2020 Daytona 500 DFS Picks to Help You Set Your Lineup

Imagine the excitement you’d experience coming down the final few laps of the 2020 Daytona 500 if you have a serious sweat on DraftKings. Those who are familiar with playing NASCAR DFS on DK know what I am referring to, but I’ll quickly fill the others in.
This week, DraftKings has generated loads of GPPs surrounding “The Great American Race,” including one that’s shelling out $150,000 to whoever wins. All you have to do is spend $10 on an entry and lock in six drivers while staying under the allotted salary cap.
Our team at GamblingSites.com has been working hard to deliver plenty of Daytona 500 guides and previews, and these Daytona 500 DFS picks and value plays can help you profit in yet another way.
Denny Hamlin – $10,400
When I was contemplating my 2020 Daytona 500 winner prediction, it was hard not to pull the trigger on Denny Hamlin. The defending champion at Daytona International Speedway clearly has an affinity for this racetrack, which is why I wouldn’t suggest leaving him off your roster on DraftKings.
With five finishes inside the top 4 at Daytona since 2014, it’s going to be hard to justify fading Denny on Sunday.
Ryan Blaney – $9,300
Team Penske is in terrific hands at the 2020 Daytona 500. However, while many NASCAR fans will be heading up their lineups with either Brad Keselowski or Joey Logano, I recommend pivoting down to their teammate Ryan Blaney.
At just 26 years old, the Ohio native has quietly landed inside the top 10 in the NASCAR Cup Series standings in each of the last three years. And don’t forget, he also has a runner-up finish at the Daytona 500 (2017) on his resume.
William Byron – $8,300
William Byron is a NASCAR driver who needs to be on your radar not just at the 2020 Daytona 500 but moving forward all season long. With Chad Knaus — the longtime crew chief for Jimmie Johnson — calling the shots for Byron’s no. 24 car at Hendrick Motorsports, up is the only direction William can go.
Byron won the pole at the 2019 Daytona 500 and knows what it takes to prosper on this racetrack. Also worth noting, William finished second at the 2019 Coke Xero Sugar 400, which was also held at the acclaimed Daytona International Speedway.
Jimmie Johnson – $8,200
Despite 2020 being his final year racing a full schedule in the NASCAR Cup Series, it’s still way too early to write Jimmie Johnson off. Jimmie flew around the track during qualifying with a top speed of 193.886 mph, and he appears prepared to drive a good race on Sunday.
Not only do I like him at $8,200 on DK, but I spotted him at +2500 to win at one of the top Daytona 500 betting sites. I didn’t waste much time locking it in.
Kyle Larson – $8,000
My blog highlighting 4 Daytona 500 sleepers worth betting on sheds light on why I’m intrigued by Kyle Larson this weekend. I’ll sum it up here by telling you that he finished fourth at last Sunday’s Clash, proving he knows how to navigate his vehicle regardless of what’s happening around him.
On top of that, Kyle racked up 17 top-10s last year on the circuit, including finishing 7th at the 2019 Daytona 500.
Ty Dillon – $5,700
Ty Dillon secured the fastest time in the opening Daytona 500 practice, plus he wound up 6th at last year’s Daytona 500. His best finish in 2019 was a 4th place at the Coke Zero 400 in July — a race that also takes place at Daytona International Speedway.
Ty clearly loves his Chevy this week, and he’s got the pedigree to produce another solid finish.
Quite frankly, latching onto the grandson of Richard Childress and younger brother of Austin Dillon at just $5,700 has “bargain” written all over it.
My Lineup in GPPs for the 2020 Daytona 500
- Denny Hamlin $10,400
- Ryan Blaney $9,300
- William Byron $8,300
- Jimmie Johnson $8,200
- Kyle Larson $8,000
- Ty Dillon $5,700
Don’t worry about leaving $100 on the table and thinking you need to make edits. Remember, the NAS $888k America’s Race GPP on DraftKings is going to have more than 100,000 entries, so not using up the entire salary gives your lineup a better chance of being unique.
Throwing in a wildcard like Ty Dillon alongside stalwarts like Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney should help you stand out. Rostering three guys bunched together in pricing (Byron, Johnson, Larson) also increases the likelihood that your roster doesn’t get duplicated.
The only thing left is to submit an entry on DK and see what pans out on Sunday!
