The Best Germany Bitcoin Gambling Sites in 2021
Germans have it pretty good when it comes to Bitcoin. Germany has been progressive in terms of creating and updating their laws for buying, selling, using, and holding onto crypto.
It’s also legal to gamble online in Germany. Germans can even join offshore gambling sites with zero consequences. Not every country can say the same thing.
So why not put the two together? Join a Bitcoin gambling site that allows you to deposit and use Bitcoin to play or bet on your favorite games and matches.
It’s hard to tell unless you’ve played at one of these sites or have read our reviews, but every site we recommended above (and throughout the site) is a high-quality site that’s chock full of games and betting opportunities.
In fact, you should read our reviews. After you read one, you’ll see that our recommendations aren’t made lightly. We spend hours on every review, testing each gambling site firsthand and researching their background.
You’ll also learn all the important information you need to know before you choose a site. That includes the games you can play, betting opportunities, features, banking options, promos, and more.
The bottom line – we’d never recommend a gambling site we wouldn’t play at ourselves. In fact, many of our team members are customers at the sites we recommend.
That’s how you know you can trust our recommendations.
That said, if you’re unsure about using Bitcoin, or if you’re not sure that an all-in-one site is right for you, we have published pages on our website that recommend other gambling sites you might be interested in.
We’ll also share a few additional resources towards the end of this guide that you might be interested in.
Before we get to that, though, we’re going to talk about using Bitcoin in Germany. Then we’ll provide a few tips for how to find a trustworthy gambling site to join.
The Interest in and Legalities of Using Bitcoin in Germany
One of the first questions Germans ask is whether or not Bitcoin is legal to use in their country. Well, they’re in for some good news. Bitcoin is legal to use.
In fact, in August 2013, the German Finance Ministry said that Bitcoin is a unit of account and that it can be used for taxes and trading. It’s considered private money instead of e-money.
In early 2018, the country decided that purchases made with Bitcoin won’t be taxed. Part of the reasoning for their decision is that they deem Bitcoin to be a legal form of payment. Money made from mining Bitcoin won’t be taxed, either.
Even cooler yet – if Germans are involved in a private sale that doesn’t exceed 600 euros, they won’t be taxed. And if they buy and hold crypto for one year or longer, they won’t have to pay capital gains tax.
What’s neat about this for investors is that, even if Bitcoin or whatever crypto you’ve invested in takes a dive, the money you save by not having to pay taxes on your gains can offset some of your losses.
This might encourage even more people to get involved with Bitcoin – although interest in cryptocurrencies is already high in Germany, according to a survey. The most interested demographic was the 18-34-year-old range.
What was also interesting about this survey is that it showed that 20% of Germans claim to have in-depth knowledge of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency investing.
Experts suggest you use caution if you identify with this group. They say that many people overestimate how much they truly know thanks to all the hype a topic receives in the media. And Bitcoin has received a lot of hype in the past couple of years.
They also say that people need to do their research, especially in the areas of risk and taxes. We recommend you consult with an accountant and/or lawyer for any questions you have in those areas.
However, we can help you with some of the basics. In a later section, we’ll provide links to several guides on our website that will help you navigate the world of investing in and using Bitcoin.
8-Step Checklist to Choosing the Best Bitcoin Gambling Site
One of the first choices you need to make is which gambling site you’re going to join. There are tons – literally dozens – of sites to choose from, too. This can lead to a bit of overwhelming.
The easiest way to avoid this overwhelm is to use our recommendations above. These recommendations are geared towards a general audience who want to use Bitcoin to gamble online.
If you don’t want to use our recommendations, that’s okay. You just need to realize that you’ll need to choose one on your own and that it can be a bit of a challenge.
To help you out, we wanted to give you a checklist of all the important items a gambling site should have. If the gambling site you’re thinking about joining doesn’t check the following boxes, you might want to reconsider signing up there.
Does the Gambling Site Have a License?
Any license is better than no license. However, we prefer gambling sites that have licenses through jurisdictions or gambling commissions such as the UKGC, AGCC, and MGA. We talk more about these gambling regulators and jurisdictions in our jurisdiction section.
Does the Site Accept Bitcoin?
Pretty obvious. If you want to use Bitcoin to gamble online, you need to make sure the gambling site accepts it.
Can You Play in Bitcoin?
Some gambling sites will accept Bitcoin, but then convert it to a different currency for you to play in. This means you’ll receive more/less of a different currency, may have to pay fees, and will not get to enjoy all the perks that come with gambling with Bitcoin.
Does the Casino Have the Types of Games, Variants, and Software You Want?
Every gambling site is different in terms of the games and variants they have, and the software they use. That’s because each gambling site operator works with a different mix of software providers.
If there’s a specific game, variant, or table stakes you’re after, then make sure to read our reviews before you join to ensure the gambling site has it.
Does the Sportsbook Offer Action on the Sports You Want to Bet On? Do They Cover the Markets You Want to Bet On?
Every gambling site’s sportsbook is different. Some will cover badminton, while others won’t. Some will offer action on handball, while others won’t.
Then you have the depth of coverage. Some sportsbooks will offer a couple hundred soccer markets, while others will have thousands.
You’ll want to compare sportsbooks to make sure they have the coverage you want.
Does the Poker Room Have Traffic?
There are lots of important variables you need to consider when choosing a poker room to join. But none of them matter if the poker room doesn’t have sufficient traffic for games to run.
The amount of traffic a room need varies. Many poker rooms operate on a network where they share traffic across several rooms. This helps boost traffic so that games run more often.
That said, many still don’t have great traffic levels. We recommend you find a site that has at least 5,000 players at any given time, and 10,000-20,000 (or higher) would be much better.
Are There Offers with Reasonable Terms That You Can Claim?
You’ll want to narrow this down to the specific types of gambling you plan to play. For example, if you plan to spend most of your time in the casino, then check out the site’s casino offers and terms.
The first thing you want to look at is the type of offer and size. Compare that with what you can get at a competing casino. Is the bonus larger or smaller? Is the match percentage larger or smaller? A larger percentage is ideal for players on a budget, as you get more bang for every buck you deposit.
The next thing you want to look at are the offer terms. The smaller the playthrough or the more lenient the terms, the better they are for you (usually). Make sure you compare sites, as playthroughs and bonus terms can vary drastically.
Does the Gambling Site Offer Several Contact Options?
Customer support is massively important. You’re going to be spending your hard-earned money – sometimes hundreds or thousands of dollars – at the casino. Casinos should get back to you fast with any questions or concerns you have.
We recommend looking for gambling sites that offer at least two communication channels. The most common are email and live chat. Give a site extra credit if they happen to offer phone support too.
You should also test the support channel you plan to use most. How fast does support respond? Are they helpful? Were your problems resolved?
Only then can you feel confident checking this box.
Anyway, these are the most important items by far. Any solid gambling site will be able to check every single box, with the exception of the gambling-specific options. For example, who cares if the poker room has traffic if you don’t plan to play there?
Beyond this, you’ll need to decide what’s important to you on a micro level. For example, think about the following – are any of these important to you?
- Whether you can play or bet from your smartphone or tablet
- If you can play provably fair games
- If you can deposit/withdraw in other cryptocurrencies
- The specific types of offers you can claim or rewards programs you can participate in
And so on.
Those are things only you can decide are important. However, stick to our checklist above at a bare minimum, and you’ll have a hard time not finding an excellent gambling site to join.
Which Type of Gambling Site Is Better?
Another decision you’ll have to make is to choose the specific type of site you’re going to join. There are a couple of variations to choose from.
The following are your options and some of the biggest upsides and downsides to joining each one.
All-In-One (AIO) Gambling Site vs. Specific Type of Gambling Site
There are two types of sites you can join.
The first is an all-in-one (AIO) gambling site. These are the sites that you’ll find recommended on pages such as this one. These sites offer multiple gambling options – usually a casino and sportsbook, and sometimes a poker and/or bingo room, too.
The other option is a gambling-specific site. These sites offer only one gambling option – either a sportsbook, casino, poker, or bingo room.
AIO gambling sites are convenient. With one account, you can gamble on whatever you want. You don’t need to split your bankroll up across several sites.
The trade-off is that one or two of the gambling options is good (if any of them are good), and the rest are subpar. In some cases, you might have a better experience playing at a product-specific gambling site.
Bitcoin-Exclusive or Hybrid Gambling Sites
Another decision you need to think about is whether you want to play at a Bitcoin-exclusive or hybrid gambling site.
A Bitcoin-exclusive site only accepts Bitcoin and sometimes other cryptocurrencies for payment. You can’t use credit cards, bank wires, or e-wallets at these sites.
The upside is that these sites offer the perks that come with using Bitcoin. For example, you’ll get to play anonymously, you can choose provably fair games, and transactions will be much faster.
The other option is to join a hybrid gambling site. These are sites that accept Bitcoin and fiat currencies. For example, debit cards, e-wallets, and more.
There aren’t too many benefits of going this route that you wouldn’t get from a Bitcoin-exclusive site. Hybrid sites are more trustworthy because they’ve been around longer. But that’s probably it, and this will hardly be a benefit in the near future.
Which Is Better?
There isn’t a better or worse option. A better way to think about this is the type of site you think you’d enjoy the most. If it were us, we’d probably aim for an AIO Bitcoin-exclusive site first. We like the idea of being able to play casino games and bet on sports with one account while enjoying all the perks that come with using Bitcoin.
But there’s nothing that says that you can’t join more than one site. In some cases – especially for sports bettors and poker players – it’s practical to have more than one account.
Ultimately, you’ll have to decide what’s best for you. Hopefully the information above has helped. If you need more information before you decide, though, the following section will provide links to several guides that may help you out.
Best Beginners Guides for Online Gamblers
It can be challenging for first-time gamblers to get started. There’s so much to learn and do. Then you add using Bitcoin to the mix, and now your head wants to explode.
The good news is that we have several guides on our website dedicated to helping beginners. The following guides will help you get a basic understanding of each topic and provide some guidance as to what to learn or where to go next.
Spend a few days going through each of these guides, and you’ll make the jump from beginner to intermediate pretty quickly. You’ll know how to gamble, how to gamble online, how to find a legit site, how to choose and play games, and loads more.
German gamblers have it good.
You can buy, sell, use, invest, or hold Bitcoin legally. Play your cards right, and you can even avoid paying taxes on your Bitcoin.
Just make sure you do your homework before you get started. Don’t be part of that 20% that thinks they know everything, only to get a rude awakening later on that you don’t.
You can avoid that by first talking to an accountant and/or lawyer. Then fill in the blanks with the crypto and gambling guides we listed above. You’ll be a pro before you know it.
The only step remaining is to choose a site to join. You can find one on your own, but the fastest way to find a quality gambling site is to scroll back to the top of this page and choose a gambling site from the list above.
You can thank us later.
