Today’s Group B schedule of the North American BLAST Premier Showdown stage features a decisive bout between 100 Thieves and Cloud9.

Both organizations have struggled in the tournament so far and will look at this matchup as a great opportunity to kickstart a good run.

AZR’s Australians are given the nod here and this comes as no surprise. Cloud9 has shown flashes of its brilliance but have been unable to wrap up their previous two fixtures.

Can they make a statement against one of the most solid American teams at the moment? Let’s turn to my analysis and see if we can figure out how the game will pan out.

The Thieves topped their DreamHack group after overcoming both Gen.G and Cloud9 with dominant performances.

AZR, jkaem, and jks were all hitting the spot, however, they haven’t been able to carry the same form into the BLAST Premier event so far.

They are still the team’s main engine but a loss to Evil Geniuses and a draw against lowly Triumph means they need to step up their game here.

Today’s matchup is a great opportunity to do that as the Thieves have been highly successful against Cloud9 in the past and they will feel confident after seeing their opponents blow away a couple of big leads since the start of the competition.

The Americans looked to have the tie against Triumph in the bag but a lackluster display in the closing stages of the Dust II round condemned to a defeat in the first fixture.

The scenario repeated itself yesterday when JT and his guys romped to a 12-3 lead, only to allow EG to stage one of the most impressive comebacks in recent CS:GO history and clinch the tie with a 16-14 scoreline.

This all can have massive repercussions for the team and they will be in desperate need of a pick-me-up today.

JT’s tactics will be very important but the team’s strengths lies with marksmen floppy and oSee and an elite performance will be needed from them if they are to salvage anything against an uncomfortable opponent like 100 Thieves.

I’m backing the Thieves to clinch this as Cloud9’s confidence should be in tatters right now.

Underestimating a lower-ranked team can happen to anyone but the manner in which they lost to Evil Geniuses is quite worrying.

When you also consider the fact that the last two meetings between these organizations ended in blowout wins for the Australians, I just can’t see how JT and his teammates will be able to squeeze past here.

They have a big advantage on Overpass but the Thieves know that quite well and I will be shocked if the round is played on that venue.

Anything else should be fair game and AZR, jkaem and jks are in better form right now so I’m siding with the great odds for an outright win for the Thieves.
