 65 |
Real Sociedad | 17 | 11 | 10 | +3 | 62 |
Many players starred throughout Real Madrid’s title-winning campaign, but there is no denying that Karim Benzema was the show’s star. The French striker bagged 27 goals and 12 assists, making a mockery of the Golden Boot race.
Vinicius Junior was immense, too, racking up 17 goals and 13 assists. If the Brazilian youngster continues to progress at his current rate, there is no reason why he can’t become of the best La Liga players of all time.
Better still, the defending champions have one of the greatest managers in soccer history at the helm. Following last season’s triumph, Ancelotti is the only manager to have won the top-flight title in all of Europe’s “Big 5” leagues.
Thanks to his trademark poker face, “Don Carlo” is among the top soccer coaches that could probably gamble professionally.
Can Barcelona Reclaim the La Liga Title in 2022-23?

The Catalans made a terrible start to the previous campaign by their own high standards. After winning just four of their opening 12 games, they found themselves all the way down in ninth place.
However, everything changed in October when Xavi replaced Ronald Koeman in the Camp Nou hot seat.
Barcelona enjoyed a mammoth 15-game unbeaten streak between December and April, securing 11 wins and four draws in the process. They even chalked up seven straight victories during that period, including a 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid.
Granted, Barca’s off-field issues are a cause for concern. The club is in deep financial trouble, with debts in the region of €1 billion. But that hasn’t prevented Xavi from bolstering to his squad.
The Catalans added Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres to their ranks last season. Earlier this summer, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen arrived on free transfers before Raphinha joined from Leeds United for €58 million.
I fully expect Barcelona to keep pace with Real Madrid throughout the upcoming campaign. Having strengthened significantly during the offseason, the 26-time champions are ready to compete again for the top prize.

Will Atletico Madrid Upset the La Liga Odds Once Again?

If you already know a thing or two about Spanish soccer, you won’t be surprised to see Real Madrid and Barcelona atop the La Liga betting odds for 2022-23.
After all, the two powerhouses have claimed a colossal 61 titles between them over the years.
Still, there is a reason why all the best sports betting sites view Atletico Madrid as Real and Barca’s closest challenger.
“The Mattress Makers” find themselves third on La Liga’s all-time title leaderboard. Plus, they are the only team to have prevented either Real or Barca from securing the silverware in the previous 18 seasons.
MOST LA LIGA TITLES
- Real Madrid (35)
- Barcelona (26)
- Atletico Madrid (11)
- Athletic Bilbao (8)
- Valencia (6)
- Real Sociedad (2)
- Deportivo La Caruna (1)
- Sevilla (1)
- Real Betis (1)
Diego Simeone was appointed as Atletico’s manager in 2011. Since the 2012-13 campaign, Simeone’s men have registered ten straight top-three finishes – triumphing in 2013-14 and 2020-21. They also snatched the runner-up spot in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Although Atletico Madrid finished third last season – 15 points behind Real Madrid – you would be foolish to write them off when making your La Liga prediction for the 2022-23 title.
In Jan Oblak, Atletico boasts one of the best goalkeepers in world soccer. With other superstars like Antoine Griezmann, Joao Felix, Jose Maria Gimenez, and Marcos Llorente on board, Simeone’s side must be viewed as a genuine title contender.
2022-23 La Liga Outsiders Worth Keeping an Eye On
This 2022-23 La Liga betting guide would not be complete without a look at the potential title sleepers, right?
We all know that Real Madrid and Barcelona will be difficult to beat, while Atletico Madrid remains the biggest threat to the top two. But there is no shortage of betting value as you make your way down the 2023 La Liga odds list.
Here are three outsiders to keep an eye on.
Sevilla (+1600)
I think the Sevillistas can count themselves as pretty unlucky to have finished fourth last season. Granted, they only finished three points behind second-place Barcelona. But they could – and probably should – have finished higher.
Thanks to a run of just two defeats across their first 29 games in 2021-22, Julen Lopetegui’s boys occupied a second place between December and March. However, they fell away towards the end of the campaign.
It is also worth noting that Lopetegui’s boys achieved the best defensive record last term, racking up a whopping 17 clean sheets along the way. You know what they say – attack wins you games; defense wins you titles.
Real Betis (+10000)
Priced at +5000, Real Sociedad and Villarreal come after Sevilla in the bookies’ 2022-23 La Liga title odds. In my eyes, though, Real Betis offers far greater value at +10000.
The Green and Whites claimed fifth place last season, finishing three points clear of sixth-place Sociedad and six points ahead of seventh-place Villarreal. They also racked up more victories and more goals than Sevilla.
Having won the 2021-22 Copa del Rey, Betis will be hungry for more silverware. Thankfully, the club is managed by the uber-experienced Manuel Pellegrini – who led Manchester City to the 2013-14 English Premier League title.

Valencia (+25000)
Maybe it’s the soccer romantic in me, but I would Valencia to win the La Liga title once again.
Valencia dominated Spanish soccer in the early 2000s, clinching two top-flight titles in three seasons between 2001-02 and 2003-04. They even reached two UEFA Champions League finals during the same era.
Since then, the fallen giant has registered eight top-four finishes but has failed to lift the trophy. Having bagged a hat-trick of third-place finishes in the 2010s, could this finally be the season that Valencia returns to the summit of Spanish soccer?
My La Liga Prediction for 2022-23
So, who will win La Liga in 2022-23?
The latest La Liga winner odds suggest that Real Madrid and Barcelona are in a league of their own. Despite the threat of Atletico Madrid and the potential of teams like Sevilla and Real Betis, I have to agree with the bookies’ viewpoint.
Real Madrid was head and shoulders above everyone else last season. Powered by the goals and assists of Benzema and Vinicius, Los Blancos look set to enjoy another successful campaign.
Given that you can more than double your money by backing the defending champions, I recommend jumping on Real Madrid’s price before the bookies change their minds.
Hopefully, my 2022-23 betting preview for La Liga will help you win some money. Whichever team you decide to back this year, be sure to use only the best La Liga betting sites to wager on Spanish soccer.
