The 2022 Indian Premier League has already dished up its fair share of surprises. I mean, who would have thought that Mumbai Indians would be winless after seven matches?

As we approach the halfway point in the regular season, it feels like the perfect time to put together an IPL betting update. After all, there is plenty of value on offer right now.

I have scoured the top Indian Premier League betting sites to find the best IPL picks for 2022. After analyzing the leading contenders and potential sleepers, I will share my 2022 IPL prediction with you.

Let’s examine the latest Indian Premier League odds and go from there.

Latest 2022 IPL Winner Odds

Royal Challengers Bangalore4.20
Gujarat Titans5.50
Rajasthan Royals+5.50
Sunrisers Hyderabad7.50
Kolkata Knight Riders8.00
Lucknow Super Giants8.00
Delhi Capitals10.00
Chennai Super Kings21.00
Punjab Kings21.00
Mumbai Indians101.00

Here are the latest odds for the 2022 Indian Premier League winner, courtesy of Betway.

According to Betway’s IPL odds, Royal Challengers Bangalore (4.50) are favored to lift the trophy at this stage. Sanjay Bangar’s boys are in a strong position, having won five of their first seven matches.

Gujarat Titans (5.50) and Rajasthan Royals (5.50) are viewed as RCB’s nearest rivals. The Titans find themselves level with RCB on ten points, while the Royals are two points behind in third place.

Betway believes there is very little between Sunrisers Hyderabad (7.50), Kolkata Knight Riders (8.00), Lucknow Super Giants (8.00), and Delhi Capitals (10.00). Just two points in the standings separate all those teams.

Chennai Super Kings (21.00) and Punjab Kings (21.00) are evenly priced. Despite clinching their fourth IPL title last year, the Super Kings have lost five of their seven matches this season.

Believe it or not, Mumbai Indians (101.00) have pretty much blown their chances of triumphing in 2022. After suffering seven consecutive losses, the five-time champions find themselves at rock bottom of the standings.

Speaking of the standings, let’s look at the current table. Analyzing the standings will only enhance your chances of making a successful 2022 IPL prediction.

Current 2022 Indian Premier League Standings

Of course, the craziest thing about the current IPL standings is the fact that Mumbai Indians are in last place without a single point to their name. However, we need to concentrate on the opposite end of the table to find the top IPL picks for 2022.

Since only the top four teams qualify for the playoffs, Mumbai Indians would have to win all their remaining matches to stand any chance of finishing inside the top four.

Team Games Wins Losses Net Run Rate Points
Gujarat Titans 6 5 1 0.395 10
Royal Challengers Bangalore 7 5 2 0.251 10
Rajasthan Royals 6 4 2 0.380 8
Lucknow Super Giants 7 4 3 0.124 8
Sunrisers Hyderabad 6 4 2 –0.077 8
Delhi Capitals 6 3 3 0.942 6
Kolkata Knight Riders 7 3 4 0.160 6
Punjab Kings 7 3 4 –0.562 6
Chennai Super Kings 7 2 5 –0.534 4
Mumbai Indians 7 0 7 –0.892 0

It’s fair to say that Gujarat Titans are enjoying an impressive debut season in the Indian Premier League. Not only have they won five of their opening six matches, but they have also achieved the best net run rate.

RCB has also picked up five wins this year, although the Bangalore franchise has suffered two defeats. Still, the Royal Challengers are ahead of RR, LSG, and SRH, who each have eight points.

Delhi, Kolkata, and Punjab are locked on six points, with Chennai in ninth place on four points. The Super Kings still have time to turn their season around, but the chances of defending their crown are slim.

It’s time to look at the 2022 Indian Premier League betting favorites.

Analyzing the 2022 IPL Betting Favorites

At this moment in time, Betway’s 2022 IPL odds suggest there are three leading contenders to clinch the title. Below, I assess the chances of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Titans, and Rajasthan Royals.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (4.50)

Could this be the year that Bangalore FINALLY wins the Indian Premier League?

Despite having reached three IPL finals over the years, the Royal Challengers have never managed to get their hands on the top prize.

Led by the ageless Faf du Plessis, the Royal Challengers have won five of their seven games this season. Let’s not forget that RCB also boasts world-class names like Glenn Maxwell and Virat Kohli – one of the best IPL players of all time.

Although Bangalore trails Gujarat in the standings, the bookmakers believe RCB has the upper hand as we near the halfway mark.

Gujarat Titans (5.50)

Prior to the start of the season, it was difficult to predict how Gujarat Titans would fare in their maiden IPL campaign. They find themselves among the favorites to win the title fast-forward to today.

This year, the debutants have already dispatched Lucknow, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Chennai. As a result, they are sitting pretty atop the IPL table after suffering a solitary defeat in six outings.

Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill have both racked up 200+ runs, while David Miller averages 96.50 with a strike rate of 160.83. As for the bowlers, Mohammad Shami, Lockie Ferguson, and Rashid Khan have all starred with the ball.

The Titans may be a new franchise, but they have bags of experience in their ranks. Don’t be surprised if they go deep into the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals (5.50)

With Jos Buttler leading the Orange Cap race and Yuzvendra Chahal topping the Purple Cap leaderboard, Rajasthan looks seriously strong in every department this season.

While Chahal has taken 17 wickets – four more than his closest challenger – Buttler has smashed 375 runs. The Englishman became only the sixth player to score multiple hundreds in the same IPL season when he notched his second century of the campaign against KKR.

Player Team Runs
Jos Buttler Rajasthan Royals 375
KL Rahul Lucknow Super Giants 265
Faf du Plessis Royal Challengers Bangalore 250
Shivman Dube Chennai Super Kings 239
Shreyas Iyer Kolkata Knight Riders 236

As you can see, Betway views Buttler as the out-and-out favorite to claim the Orange Cap. If he carries on the way he’s going, he could fire his team to glory this year.

  • Jos Buttler (1.36)
  • KL Rahul (13.00)
  • Faf du Plessis (15.00)
  • Shreyas Iyer (17.00)
  • Robin Uthappa (21.00)

2022 Indian Premier League Sleepers to Consider

This Indian Premier League betting update would not be complete without looking at the teams that could upset the IPL odds. The sides in the section are priced between 8.00 and 21.00, so they are worth keeping an eye on.

Lucknow Super Giants (8.00)

Like Gujarat, Lucknow is enjoying an impressive debut season in the IPL. The Super Giants have won four of their seven matches so far, claiming victories over CSK, SRH, DC, and MI.

Thanks to the exploits of key performers like KL Rahul (265 runs) and Avesh Khan (11 wickets), the newcomers find themselves in a strong position to challenge for a playoff spot.

Rahul finished as the tournament’s top run-scorer in 2020 before smashing the most sixes in 2021. The lethal opener has established himself as one of the most consistent batters in the game, giving LSG a genuine chance of winning the title this year.

Delhi Capitals (10.00)

It wouldn’t be unfair to say that Delhi has made an indifferent start to the season. After registering three wins and three losses from their opening six games, the Capitals sit two points outside the top four.

Still, it would be foolish to write off DC when making your 2022 IPL winner prediction. Why? Because DC has not finished outside the top three in each of the previous three seasons.

Delhi’s squad is littered with top overseas players, including David Warner, Mitch Marsh, Mustafizur Rahman, and Lungi Ngidi. But it’s a homegrown star that is shining brightest for the Capitals this year.

Player Team Wickets
Yuzvendra Chahal Rajasthan Royals 17
Kuldeep Yadav Delhi Capitals 13
Dwayne Bravo Chennai Super Kings 12
T Natarajan Sunrisers Hyderabad 12
Avesh Khan Lucknow Super Giants 11

As the table above details, Kuldeep Yadav sits second on the Purple Cap leaderboard with 13 wickets under his belt. This season, the Indian spinner could hold the key to his team’s success.

Chennai Super Kings (21.00)

Prior to the tournament, many of the top cricket betting sites favored the Super Kings to defend their crown in 2022. However, their price plummeted after they lost their first four matches.

Since then, the reigning champions have upped their game. Thanks to a run of two wins in three outings, they are only four points outside the playoff places and appear to be have the wind in their sails.

MS Dhoni was the star of the show as CSK claimed a dramatic final-ball victory over MI last time out. The iconic finisher bludgeoned 16 runs off the final four deliveries to snatch the win for his team, proving that he has still got what it takes.

Given that other world-class players such as Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and Dwayne Bravo are beginning to shine, Betway’s price of 21.00 for CSK to clinch the title feels very generous.

My IPL Prediction for 2022

There are many advantages when it comes to assessing the mid-season IPL odds. First and foremost, there is some excellent betting value to take advantage of.

Since the top five teams are separated by two points, predicting who will win the Indian Premier League in 2022 is no easy task. But if you play your cards right, you could make a tasty profit.

As it stands, I like the look of the Rajasthan Royals at 5.50. With Buttler and Chahal leading the way, the Royals stand an excellent chance of clinching their first IPL title since 2008.

In terms of the sleepers, Chennai Super Kings look like a great outside bet at 21.00. Although the reigning champions made a slow start to the season, there is no reason why they can’t fight back and defend their crown.

That is my current IPL prediction. The Royals are my 2022 Indian Premier League pick, but I also recommend keeping a close eye on the Super Kings.
