Utah Jazz vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Noah Davis

This is a really tough slate to find a game to fall in love with, but I am digging OKC as very mild home favorites. The Thunder enter the night at 40-24 and are fighting for a top-three seed in the Western Conference, as well as first place in the Northwest Division.

Whether OKC gets there or not, this is a huge game against the rival Utah Jazz. The Thunder come into this game in terrific form, as they’re 8-2 over their last 10 games and have ripped off three straight wins.

OKC isn’t unbeatable at home, but they’re still a solid 20-13. The Thunder also happen to own the very best against the spread record (40-24) on the year. Their success rate ATS does dip at home and when they’re favored, however.

So far the season series is split, with both of the two meetings this year being very low-scoring. With OKC and Utah ranking 20th and 25th respectively in pace, the Under is at risk here.

Utah is battling for position just as much as OKC, but they’re just 5-5 over their last 10 games. Utah has been a solid 20-13 on the road this year, though, while their ATS numbers as dogs and road opponents are encouraging.

If the spread were a bit thicker, we could give Utah a look here. Unfortunately, OKC is in better form, these teams match up pretty well and the Thunder get this game in their own backyard.

This should be a close and likely low-scoring game. OKC stands out as the first pick as the straight up winner, while the Under (-110) is a nice secondary play.

  • Oklahoma City Thunder (-1.5)

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Sacramento Kings – Michael Wynn

It’s do or die time for the Pelicans and the Kings if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. Entering the game with identical records, victories at this point are a must if catching Memphis for the 8th seed in the West is part of the future.

Sacramento is 7-3 since returning from the All-Star break and is playing incredibly inspiring basketball. De’Aaron Fox has scored 20 or more points in eight of the team’s last nine games and has just five total turnovers over his last three outings.

I would have expected the Kings to be laying a point or two considering this game will be played at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, but instead, we can latch onto Luke Walton’s group getting two points if we place this bet at MyBookie.

I suggest you do exactly that.

  • Sacramento Kings (+2)

New York Knicks – Atlanta Hawks – Jerry Summer

The home record of the Hawks this regular season is almost respectable and the main issue of the team are the games on the road. That’s why I like Atlanta’s chances to beat the New York Knicks comprehensively tonight.

The visitors are struggling on both ends of the floor and just lost against the Wizards yesterday. I think that they might be tired and the Hawks should take advantage.

They are 5-5 in the last 10 games which shows some improvement, so another victory is on the cards in this game.

Tuesday, March 10th

Boston Celtics vs. Indiana Pacers – Noah Davis

The Boston Celtics head to Indiana to battle the Pacers on Tuesday night, in the process offering some fantastic value.

Indiana is a fun home underdog until you realize that they are down starting point guard Malcolm Brogdon. The fact that Victor Oladipo is questionable for this game and Jeremy Lamb is out for the year only makes matters worse.

The Pacers are 39-25 on the year and 21-10 at home, and have also fared well against the spread. Indy comes into this matchup at 25-19-2 against the spread when favored and 34-28-2 ATS overall.

Indiana also won the only other meeting so far this year, but that was when they were closer to full strength. The previous season, the Celtics took the season series, 3-1.

Boston has dropped their last two games, but the Celtics are slowly getting over a rash of injuries. Jaylen Brown is their only key player that has been ruled out for this showdown.

The Celtics enter Tuesday’s game with a 42-21 record and still have a shot at taking down the Atlantic Division. Boston has been the second best team in the NBA (38-23-2) against the spread and has crushed ATS (14-4) as the underdog.

Boston is getting healthy at the right time and this is a matchup they dominated a year ago. I see them getting the win here and at a -150 moneyline at BetOnline, the value is too good to pass up.

  • Boston Celtics to Win

Dallas Mavericks vs. San Antonio Spurs – Michael Wynn

The Mavericks are a much better basketball team than the Spurs, that’s not really debatable. That’s one reason to like Dallas tonight at the AT&T Center, but I’ll give you a couple more.

San Antonio has covered the spread just 31% of the time at home – the second-worst mark in all of the NBA. On the flip side, the Mavs are 20-9-2 against the spread as a visitor – which is the second-best mark in The Association.

There’s not much else to be said other than how underwhelming Gregg Popovich’s group has been. Kristaps Porzingis is coming off his first poor game in about a month, and I expect him to bounce back and ball out in tonight’s prime time spot.

Add everything up and a wager on the Mavericks makes all the sense in the world.

  • Dallas Mavericks (-3.5)

Orlando Magic vs. Memphis Grizzlies – Jerry Summer

For a brief moment, it seemed like the Memphis Grizzlies have entered a free-fall mode and would lose the last playoff place in the West. That’s when the team registered a couple of important wins and opened a gap of four victories ahead of the Pelicans.

I think that the momentum and the confidence the Grizzlies gathered will help them beat Orlando tonight. Magic’s poor record on the road suggests that the team doesn’t feel comfortable on most trips.

The absence of Jaren Jackson Jr. is the reason why the spread is only 2.5 points in favor of the visitors and while the big man is certainly a miss, the Grizzlies should be able to cope without him in this particular game.

  • Memphis Grizzlies (-2.5)

Monday, March 9th

Toronto Raptors vs. Utah Jazz – Noah Davis

NBA bettors don’t have a ton to work with on Monday, as The Association rolls out a tiny three-game NBA betting slate. That said, the game that stands out the most is this showdown between the Toronto Raptors (45-18) and Utah Jazz (42-21).

Utah has been rock solid at home (21-9), but they have not been all that reliable against the spread. The Jazz are just 30-31-2 ATS overall on the year, while they are 13-15-2 against the spread at home and 22-26-2 ATS as favorites.

Toronto comes into this game in great form, having won three in a row and six of their last 10. The Raptors usually are at their best up in Canada, but a stellar 22-9 road record shows they can get the job done away from home.

Beyond getting tough road wins, the Raptors are routinely in games regardless of where they’re playing. Toronto owns the 5th best against the spread mark on the year (34-28-1), but they have middling marks (15-15-1 and 8-9) ATS when on the road or seen as the underdog.

Toronto has owned this series lately, winning three straight games and seven of the last eight. The Raptors offer the more efficient defense and are also starting to get healthy. Big man Marc Gasol returned to play off the bench last night and Fred VanVleet could be back at any point.

There should be some mild concern in backing the Raptors considering they played last night, but a 4-5 record ATS with no rest doesn’t swing things either way for me.

Ultimately, you don’t even need Toronto to win here and this spread is a little too thick. All things considered, Toronto at +4.5 over at BetOnline feels like the play of the day.

  • Toronto Raptors (+4.5)

Charlotte Hornets vs. Atlanta Hawks – Michael Wynn

Charlotte strolls into Atlanta tonight to square off with the Hawks, and we can expect a whole bunch of points to be scored. Atlanta has surrendered at least 117 points in seven straight games – which shouldn’t surprise anybody considering the Hawks allow a whopping 119.2 points per game on average.

The over hits more than 59% of the time at the State Farm Arena, and there’s a bit of incentive if you place this bet at MyBookie. While the total is sitting at 224 at just about every top NBA sportsbook online, it’s still available at 223.5 at MyBookie.

  • Over 231.5

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Denver Nuggets – Jerry Summer

Both teams are not exactly at their best right now. The Bucks have lost two games in a row, while the Nuggets are 5-5 in their last ten encounters. A win here would be important to restore some momentum and I think that the home advantage and the Greek Freak’s injury should be enough to give Denver the edge.

The team has a strong defense and enough ways to punish the Bucks on the other end. The NBA leaders will struggle offensively without Giannis, so I’m going to back the Nuggets to clear the 5-point handicap offered by most betting sites.

Miami Heat vs. Washington Wizards – Michael Wynn

When it comes to teams in the NBA seeing their games go over the betting total, the Heat and Wizards both rank in the top five. Washington ranks dead last in the NBA surrendering a whopping 120.0 points per game, plus an average of 240 points have been scored during the Wizards last five contests.

As many points as the Wiz are capable of scoring at home, eclipsing 232 points is more than a reasonable ask.

Sacramento Kings vs. Portland Trail Blazers

After losing last night on the road in Phoenix, I expect Portland to come out firing on Saturday at home. The Trail Blazers desperately need to win games if they want to challenge Memphis for the 8th spot in the West, and a game at the Moda Center versus the Kings is a great opportunity to cut into the deficit.

Damian Lillard and company beat the Kings by 11 the last time these teams squared off, and I expect him and CJ McCollum to lead Portland to victory in today’s matchup as well.

Laying 3 points isn’t too big of a deal when I expect the Blazers to win this one fairly comfortably.

Miami Heat vs. New Orleans Pelicans – Noah Davis

Jimmy Butler leads his Miami Heat into New Orleans to take on Zion Williamson and the Pelicans on Friday night. This game gives us one of the best value bets on the entire slate, as the Heat enter as fun +106 underdogs.

I understand why, as Miami has been virtually unbeatable in South Beach this year, but incredibly pedestrian on the road. This should be a spot where we ignore that noise and just bet on the better team that’s coming at a discount, however.

For one, Miami is the far superior defensive team and they’re walking into an amazing matchup. New Orleans has one of the worst defenses in basketball, as they rank 20th in defensive efficiency and give up over 117 points per game.

The Pels make things worse on themselves by operating at the league’s 2nd fastest pace.

New Orleans still has a ton of talent and could sneak into the Western Conference playoffs, but that defense has been a problem for them during a three-game losing streak.

Miami offers too much value to pass up here and I think they get the win.

  • Miami Heat to Win

Indiana Pacers vs. Chicago Bulls – Michael Wynn

There are many reasons to be interested in backing the Pacers tonight in Chicago. Zach Lavine isn’t going to play as he nurses a sore left quad, while the Pacers are expecting to see Victor Oladipo rejoin the lineup after missing the past two games with discomfort in his right knee.

Indiana is 3-0 versus Chicago this season with an average margin of victory of 11 points. The Bulls cover the spread at home less than 44% of the time, as opposed to the Pacers who cover the spread close to 57% of the time as a visitor.

I had expected to see this line closer to Indiana -5 or 5.5, so I’m happy to back Indy laying just 3 points.

  • Indiana Pacers (-3)

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Dallas Mavericks – Jerry Summer

The Memphis Grizzlies have rediscovered their mojo for the final part of the season and their young guns are firing at all cylinders. This is a team determined to reach the playoffs and they will need all the momentum in the world, considering the tough schedule ahead.

The next match is against the Mavericks in Dallas and this one should be a feast for the neutrals. The historic offense of the home team will be hard to stop, but the Grizzlies have more than enough in the arsenal too.

That’s why I’m going for the over here, as the line of 226.5 points seems a bit on the low end.

Thurday, March 5th

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Sacramento Kings – Noah Davis

The Philadelphia 76ers look like a tough team to trust at the moment, as they’re down two superstars in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Those are huge losses, but the Sixers are still 5-point underdogs against a weak Sacramento Kings team. With Tobias Harris and Al Horford leading the charge and Shake Milton impressing lately, Philly may be underrated in this spot.

Given their injuries, bettors shouldn’t look at Philly too long when it comes to past data. We won’t be able to rely on that. We do know the team as a whole hasn’t been great on the road, but I’d be more focused on the Kings here.

Sacramento is just 27-34 on the year and 14-15 at home. They’re in good form (7-3 over their last 10 games), but they’re not an easy team to trust and they still lack reliable play down low thanks to injuries of their own.

The Kings also haven’t been great against the spread, as they’re just 8-12 ATS when favored and 12-16-1 against the spread at home. The Kings also do not defend very well, as they enter tonight tied for 18th in defensive efficiency.

Are the Sixers going to for sure win tonight? No, but the Kings have struggled when they’re expected to win and they aren’t even consistently good on their own floor. Philly may have just enough firepower to keep this one interesting, while a straight up win isn’t out of the question.

  • Philadelphia 76ers (+5)

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Houston Rockets – Jerry Summer

The small-ball experiment of the Rockets has been working so far and the team has gained some momentum. It’s interesting to see how their system holds up in the home game against one of the best teams in the NBA.

I believe that the perimeter defenders of the Clippers will feel comfortable guarding the Rockets. On top of that, Montrezl Harell has the potential to kill Houston in the paint.

In my opinion, this is one of the worst matchups for the Rockets and they will lose here. The price of -110 for the Clippers pick-em option looks too good to miss.

  • Los Angeles Clippers pk

Denver Nuggets vs. Charlotte Hornets – Michael Wynn

I like targeting underdogs at home, especially when they’re getting as many points as the Hornets are on Thursday. The Nuggets have lost each of their past two games on the road by an average of 20.5 points, and they cover the spread as a visitor less than half the time.

If Devonte’ Graham is held out with a sore ankle, I could see Denver taking a depleted Charlotte team a bit lightly. If Graham does play, he should give the Hornets the boost they need to keep pace and give the Nuggets a run for their money.

I’m not expecting Charlotte to pull off the upset, but a 10-point cushion at home is enough to get me on board.

Wednesday, March 4th

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Brooklyn Nets – Noah Davis

The Memphis Grizzlies continue their playoff push on Wednesday night, when they head to Brooklyn to battle the Nets. Brooklyn could be a bit worn down after a huge overtime win over the Boston Celtics last night, so bettors automatically need to be interested in Memphis in this spot.

Memphis is trending in the right direction with wins in each of their last two games, while they have a chance to get to .500 on the year with a win tonight. Brooklyn is also still alive in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, while they own a pedestrian 16-13 mark at home.

The Nets are the light favorites here with a 2-point spread advantage, but Brooklyn are just 29-31 ATS on the year and 14-16 against the spread when favored. Memphis, meanwhile, are 32-28-1 overall against the spread and 20-22-1 ATS as underdogs.

None of that gives us much indication as to where to go, but I like the value with Memphis (+105 moneyline) to get the upset. Brooklyn’s natural fatigue after playing a tough game last night also points to a Grizzlies win.

A nice secondary wager is the Over on this 225 total, seeing as both teams run inside the top-10 in terms of pace and neither side plays much defense.

  • Memphis Grizzlies to Win

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers – Jerry Summer

The Celtics lost two close games in a row and will be looking to bounce back against the Cavaliers. They are still without Kemba Walker and some of their other stars are questionable, but they still should have enough to get the win in Cleveland.

The Cavaliers have been struggling all season long and there are very few reasons for optimism. I believe that the Celtics will have more than enough to shut their opponents defensively and beat them on Wednesday night.

  • Boston Celtics (-2)

Washington Wizards vs. Portland Trail Blazers – Michael Wynn

Portland needs to win games in order to stay in the playoff hunt, and Wednesday’s matchup versus the Wizards at home is a perfect opportunity to do exactly that. Washington is playing their second leg of a back-to-back after losing last night in Sacramento – in a game that Bradley Beal expended tons of energy playing 39 minutes.

On the flip side, the Trail Blazers rested Tuesday after blowing out the Magic on Monday. Frankly, I expect Portland to come out firing this evening and win this game going away.

Part of my expectations hinge on the impending return of Damian Lillard, although the way CJ McCollum has been playing, it might not even matter. The Wiz are just 8-23 as a visitor, and seeing Lillard back in uniform is going to have the Moda Center seriously amped up.

Don’t sweat the 7.5 points as I predict a double-digit victory is looming.

Tuesday, March 3rd

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Noah Davis

Fans are getting some solid betting value on Tuesday, as the Los Angeles Clippers are mild favorite on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

OKC is a tougher opponent than most realize, of course, as Chris Paul and co. are a solid 37-23 and also own a respectable 20-12 home record. The Thunder are even in decent form, winning seven of their last 10 contests.

L.A. is well rested, however, and is even hotter with four straight wins. Kawhi Leonard and company offer the more talented, deeper squad and the Clippers are just as capable of playing methodical offense and stingy defense.

The Clippers are 41-19 on the year and still have hopes of dethroning the Lakers atop the Pacific Division. Their road record leaves a little to be desired, but the Clippers are a decent 32-28 ATS on the year and 27-21 against the spread as favorites.

The two sides have split the season series to this point (1-1), but the Clippers are the better team and have a little more to play for. All things considered, they’re a steal with their -155 moneyline at BetOnline.

  • Los Angeles Clippers to Win

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. New Orleans Pelicans – Michael Wynn

Other than losing two of their last three games to the Lakers, the Pelicans have been playing some pretty stellar basketball. The Pels last four victories have each come by 12 or more points, and hosting the Timberwolves is about as “cupcake” of a game that they’ll have on their schedule.

Minnesota is struggling to stay competitive having lost 20 out of their last 22 games. Their last four losses have all come by double-digits, and that streak likely runs to five Tuesday night in New Orleans.

Zion Williams is quickly inserting himself as a dominant go-to player, while Brandon Ingram is quietly averaging close to 25 points per game.

Playing in front of an excited fan base at the Smoothie King Center, look for the Pelicans to win this one going away.

  • New Orleans Pelicans (-11.5)

Washington Wizards vs. Sacramento Kings – Jerry Summer

The Sacramento Kings have looked like a new team since the All-Star game, beating the likes of LA Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies (twice). They have a record of 7-3 in the last ten games and are now only 3.5 wins behind the Grizzlies, with better head-to-head results.

The Kings could actually qualify for the playoffs if they keep the momentum and games like the one against the Wizards on Tuesday are mandatory.

The visitors are terrible on the road and have the worst defense in the NBA. I expect them to take a lot of punishment and the Kings should comfortably cover the spread.

Monday, March 2nd

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Miami Heat – Noah Davis

The Milwaukee Bucks offer really nice value on Monday evening, as they’re mild 4.5-point favorites as they take on the Miami Heat in South Beach.

Normally I don’t like to pick on the Heat at home (25-4), but they’re facing a juggernaut that has lost eight games all year, regardless of location.

Miami has won their last two games, but they’re otherwise just 4-6 over their last 10 games and are still down some key depth pieces in Tyler Herro and Meyers Leonard.

The Bucks are probably going to be without Khris Middleton again, but they are arguably the deepest team in the league. The simple fact is Milwaukee doesn’t lose very often and their 12.7 point differential suggests this spread is rather light.

Milwaukee could also be in for some payback after the Heat stole a 131-126 OT shootout earlier in the year. Provided Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t randomly rested for this big game, I love the Bucks to cover this -4.5 spread.

  • Milwaukee Bucks (-4.5)

Dallas Mavericks vs. Chicago Bulls – Jerry Summer

When I look at the lines and odds for this one, I wonder what I might be missing. The Mavericks should be the overwhelming favorites against the Bulls, even in Chicago.

The team has a historical offense and in the cases when Luca Doncic is not on the floor, Porzingis is usually at his best. Add the strong bench and it’s safe to say that Dallas is competitive even without its best player.

On top of that, he might be back for the clash against the struggling Bulls. The team from Chicago is one of the worst in the NBA and there’s a long list of doubtful players for this one.

Under such circumstances, the price of -110 for the Mavericks to win by at least five points looks like a gift.

Utah Jazz vs. Cleveland Cavaliers – Michael Wynn

I typically like to attack the Cavaliers when it comes to betting NBA games online, but I’m flipping the script on Monday night. Cleveland has won three out of their last four games at home, while the Jazz have been reeling ever since returning from the All-Star break.

Utah struggled on their way to a 1-4 record on their five-game homestand and now hits the road for four games versus the Eastern Conference.

Andre Drummond is coming off his best game in a Cavs uniform, Collin Sexton quietly shot over 48% from beyond the arc in February, and rookie Kevin Porter Jr. is really starting to settle into a groove.

I’m not saying the Cavaliers will for sure win tonight’s game, but the 8.5 point-cushion is a nice piece of insurance to fall back on.

Detroit Pistons vs. Sacramento Kings – Michael Wynn

One way bettors have consistently been able to turn a profit this season is by fading the Pistons on the road. Detroit is just 12-17-1 against the spread as a visitor, and Christian Wood is suddenly questionable to play on Sunday after a right foot injury popped up on the injury report.

Sacramento has won four out of five games since returning from the All-Star break and looks to be on a mission to challenge the Grizzlies for the final spot in the Western Conference playoff race.  Currently tailing Memphis by 3.5 games, today’s tilt against the Pistons is a perfect opportunity to inch closer to the Grizz in the standings.

Look for the Kings to put Detroit away early and coast to an easy victory.

Houston Rockets vs. Boston Celtics – Michael Wynn

Houston and Boston tip-off at 8:30 pm EST on ABC, and when they do, I hope you have a bet locked in on the Celtics. Boston leads the NBA when it comes to covering the spread, which includes covering 63% of the time when they play on their home floor.

I’m aware that James Harden and his crew have won five straight and have loads of momentum as they stroll into Beantown, but the C’s are playing some pretty good ball of their own. Boston has won 11 of their last 13 contests and hasn’t lost at the TD Garden since January 18th.

Look for the Celtics to take care of business Saturday night on national television and send the Rockets home packing.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Miami Heat – Noah Davis

The Miami Heat look to add to their impressive 23-4 home record tonight, as they play host to the Dallas Mavericks. Jimmy Butler and co. have slipped lately, going 3-7 over their last 10 contests.

That isn’t all that shocking, however, as seven of their last nine games have come on the road. The Heat still own the fourth best record in the Eastern Conference and need to keep winning to hold onto it.

Back at home, Miami obviously has their most success and that also is the case against the spread, as they’re 16-7-1 ATS as home favorites.

Facing Luka Doncic isn’t an easy task, but Jimmy Butler gives them an ace in the hole defensively. Dallas has been surprisingly great on the road, but Miami has a direct answer for both of their superstars and also happens to have a slightly better supporting cast.

This is a nice spot to get the Heat at a mild discount at home and I won’t run from it. Ideally we can just bet on them straight up, but I don’t mind backing them to win by three.

  • Miami Heat (-2.5)

Sacramento Kings vs. Memphis Grizzlies – Michael Wynn

After backing the Kings in Oklahoma City last night and cashing in on the bet, you might assume I’m ready to ride Sacramento once again for my NBA pick of the day.

Guess again.

The Kings expended a lot of energy last night, especially being short-handed without the services of their stud point guard. Unfortunately for Luke Walton, De’Aaron Fox may have to sit out Friday night’s game as well as the doctors try and figure out exactly what’s going on with his abdomen.

The Grizz have played four straight games on the road (all resulting in losses) since returning from the All-Star break, meaning tonight’s contest in Memphis is the first at the FedExForum in 16 days. Hoping to snap their four-game skid, I expect Ja Morant and company to come out like gangbusters and win this game going away.

  • Memphis Grizzlies (-3.5)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Orlando Magic – Jerry Summer

The arrival of D’Angelo Russell certainly change the mood of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The team has looked way more competitive and even won against the Heat this week. The defense is still struggling, but the Timberwolves are at least strong on the other end nowadays.

Surprisingly, the franchise is doing better in the away games so far this season and I think that the one against Orlando Magic has some promise. The home side has been inconsistent, so I’m not sure that a spread of 7.5 points is justified.

The game should be tighter that the line suggests and I’m going to back the visitors to stay close to the Magic.

Thursday, Febuary 27th

New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers – Noah Davis

Thursday offers one of the uglier NBA betting slates in recent memory, as all four games on the schedule boast a spread of 7 or worse. This means blowouts will be coming, so we need to figure out who we can trust.

The answer is nobody, more than likely, but I do like the low total in the Knicks vs. 76ers game.

Neither offense plays particularly fast and Philly will be down two key stars with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid set to miss this game. However, the Knicks have a bottom 10 defense and the 76ers aren’t nearly as imposing defensively without their two best players.

I expect this game to be a little bit faster than we’d normally see from these teams, while the defense should be virtually non-existent. More than that, this total just feels really low at 212.5.

  • Knicks vs. 76ers Over 212.5

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors – Jerry Summer

I know that LeBron is out of this one, but I still think that the Lakers should have way too much for the Warriors. Anthony Davis is a guy who could destroy the opposition almost singlehandedly and he has some shooters to space the floor.

The bookmakers dropped the spread to 9.5 points after the James news and I believe that’s a bit of an overreaction, so I prefer to back the Lakers to cover the handicap with ease.

  • Los Angeles Lakers (-9.5)

Sacramento Kings vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Michael Wynn

Now trailing Memphis by just 3.5 games for the 8th seed in the West, the Kings have come shooting out of the All-Star break like a rocket. Sacramento is 3-0 since their week off, which includes beating the Clippers in Los Angeles and throttling the Warriors in Golden State.

The Kings are one of five NBA teams who enter Thursday’s slate covering the spread on the road at least 60% of the time, and I like their chances of doing exactly that tonight in Oklahoma City.

We get a full seven points of insurance at MyBookie as opposed to just 6.5 at BetOnline, meaning it’s a perfect opportunity to grab hold of some value.

Wednesday, Febuary 26th

Brooklyn Nets vs. Washington Wizards – Noah Davis

Bradley Beal has been a man possessed lately. So much so, that he became the first player since Kobe Bryant to lose two straight games where he scored 50+ points. Could he make it a third?

I do think he could drop 50 again in this matchup, but I’m inclined to believe he can get his Wiz the win. Washington has been horrendous defensively all year, but Beal has helped them look quite good on offense.

The Wizards also happen to play their best ball at home, where they’re 13-15 on the season. Washington needs to stop the bleeding after dropping three in a row, too, as they still have a shot at the NBA playoffs as the current 9-seed.

Washington won the first meeting this year back on February 1st and they’ve now won three of the last four games. This series favors the Wiz as things stand and they have more to lose in this contest. With this game in D.C., I like the value with the Wizards at a solid +110 at BetOnline.

  • Washington Wizards to Win

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers – Jerry Summer

The Philadelphia 76ers are still without the injured Ben Simmons for the trip to Cleveland. That’s bad news for a team that is struggling on the road even in full strength.

On the bright side, it’s not like the Cavaliers are playing well recently. They are the worst team on the East, so the 76ers should win this one.

I don’t like the odds for them to cover the spread, but I believe that they will rely mostly on their defense. If you add the absence of Simmons, it should be a rather low-scoring game, so the price of -110 for under 218 points looks good.

  • 76ers vs. Cavaliers Under 218

Orlando Magic vs. Atlanta Hawks – Michael Wynn

Backing the Hawks at home as been a moneymaker all-season long, so we might as well go right back to the well on Wednesday night. Atlanta owns the second-best mark in the NBA when it comes to covering the spread on their home floor (17-10-1), plus they’ve looked strong since coming out of the All-Star break. The Hawks have won three straight games at the State Farm Arena – which includes beating the likes of Miami and Dallas on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

Trae Young averages 31.9 points per game in this building, the Magic are just 10-18 as a visitor, and we only have to lay -105 in juice if we place this bet at SportsBetting.ag.

When it comes to obtaining value in an NBA bet online, this is exactly the type of wager you should be looking for.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Chicago Bulls – Jerry Summer

The Chicago Bulls are in a freefall and I’m pretty sure that head coach Jim Boylen will be gone as soon as the NBA regular season is over. The fans and the players simply want to see the rest of the games as fast as possible.

They don’t play with any motivation and I think that a strong team like the Thunder can take full advantage. The organization is fighting for the best seed possible in the tough Western Conference, so I believe that Oklahoma City will be eager to get the victory here.

The spread is set at 7 points and the Thunder should cover it comfortably.

  • Oklahoma City Thunder (-7)

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Toronto Raptors – Noah Davis

The Milwaukee Bucks are likely to be a bit worn down on Tuesday evening, as they just got done outlasting the Washington Wizards in an overtime thriller.

Giannis Antetokounmpo should be fresh after fouling out of that game, but the rest of the team will be tired and will be on the road in an impossible spot. The Bucks have still lost just eight games on the year and are a blistering 23-5 on the road, though, so I’m not too interested in betting against them.

You could, of course. The Raptors are nearing full health and are not too far behind Milwaukee at 42-15. They also happen to be fantastic (23-7) up in Canada.

This game has a very tight spread and the most advantageous spot figures to be the Total. It’s a staggering 231.5 at BetOnline, even though both of these teams have immense defensive potential.

Add in the fact that the Bucks could be a bit fatigued, and I think this game is a little slower and uglier than advertised. I like the Under at -105.

  • Bucks vs. Raptors Under 231.5

Charlotte Hornets vs. Indiana Pacers – Michael Wynn

After getting utterly embarrassed Sunday in Toronto, my guess is Indiana is anxious to get back out on the court. Fortunately, tonight they’re at home against the paltry Hornets. The Pacers whooped Charlotte by 22 the first they played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, and they beat the Hornets by 11 in Charlotte the last time these teams squared off.

Indy’s depth in the frontcourt holds a massive advantage over what the Hornets have to offer, and Nate McMillan’s group will be unrelenting given their inadequate performance last time out.

I expect Indiana to win this game going away, so I’m just happy the juice is slightly reduced at SportsBetting.ag.

Monday, Febuary 24th

Orlando Magic vs. Brooklyn Nets – Noah Davis

NBA fans get a nice big slate on Monday night, but one of the best plays on the board resides in Brooklyn, where the Nets will play host to the Orlando Magic.

Orlando comes in at a paltry 24-32 and are holding onto the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They haven’t been in good form, though, as they’re just 3-7 over their last 10 games and are just asking to be overtaken by the Wizards or Bulls.

Tonight may not help their chances, as they’re a horrific 9-18 on the road and run into a slightly superior Nets team. Brooklyn is still without star point guard Kyrie Irving, but they’ve often played better without him.

The Nets are 7-3 over their last 10 games and do their best work (16-12) at the Barclays Center. I won’t take them to win by three full points, but I like the value with their -150 moneyline in a game they should be able to win at home.

  • Brooklyn Nets to Win

New York Knicks vs. Houston Rockets – Michael Wynn

Simply put, New York is just really bad at the offensive end. New York ranks 28th out of 30 teams in scoring and ranks dead-last in the NBA in three-pointers made per game. It should be no surprise that the Knicks lead the league when it comes to games going “under” the betting total.

When you flip the coin and study the Rockets, betting the under in Houston games has also been rather profitable. In fact, only the Knicks see a higher percentage of their games go “under” the total than the Rockets.

New York has scored under 100 points in back-to-back games, and they’re averaging just 95.3 points/game during their last four games versus a Western Conference opponent. Being that the Knicks vs. Rockets total is lurking at 228.5 at MyBookie, I’m loving the value associated with investing in the under at BetOnline.

  • Knicks vs. Rockets Under 229.5

Atlanta Hawks vs. Philadelphia 76ers – Jerry Summer

I’ve said this multiple times, but the Philadelphia 76ers are a completely different team at home. They can beat anyone and I don’t think the absence of Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris will hurt them so much.

The Hawks have one of the worst defenses in the leagues, so the 76ers will easily find ways to score enough even without two of their starters.

I expect them to limit the visitors on the other end of the floor, so it should be a comfortable victory for Philadelphia 76ers.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Michael Wynn

The Spurs and the Thunder clash Sunday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, and I’m expecting a bunch of points to be scored. San Antonio gives up more than 114 points per game and especially struggles getting stops on the road. In fact, the “over” has hit 63% of the time (17-10-1) when Gregg Popovich’s group is playing as a visitor.

OKC is pouring in more than 113 points per game on their home floor, they’ll have their entire lineup intact, and the Spurs have to be feeling restless given that tonight’s contest marks their 8th straight away from the AT&T Center.

I was already leaning toward backing the over, and then I saw that our machine-assisted expert predicted that 227 points will be accumulated. That’s when I knew booking the over was the play.

Phoenix Suns vs. Chicago Bulls – Michael Wynn

Phoenix got torched last night in Toronto and now has to face a Bulls squad that will be relentlessly pursuing a victory. I don’t necessarily want to get in the habit of backing Chicago to cover the spread, but the Suns had to expend a lot of energy Friday in Canada.

Monty Williams’ group isn’t very good on the road to begin with, and I love investing in home teams when the bookies will lay the juice. All signs are pointing me in the direction of taking the Bulls to win the game outright.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Orlando Magic – Michael Wynn

If anyone wondered how Luka Doncic would respond after missing a couple of weeks with an ankle injury, those thoughts were put to bed quickly. Luka dropped a 33-12-8 line against the Kings in the Mavs final game before the All-Star break and now has had additional time to rest.

Having Doncic back in the lineup is one reason to like the Mavericks tonight in Orlando, but I’ll give you a couple more.

Dallas is a seriously impressive 17-6-2 against the spread as a visitor, while the Magic cover the spread just 37% of the time (10-17-1) when playing at home.

The line crept up to Mavericks -4.5 at a couple of the top NBA betting sites, so I felt good about locking Dallas in at -4 at BetOnline.

  • Dallas Mavericks (-4)

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Washington Wizards – Jerry Summer

I think that Charles Barkley might be right to criticize the Cavs for trying to fire John Beilein. The players don’t like they care and it’s been ugly on the court recently.

I expect more of the same today and Wizards will be happy to play Cleveland right now. The home team still has hopes for a spot in the playoffs and the electric offense should be enough to beat the Cavaliers comfortably.

The visitors don’t have enough firepower to take advantage of the Wizards’ struggling defense, so I expect the home team to cover the handicap here.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Detroit Pistons – Michael Wynn

Laying 13.5 points on the road might not sound appealing at first glance, but let’s take a peek at the numbers. Detroit covers the spread just 37.9% of the time at home (11-18), not to mention, they’re 0-4 since they traded Andre Drummond to the Cavs.

On the flip side, Milwaukee’s 15-10 mark against the spread as a visitor is tops in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks drilled the Pistons by 24 in Detroit back on December 4th, and that was when Dwane Casey still had Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond in the lineup. In other words, all signs are pointing toward Milwaukee coasting to an easy victory at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday night.

Look for the Bucks to jump out to a big lead en route to winning this game handily.

  • Milwaukee Bucks (-13.5)

Memphis Grizzlies – Sacramento Kings – Jerry Summer

I’m not sure why the betting sites this one as an almost 50-50 game. The Memphis Grizzlies have been excellent since Ja Morant returned from injury and are fighting for the playoffs. They are 8-2 in the last tengames and the team’s confidence is excellent.

They will travel to Sacramento and the Kings are hardly a convincing home side. They have 15 and won only 11 games on their own court. Sure, there has been a slight improvement recently, but I still think that the Grizzlies are better right now, so I back them to win this one.

The 37-17 Los Angeles Clippers look to head into the NBA All-Star break on a high note. L.A. is a solid 6-4 in their last 10 contests, but can grab a win in Boston when Doc Rivers returns to the TD Garden.

Los Angeles remains as stacked as anyone, but they’ll be without top point guard Patrick Beverley for this contest. Barring some random load management, the Clips should be in line to offer some nice value as rare road underdogs.

The Clippers are a respectable 15-12 straight up on the road this season and 29-25 against the spread. They’re just 5-6 ATS as an underdog, though, and 13-14 ATS as a road team.

None of that really deters me here, as Boston is pretty banged up and have a few guys limited in terms of minutes. That said, the Celtics look tough at 37-16 and are a stout 22-5 at home.

Boston has even responded well to being favored this year, going 20-16-2 ATS when that’s the case.

All things considered, there is a slight lean to the Celtics tonight. However, the Clippers are decent on the road and could use a big win to gain momentum going into the break. I ultimately prefer their value and love them as a straight up bet at BetOnline.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New Orleans Pelicans – Jerry Summer

The last NBA clash before the All-Star game will take place in New Orleans where the Pelicans will welcome OKC Thunder. The hosts have improved recently, after the return of Zion Williamson and have won three straight games.

They are still five wins behind the eight place and I don’t think they can realistically challenge unless key players of the Grizzlies suffer from injuries.

And yet, building chemistry and winning mentality for the next season is important. I expect the Pelicans to go for it, but it won’t be easy against the Thunder. The team is one of the pleasant surprises in the West and is trying to snatch the sixth seed from Dallas.

In my opinion, this is a 50-50 game, so the odds of +125 for the visitors are too high to ignore.

Miami Heat vs. Utah Jazz – Noah Davis

Jimmy Butler leads his Miami Heat into Utah on Wednesday night, where he’ll try to take down the Jazz. Miami enters at a strong 35-18, although they’ve been treading water (5-5) over their last 10 games.

The Heat are at their best (22-3) in South Beach, but are 29-22-2 against the spread as a whole on the year. They’ve still struggled on the road and as an underdog against the spread, but they still feel like a value on this NBA betting slate.

Utah isn’t a team to scoff at, of course. The Jazz are loaded these days and own the exact same record as Miami (35-18). They’re also in solid form, as they’re hoping to build on a current three-game winning streak.

Normally I’d favor the Jazz here. Miami struggles on the road, they’re not quite 100% and Utah has been in good form for a while now. However, these teams match up extremely well and it’s not that often you can get Miami as a +156 dog.

Jimmy Butler came back in Miami’s last game and led them to a big road win. I think he can do something similar here. I’ll take the value via the Heat tonight as a SU winner.

  • Miami Heat to Win

Detroit Pistons vs. Orlando Magic – Jerry Summer

The Detroit Pistons are in a free fall and I don’t think there’s any other way to describe their situation. Griffin is out for the season, Drummond was traded for nothing, and the morale of the organization is simply gone.

You can see this on the court as well, as the Pistons lost back-to-back games against the Knicks and the Hornets at home. Their offense produced a total of 168 and that’s nothing short of embarrassing.

I don’t think it will get better on their trip to Orlando. The Magic have problems of their own, but they can rely on decent defense and are respectable at home.

The struggling Pistons should be easy prey, so I expect a comfortable win for the Magic.

  • Orlando Magic (-7.5)

Sacramento Kings vs. Dallas Mavericks – Michael Wynn

With Luka Doncic set to return to the Mavericks lineup after a seven-game absence, the crowd at the American Airlines Centers is going to be fired up. I expect Dallas to take control of this game early and coast to an easy victory.

The Kings are battered by injuries, and as a result, will be extremely thin in the frontcourt. Marvin Bagley might not play again this year, Richaun Holmes is out with a bum shoulder, plus Alex Len’s sore right hip means he won’t play either. If Jabari Parker can’t play either because of his injured shoulder, perhaps I could fly to Dallas and suit up for Luke Walton and the Kings?

In all seriousness, Luka’s return means the Mavs are going to come out like gangbusters. Playing at home, it seems as if a double-digit victory is imminent.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Orleans Pelicans – Noah Davis

The Portland Trail Blazers hope to continue their climb up the Western Conference ladder on Tuesday night, when they visit Zion Williamson and the Pelicans in New Orleans.

Portland (25-29) are running hot with a 7-3 record in their last 10 contests, while the Blazers are right behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the last playoff spot in the conference.

Damian Lillard has largely been a man possessed over the last two weeks, while he and his Rip City brethren have been a more cohesive bunch lately.

New Orleans owns a 2-0 edge in the season series on the year, but the Pels are banged up at the moment and are just 10-16 on their own floor. In a game with little defense, I’ll favor the surging Blazers, who offer fun value as a +120 underdog at BetOnline.

  • Portland Trail Blazers to Win

Los Angelis Clippers vs. Philadelphia 76ers – Jerry Summer

The Philadelphia 76ers are a weird team this year, as their results depend on the location of each game more than anyone else in the league. The organization has an excellent 24-2 record at home, but the stats show a 9-19 balance in away games.

Under such circumstances, I believe that the 76ers are the favorite against pretty much any other team in the league at home, even the Clippers.

We already saw that the visitors are not at their best right now, losing badly against the Timberwolves during the weekend.

I think that the odds of +100 for the 76ers are too good to miss, so I’m backing them to win this one.

  • Philadelphia 76ers to Win

Boston Celtics vs. Houston Rockets – Michael Wynn

The Celtics have quietly won seven straight games and are in the midst of playing their best basketball of the season. On the other hand, Houston has lost two in a row – including getting pummeled by Phoenix 127-91 on Friday.

The Rockets are already limited in the frontcourt, plus Eric Gordon is going to miss tonight’s contest with a left shin contusion.

With that being said, perhaps the biggest reason I’m interested in backing Boston this evening is because the C’s are 15-9-1 against the spread as a visitor. Instances like tonight when they’re getting points on the road, they cover more than 72% of the time (8-3).

I like Boston’s chances of winning the game outright, so I’ll consider the two point-cushion a bit of added insurance.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Indiana Pacers – Noah Davis

The Indiana Pacers have been a mess lately, dropping five games in a row. Tonight they play host to the Brooklyn Nets, who are down Kyrie Irving but are otherwise playing pretty competitive basketball.

Bettors get spotted seven points if they back the Nets, who are an abysmal 8-16 on the road, but a palatable 11-14 against the spread away from home.

Indiana’s recent form is the real play here. They’re struggling to cram a rusty Victor Oladipo into their rotation, while the team as a whole has just been disappointing. Brooklyn doesn’t need to win here. They just need to stay in it.

The elevated play of Caris LeVert and the presence of Spencer Dinwiddie give Brooklyn a shot here and this spread ultimately just feels too thick to bypass.

  • Brooklyn Nets (+7)

Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Lakers – Michael Wynn

The Suns are going to have a very difficult time slowing down the Lakers Monday night at the STAPLES Center. Los Angeles has their entire lineup intact, plus their offense has been rolling as of late. The Purple and Gold have poured in an average of 122.6 points over their last five games – in large part thanks to Anthony Davis shooting over 64% from the field during that stretch.

On the flip side, Phoenix has lost three straight on the road – surrendering 116 or more points in each loss.

I expected to see this total sitting in the 230-232 range, although MyBookie installed it at just 228. Rather than wait until it soared, I quickly locked in the over.

  • Suns vs. Lakers Over 228

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Toronto Raptors – Jerry Summer

Ok, time to go wild here and raise a few eyebrows. The Toronto Raptors are currently on the best winning streak of their entire history as a franchise and everyone expects them to extend that run against the Timberwolves today.

And yet, the reigning champions will be without Norman Powell and Marc Gasol, while Kyle Lowry might not be fully fit after a recent injury too.

The Raptors struggled in some of their latest games and barely won at the end. They will eventually lose and I think the Timberwolves might be the team to beat them.

The organization just acquired D’Angelo Russell who’s one of KAT’s best pals. At the same time, Wiggins is now gone, so the offense should be way more efficient.

The team just destroyed the Clippers without the Russell, but the other new guy Malik Beasley was excellent. The mood is high and I think the price of +380 is simply too good to miss.

Utah Jazz vs. Houston Rockets – Michael Wynn

The Jazz were lucky to escape with a victory Friday night against Portland, but I’m not sure they’ll be as fortunate Sunday in Houston. The Rockets have won four straight home games by an average margin of 11.5 points, while Utah has dropped four of their last five on the road.

As I was shopping this line around the top NBA betting sites, I noticed the Rockets were laying 4 points in most of the spots I was looking. Once I spotted them at -3.5 at BetOnline, I quickly jumped in on the value.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Toronto Raptors – Michael Wynn

I have great interest in backing the Raptors tonight at home versus the Nets. Toronto won their 13th straight game yesterday in Indiana and will be riding loads of confidence into today’s matchup. Nick Nurse’s squad is 16-10 against the spread at the Scotiabank Arena, while Brooklyn is among the worst in the league when it comes to covering the spread on the road (8-15).

What else makes me like Toronto’s chances in this spot?

The Raptors have won four of their last five home games by at least 12 points, and the Nets lost to the Wizards and the Knicks the last two times they’ve played outside of Brooklyn.

In other words, Toronto should have no problems cruising to a victory over the Nets.

Toronto Raptors vs. Indiana Pacers – Noah Davis

The Toronto Raptors look to keep nursing their first place lead in the Atlantic Division on Friday, as they head to Indiana to battle the Pacers.

Toronto (37-14) is in excellent form at the moment, as they’ve ripped off 12 straight wins. The Raptors also own a stout 18-7 road record on the year and are 22-14 against the spread when favored.

Indiana is sliding these days, as the Pacers have lost three in a row and their recent defeat was of the horrific variety. Despite just getting star guard Victor Oladipo back recently, the Pacers could be without him tonight for rest purposes.

That brutal loss the Pacers suffered came against none other than these Raptors. The memory could be rather fresh and given all the other data (plus the hot streak and natural talent gap), I find it hard to get away from the Raptors tonight.

Indiana has been solid enough (18-7) on their home floor, but I like Toronto to stay hot here.

  • Toronto Raptors to Win

Dallas Mavericks vs. Washington Wizards – Jerry Summer

I’m not sure why the line for this one is only set at +2.5 for the Wizards. Sure, they have the home advantage, a strong offense, and Bradley Beal is flying. They will probably score a lot of points once again, but that has never been an issue.

The other end of the floor is where the Wizards lose their games, as the team is last in the NBA in points allowed. I can certainly see the Mavericks having a lot of fun here, even without Luka Doncic.

Kristaps Porzingis has stepped up in his absence and the bench has been strong all season. That’s why I will back the Mavericks to win comfortably here.

  • Dallas Mavericks (-2.5)

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Philadelphia 76ers – Michael Wynn

After correctly fading the 76ers yesterday in Milwaukee, you might think I’m ready to bet against Philly tonight against the Grizzlies.

Think again.

The Sixers are a completely different team when playing at home versus the road, and their splits indicate that wholeheartedly. While Philadelphia is just 9-19 as a visitor, they’re an impressive 22-2 at the Wells Fargo Center. Also worth noting, Brett Brown’s group has won each of their last five home games by double digits. That includes smacking the Lakers and the thumping Celtics.

Joel Embiid was visibly angry on Thursday after the team dropped their fourth game in a row (all on the road), so I expect the 76ers to come out with a fierce mentality when they take the floor against Memphis.

Look for Philly to coast to victory.

Thursday, February 6th

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Milwaukee Bucks – Michael Wynn

I love Milwaukee tonight. The Bucks are dominant at home, while Philadelphia is just 9-18 on the road. Even worse, the 76ers have covered the spread just 28% of the time as a visitor (7-18-2), which is the worst mark in the entire NBA.

Giannis and company lead the league with an incredible 12.4 point differential, meaning blowing teams out is just the norm. In this spot, Philly has lost three games in a row – all on the road – and all by double-digits.

This price has already been driven to Bucks -9 over at MyBookie, so you might want to latch onto Milwaukee -8.5 at BetOnline while you still can.

  • Milwaukee Bucks (-8.5)

Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks – Noah Davis

The Orlando Magic have dropped two straight and are just 2-8 over their last 10 games. Regardless, it’s hard to not love them tonight when they hit up Madison Square Garden to battle the New York Knicks.

New York has gone in the other direction with two straight wins lately, but the Knicks are still just 15-36 on the year and 7-18 at home.

The matchup and talent level both favor the Magic, who still have a shot at making the NBA playoffs. They should capitalize here, as they’ve responded well to being favored (12-10 ATS) and haven’t even been bad (13-12-1) against the spread on the road.

New York offers value as a home underdog, but usually when you get the opposition at a discount against a team this bad, you need to take it. I’m doing just that with Orlando’s moneyline (-145 at Sportsbetting.ag) on Thursday night.

  • MilwOrlando Magic to Win

Houston Rockets – Los Angeles Lakers – Jerry Summer

The Houston Rockets were involved in one of the NBA’s biggest deals recently. Long story short, they got Robert Covington and Clint Capela is gone. Mike D’Antoni has been obsessed with playing small ball recently and I guess this is the natural path of the team.

I believe it’s a huge mistake because the Rockets will suffer in the playoffs and I think we will see a rehearsal of what’s going to happen to them tonight.

They have no one to stop Anthony Davis and LeBron. On top of that, the boards will be an issue. I expect an easy victory for the Lakers here, so I will back them to cover the handicap.

Phoenix Suns vs. Detroit Pistons – Noah Davis

NBA bettors get a big nine-game slate to work with on Wednesday night. One of the best games on the board goes down in Detroit, where the Pistons will host the Phoenix Suns.

There are trade winds circling Detroit these days, but right now they’re for sure without Blake Griffin, Luke Kennard and Derrick Rose for this game. That’s bad news, seeing as Detroit is sliding at the moment with a 3-7 record over their last 10 games.

Detroit is just 18-34 on the year and 10-17 at home. The Pistons are also just 10-16 against the spread on their home floor and a league-worst 10-22-1 against the spread as underdogs.

Advantage: Suns.

Phoenix is admittedly not in great form, either. The Suns have lost three straight and are just 20-30 on the season. They’re a decent 11-13 on the road, however, and a solid 14-10 ATS on the road.

More than that, the Suns are the healthier and more talented team at this point. BetOnline isn’t asking much of us here, as Phoenix will be light 3-point favorites. You can attack the moneyline here, but I think the Suns can safely cover.

  • Phoenix Suns (-3)

Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Clippers – Michael Wynn

Miami begins their six-game road trip with an incredibly tough matchup against the Clippers. Doc Rivers finally has his lineup fully intact, while the same can’t be said for Erik Spoelstra’s group. Neither Justise Winslow, Tyler Herro, nor Meyers Leonard will be available for tonight’s clash at the STAPLES Center.

I’d also like to point out that while the Heat lead the NBA covering the spread a whopping 70.8% of the time at home, they’re just 11-12-1 ATS when playing as a visitor.

With Kawhi Leonard playing absolutely lights out, I just don’t think the Heat will be able to keep pace.

  • Los Angeles Clippers (-6.5)

Indiana Pacers vs. Toronto Raptors – Jerry Summer

The Toronto Raptors have equaled their franchise record for most wins in a row and the team is flying right now. The next opponents are the Indiana Pacers that are doing relatively well so far in the NBA regular season.

However, the visitors are struggling in their away games, while the reigning champions are simply too good at the moment. I feel obliged to back them once again, as I see no reason for their winning streak to stop tonight.

The Pacers will probably cause trouble in certain periods of the game, but Toronto’s depth and discipline should allow the champs to take over eventually.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Denver Nuggets – Noah Davis

Bettors get a pretty tame four-game NBA betting slate tonight, so the pickings are fairly slim. The main game that stands out resides in Denver, where the Nuggets look to get a win to help build on their first place lead in the Northwest Division.

Nikola Jokic has been running hot and the Nuggets are starting to get healthy. The team’s 19-6 home record and 6-4 over their last 10 games is encouraging, while Denver has dominated this matchup with eight wins in the last nine meetings (2-0 this year).

Of course, Damian Lillard is a man possessed at the moment. The Blazers star point guard is averaging a robust 48.8 points and 10.3 dimes per game across his last six contests. He is, to put it simply, en fuego.

While true, this crazy run could end at any moment. A road date with Denver (12th in defensive efficiency) isn’t ideal and it’s compounded by the fact that healthy defensive aces like Gary Harris and Torrey Craig should hound him.

All that said, Denver against the spread (11-12-1 at home) isn’t the way to go here. I’ll just take the Nuggets to win at -170 at BetOnline and move along.

  • Denver Nuggets to Win

San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Lakers – Michael Wynn

At first glance, 227.5 might seem like a high for an NBA game. But allow me to offer some perspective. The Spurs average 113.4 points a game – which is fewer than they give up. The Lakers have poured in 127 or more points in three of their last four outings, plus San Antonio is coming off a back-to-back.

Why is that important?

Well, the over has hit four out of the five times the Spurs are playing their second game in as many nights.

This game will be nationally televised on TNT, and both LeBron and AD have will be locked and loaded considering LA has lost two of their last three games. Add everything up and the over looks like a “green-light” special.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Sacramento Kings – Noah Davis

Karl-Anthony Towns leads his Minnesota Timberwolves into Sacramento to battle the Kings tonight. Minnesota is in a bad way, as the Wolves have lost 11 in a row and enter with a paltry 15-33 record.

The Kings aren’t a whole lot better. They’re just 18-31 on the year and 8-15 at home. They’re also just 3-7 over their last 10 games.

Conventional wisdom probably says to back the Kings at home, but the Wolves have to win eventually. They also have a healthy KAT back in the saddle and don’t have a very difficult matchup in front of them.

Minnesota is a lost cause when it comes to making the playoffs, but I like them at their +105 moneyline here. You can also bet on them to beat a +2.5 point spread, which isn’t a terrible play considering both meetings between these two sides have gone into OT this season.

  • Minnesota Timberwolves to Win

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Miami Heat – Michael Wynn

Once you study the betting data, the Heat begin to scream out with value. Miami leads the NBA covering the spread at home 69.6% of the time (16-7-1). On the flip side, Philadelphia is the only team in the league that has covered the spread less than 30% of the time as a visitor (7-17-2).

That’s more than enough for me to get on board Erik Spoelstra’s group in this one, on top of the fact that you can get a slight break on the price if you shop your lines. While the Heat are -3 at nearly all of the best NBA betting sites, I latched on at -2.5 at BetOnline.

  • Miami Heat (-2.5)

Dallas Mavericks vs. Indiana Pacers – Jerry Summer

The Dallas Mavericks are travelling to Indiana without Luka Doncic which will be an issue. The Pacers have been excellent at home this season. The team has a record of 18-6 and the defense is the main reason behind the successful performance so far.

The Pacers are allowing fewer than 105 points per game and the Mavs will struggle without their main offensive weapon. That’s why I’m going to back the hosts to cover the handicap and win this one somewhat comfortably.

  • Indiana Pacers (-5.5)

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Houston Rockets – Michael Wynn

With Clint Capela ruled out of today’s contest versus the Pelicans, there’s a good chance we’ll see Mike D’Antoni employ a small lineup for the majority of the game. It worked last time out in a victory over the Mavericks, and Christmas Day was the last time we saw New Orleans beat a team on the road that had a winning record.

Considering both James Harden and Russell Westbrook will be on the court, I don’t see the Rockets having any issues taking care of the Pels. I only had to lay -105 to back Houston at BetOnline, so I suggest trying to snag that price if you can still track it down.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Washington Wizards – Michael Wynn

Washington might not be a trustworthy team, but they’re a lot more dependable at home than Brooklyn is on the road. While the Wizards have covered the spread at Capital One Arena a little more than 52% of the time, the Nets are just 8-14 against the spread (ATS) when playing as a visitor. Also worth noting, Brooklyn ranks dead last in the NBA covering the spread just 28.6% of the time when they’re specifically a road underdog.

Bradley Beal has scored 34 or more points in five consecutive games, not to mention, Isaiah Thomas shot 43.1% from downtown in the month of January. With all signs are pointing toward Rui Hachimura returning to the lineup after missing the past 22 games with a groin injury, I think the energy from the home crowd will be enough to push Washington over the top.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Phoenix Suns – Michael Wynn

After inexplicably getting left off of the NBA All-Star Team, I’m expecting Devin Booker to come out firing on Friday night. The Suns 23-year-old guard is averaging more than 27 points per game shooting 51% from the floor, on top of leading the Western Conference with an impressive 91.7% clip from the charity stripe.

In fact, Oklahoma City guard Chris Paul is the individual I would have left off and swapped for Booker, so yeah – I think Devin takes tonight’s matchup personal.

Instead of laying -110 on Phoenix (pk) at MyBookie, you can lay -110 at BetOnline and latch onto the Suns (+1.5). I think Phoenix wins the game, but I’ll happily take the 1.5-point cushion as a little bit of insurance.

  • Phoenix Suns (+1.5)

Toronto Raptors vs. Detroit Pistons – Noah Davis

The Toronto Raptors played last night and could admittedly be a bit tired, but I am loving them in Detroit against the Pistons. Detroit is severely banged up these days, as Blake Griffin is out indefinitely and they’ve had other guys in and out of the rotation.

Toronto will be down big man Marc Gasol, but they still have the star power and depth to dominate this matchup. More importantly, the Raptors enter Friday at 34-14 and sit 1.5 games ahead of the Celtics for first place in the Atlantic Division.

I actually wrote not too long ago about why the Raptors are a great value bet inside this division and I think they can keep it rolling. Toronto is looking to extend their insane winning streak to 10 games tonight, while they have flat out owned the Pistons with eight wins across the last 11 meetings.

Toronto is up 2-0 in the season series this year and Detroit has major defensive issues. Barring some random guys sitting out, I love the value with the Raptors as 4.5-point favorites.

  • Toronto Raptors (-4.5)

Chicago Bulls – Brooklyn Nets – Jerry Summer

The Brooklyn Nets should have a full roster for this one, with the exception of Kevin Durant who’s out for the season. If you add the home advantage, they look set to win the game against the struggling Chicago Bulls.

The visitors are without Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr., and Otto Porter Jr.. They also have several players that are doubtful.

If you add their mediocre away record of 8-16, I believe that the Nets should be able to comfortably win this game and cover the handicap of 5 points.

Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics – Jerry Summer

The Boston Celtics have been excellent at home and hold an 18-5 record since the start of the NBA season. Their next opponent is the worst team in the league. The Golden State Warriors haven’t been competitive this season and will be hoping it ends soon.

The team has won only three games on the road and suffered plenty of blowouts. I believe we will add another one to the list today, as the Celtics will be close to their best. Only Enes Kanter is missing but that shouldn’t be a problem against the Warriors.

I don’t normally like it when the spread is in the double digits but I will make an exception this time around and back the Celtics to cover the handicap.

  • Boston Celtics (-12.5)

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Atlanta Hawks – Noah Davis

The Atlanta Hawks aren’t very good. In fact, they’re really bad. They give up over 118 points per game, they have just 12 wins on the year and they’re just 7-16 at home.

See? Bad.

That said, Atlanta does play at the third fastest pace in the NBA and when Trae Young is cooking, they can be tough to stop offensively.

Normally I’d be all about betting against this team, but tonight they’re +7.5 underdogs on their home floor. That’s usually a sign we should run for the hills, but the good news is that they get a 76ers squad that has struggled on the road all year.

I have little doubt Philly wins this game, but bettors need to pay mind to their pathetic 9-15 road record.

Further context shows that the Sixers don’t make life easy on bettors, either, as they’re 20-24-4 against the spread on the year, 14-17-3 ATS as the favorite and just 4-8-1 against the spread as a road favorite.

Atlanta, despite all of their flaws, have hung somewhat tight (20-23 ATS) as the underdog and have been much tougher to blow out (14-9 ATS) at home.

My guess is Trae Young – driven a bit more lately due to the death of Kobe Bryant – comes out hot and helps keep this one close. The Hawks at +7.5 on their home floor could be a steal.

  • Atlanta Hawks (+7.5)

Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets – Michael Wynn

Normally in this spot I’d side with the Nuggets at home, however, Thursday night’s game at the Pepsi Center represents a tough hill for Denver to climb. Not only are the Nuggets going to be without their top guard (Jamal Murray), but their frontcourt is severely battered. Paul Millsap is still out with a bum knee, and an injury to Mason Plumlee’s right ankle is going to keep him out likely through the All-Star break.

On the other hand, Utah is at full-strength and should be fired up coming off back-to-back losses. Keep in mind, the Jazz had won 19 of their previous 21 games.

Donovan Mitchell is averaging more than 29 points per game over the last eight contests, and Rudy Gobert is one of the few centers in the NBA who can deter Nikola Jokic from scoring points around the basket.

Considering I think Utah wins this game, I suggest latching onto their +105 price tag lurking at MyBookie.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. New York Knicks – Noah Davis

The Memphis Grizzlies are not the team we thought they were at the beginning of the year. NBA Rookie of the Year contender Ja Morant has this team flying high, as they enter tonight with a respectable 23-24 record.

Memphis is red hot these days, as they’ve won three straight and eight of their last 10. The Grizzlies are just 9-11 on the road, though, and will need to live up to their favorite status in the Madison Square Garden.

That is doable, as the New York Knicks are contending for the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft once again. New York is just 3-7 over their last 10 contests and a paltry 13-35 on the season. They also own a weak 7-17 home record.

Memphis is a startling 8-4 against the spread as a favorite this year, which may show they answer the call when the top NBA betting sites back them. They also push the pace (5th) and have a much more cohesive group than the Knicks.

I don’t love the spread here on the road, but the Grizzlies at -145 as a SU winner feels like an easy call.

  • Memphis Grizzlies to Win

Houston Rockets vs. Portland Trail Blazers – Michael Wynn

I like the Trail Blazers to cover the spread tonight as an underdog at home. Damian Lillard is playing like a man possessed, averaging 52.7 points during his last three games. Portland scored 139 points against the Pacers at the Moda Center on Sunday, plus they beat the Rockets in Houston back on January 15th.

On top of that, James Harden has a real chance of missing his third straight game, and Clint Capela’s status (right heel contusion) seems iffy at best.

Playing this game on their home floor on ESPN, the Blazers should have a great opportunity to win this game outright. The two-point cushion is just some added incentive.

  • Portland Trail Blazers (+2)

Utah Jazz vs. San Antonio Spurs – Jerry Summer

No one expected to see the Jazz on the losing end against a Houston Rockets team without James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

And yet, the team allowed 126 points and I believe the main reason was that the Jazz believed their own hype. If you don’t work enough in the NBA, you will lose games you are supposed to win and that’s exactly what happened.

This wake-up call should motivate the team and I believe the Spurs will suffer the consequences. Pop has been struggling to find the right balance and the home advantage won’t help against a strong Jazz team.

I’m backing the visitors to win here and cover the 5-points spread, mostly because of their recent run of form and the desire to move on from yesterday’s defeat.

Denver Nuggets vs. Memphis Grizzlies – Jerry Summer

The Grizzlies are the favorite in this clash for several reasons. They have gathered some momentum, the home advantage is on their side and the Nuggets are missing several key players.

And yet, I still feel that the team from Denver has a more balanced roster and should be capable of winning this match. Jokis is playing well right now and the team both the Rockets and the Pelicans in the past two games from a similar position of an underdog.

The price of -105 for the Nuggets to grab another victory is too good to miss, so that’s my pick for the day.

  • Denver Nuggets to Win

New York Knicks vs. Charlotte Hornets – Noah Davis

The Charlotte Hornets are in desperate need of a win on Tuesday, as they’ve dropped eight straight games.

It’s tough to get behind the Hornets, but this losing streak will get snapped eventually and a home date with the Knicks looks to be as good a spot as any to help them end the skid.

New York comes in at 13-34 and isn’t in much better shape with just three wins over their last 10 games. The Knicks are also just 6-17 on the road and have struggled in this series, losing four of the last five meetings.

Charlotte took the only previous game this year, but it was admittedly a tough 103-102 decision. That said, the Hornets still have a solid guard duo up front and also have enough versatile forwards to give the Knicks some trouble.

This would normally be a bit of a toss-up, but I like the value with the Hornets (-127) at home here.

  • Charlotte Hornets to Win

Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat – Michael Wynn

There are several reasons I’m interested in backing the Heat tonight at home. For starters, Miami is 21-2 at AmericanAirlines Arena. In their 23 games on their home floor, they’ve covered the spread an NBA-leading 72.7% of the time (16-6-1). Secondly, the Celtics are going to be shorthanded.

Not only has Enes Kanter been ruled out with a hip contusion, but it looks like Jayson Tatum will miss his third straight game as he nurses a sore right groin. Erik Spoelstra’s unit played beautifully last night versus the Magic, and I expect Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler to continue leading the way.

Rather than lay the 1.5 points at -110 at MyBookie, I noticed the Heat’s moneyline price lurking at just -115 at BetOnline. It may not last, so I suggest locking it in sooner rather than later.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Chicago Bulls – Noah Davis

I’ve been duped into picking the San Antonio Spurs more than I’d like to admit this year, but their prices continue to be somewhat egregious.

Tonight’s is no exception. The Spurs are healthy as they head to the United Center to take on the Chicago Bulls, who settle in at 18-30 with a 10-15 home record.

San Antonio hasn’t been all that much more reliable as a whole, but they’re the better team on the year and have more viable bodies. Chicago is flat out ailing right now, as Lauri Markkanen recently joined a laundry list of player injuries.

I’d have probably backed the Spurs, either way, but they’re healthier, more cohesive and actually have a playoff spot in their sights. Despite that, bettors get a solid -130 moneyline price at BetOnline. That’s a wager worth hopping on.

  • San Antonio Spurs to Win

Orlando Magic vs Miami Heat – Jerry Summer

Most of us didn’t see it coming, but the Miami Heat are one of the best NBA teams in the East. Bam Adebayo is a contender for the Most Improved Player Award, the rookies are flying and Jimmy Butler is leading the way.

The team is especially impressive in Miami where the Heat have won 20 games and lost only.

Another victory should be on the cards against the Magic tonight. The visitors have been average for most of the season and they are not particularly outside of Orlando.

The handicap is set at 4.5 points and I believe that the home team should comfortably cover it.

  • Miami Heat (-4.5)

Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz – Michael Wynn

Houston was always going to have a difficult time finding a way to win in Utah on Monday. The Jazz haven’t lost in Salt Lake City since December 9th and they’ve won 19 of their last 21 games overall.

When you account that both James Harden and Russell Westbrook will be sidelined for tonight’s contest, you really see how big of a predicament the Rockets are in. Utah has covered the spread 60% of the time this season at Vivint Smart Home Arena, while Houston is just 10-13 ATS when playing as a visitor.

The Jazz have been blowing teams out of the water as of late, and there’s no reason to think that trend won’t continue on Monday.

I almost backed the Hawks at -1.5 at one of the top NBA betting sites in the business. But once I shopped my like and saw Atlanta lurking at a pick’em at BetOnline, I wasted no time pulling the trigger.

Trae Young and company cover the spread more than 59% of the time at home, not to mention, the Wizards are just 6-18 when playing outside of the nation’s capital.

There’s a good chance that by the time the 6:00 pm EST tipoff arrives the Hawks will be favored everywhere you look. Take the value now and lock Atlanta in.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Utah Jazz – Michael Wynn

Not only have the Jazz been beating just about whoever stands in front of them over the last month-in-a-half, but they’ve been scoring a boatload of points in the process. In fact, Utah is averaging 123.6 points during their last nine games – including racking up 118 or more in six straight.

When you asses the Mavericks, you’ll see that Luka Doncic and company pour in 116.8 ppg – the third-most in the NBA. Also worth noting, the over hits when the Mavs are on the road more than 63% of the time (12-7).

Saturday’s matchup in Salt Lake City should be a high-flying affair, and I’m definitely intrigued to place a bet on the over.

Friday, January 24th

Boston Celtics vs. Orlando Magic – Noah Davis

Sports bettors appear to be getting a steal tonight, as the Boston Celtics vs. Orlando Magic is set up as a true pick’em. The value obviously lies with the superior Celtics (-110) here, as they own a stout 29-14 record and are have been respectable (11-11) on the road.

Orlando has been barely keeping their heads above water in the Eastern Conference, as the Magic are just 21-14 overall and a middling 13-9 at the Amway Center. To make matters worse, the Magic are not fully healthy at the moment, as forward Jonathan Isaac is still sidelined and backup point guard D.J. Augustin is also out.

Boston is a little banged up, themselves, as a couple of their players are questionable to play and both Enes Kanter and Jayson Tatum have already been ruled out.

That explains the pricing, but we’re getting a far better team at a major discount. Boston is in a dog fight for first place in the Atlantic Division and they’ll still have Kemba Walker, Gordon Hayward and Marcus Smart on hand no matter what.

I like the idea of jumping on the Celtics now and hoping they can withstand being a bit less than 100% on the road here.

  • Boston Celtics to Win

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Miami Heat – Jerry Summer

The Clippers are among the NBA title contenders and have looked good for most of the season, even with only partial involvement by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. It’s obvious that the main goal of the team is to keep the stars fresh for the playoffs.

As a result, the Clippers lost more games than people expected and I think they might struggle against the Heat today too. The Miami organization made some good deals and with the help of rookies like Tyler Herro and Kendrick Nunn, the team looks competitive.

The defense of both sides has been working well initially, but they struggled a bit lately. That’s why the totals line is set at 221.5 points. I expected lower than that, so I will go for the under here.

  • Clippers vs. Heat Under 221.5

Phoenix Suns vs. San Antonio Spurs – Michael Wynn

The Spurs have won three games in a row, including beating the Suns in Phoenix 120-118 on Monday. Facing the Suns at home on Friday one might assume that San Antonio is a good bet to cover the spread – until you dive into the numbers.

Phoenix is 12-7 ATS as a visitor, which is tied with the Celtics for the third-best mark in the league. Flip the coin and you’ll see that Gregg Popovich’s bunch has covered the spread at home just 31.8% of the time (7-15).

Monty Williams is getting steady production out of Deandre Ayton, and Devin Booker is averaging 30.9 points per game in January. I’m going to trust the data here and fire a wager in on the Suns.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Portland Trail Blazers – Noah Davis

Damian Lillard is fresh off a wild 61-point effort that helped the Portland Trail Blazers score a thrilling overtime victory. Kristaps Porzingis is back on the court and the Dallas Mavericks have won six of their last four games.

Both of these Western Conference rivals appear to be trending in the right direction. Is there a reason sports bettors need to pick a side?

I’d tentatively roll with the Mavs if you’re looking for a straight up winner, but the Over is pretty alluring here. The 229 game total at BetOnline isn’t so egregious when you note that the Over is 26-17 in Dallas games and 23-22 for the Blazers.

Neither team defends well, while the Mavs actually operate the NBA’s most efficient offense. Throw in the dueling start power of Dame and Luka, and this one has fireworks written all over it. I like Dallas to win, but I like the Over a little more.

  • Mavericks vs. Blazers Over 229

Washington Wizards vs. Cleveland Cavaliers – Jerry Summer

Both teams are doomed this season and will be hoping to land a high lottery pick in the draft. And yet, the Wizards are slightly better and have shown some desire to play defense recently.

Their record in the past 10 games features 4 wins and I believe they could add another one against the Cavs today.

The home team is struggling and the atmosphere around the organization is hardly ideal. Kevin Love wants out and the Cavs doesn’t like a team that will be competitive anytime soon.

I believe tonight’s game is tighter than the odds suggest, so I will back the visitors to win.

  • Washington Wizards to Win

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Brooklyn Nets – Michael Wynn

Kyrie Irving is probable to suit up, and I’m sure he’d love to beat LeBron James in a nationally-televised spot. The problem is Brooklyn has lost four in a row and 11 of their last 13, plus the Lakers are the best road team in basketball.

Perhaps the Nets only hope of covering the spread is if LA decides to hold Anthony Davis out. AD played 30 minutes last night in New York and is still recovering from that nasty spill he took on January 7th. With that being said, it appears that he’ll be in the lineup Thursday night at the Barclays Center.

Being that the line has already swelled to Lakers -6 at MyBookie, I suggest grabbing hold of the Purple and Gold at -5.5 at SportsBetting.ag.

San Antonio Spurs vs. New Orleans Pelicans  – Noah Davis

The debut of Zion Williamson finally (probably) comes tonight against the San Antonio Spurs. It seems like the top NBA betting sites anticipate that giving the New Orleans Pelicans a lift, but I’m not so sure.

Yes, the Pels get their prized rookie back on the floor, but he’ll see a strict 20-minute cap. The Pels should get Jrue Holiday and J.J. Redick back for this one, of course.

San Antonio isn’t a whole lot better than the Pels and the Spurs are just 7-13 on the road this year. Fortunately, they’re in solid form as winners of two straight and they don’t need to win here to get you a winning bet.

The Spurs are a decent 11-10-1 against the spread as underdogs and you’re getting a nice 3.5-point spread here. I like the Spurs to get the win (they’re 3-1 over the last four meetings), but I’ll take the points.

  • San Antonio Spurs (+3.5)

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Toronto Raptors – Michael Wynn

On paper this might seem like a thick spread, but allow me to uncover some relevant data. The Raptors cover the spread more than 59% of the time at home, while Philly ranks dead last in the NBA ATS on the road (7-14-2).

The Sixers may have won their last two away from home versus the Knicks and the Nets, but let’s not forget that prior to that they had dropped six in a row as a visitor. Meanwhile, Nick Nurse’s squad has won four straight averaging 128.5 points per game.

Joel Embiid will continue to sit out, while Toronto is finally healthy and will have their entire lineup intact. Add everything up and backing the Raptors seems like a no-brainer.

  • Toronto Raptors (-6.5)

Sacramento Kings vs. Detroit Pistons – Jerry Summer

The Detroit Pistons are a complete mess right now and I don’t trust them to beat anyone. Andre Drummond looked extremely unhappy in the defeat against the Wizards and Blake Griffin is out for the season. We are witnessing a free fall that is unlikely to stop anytime soon.

Not the Kings are much better but they still have several good players that want to be there. I think this game brings a solid opportunity to stop a 5-match losing streak and the pk price of -110 is good enough for me.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Dallas Mavericks – Noah Davis

Kawhi Leonard leads his Los Angeles Clippers into Dallas to battle Luka Doncic and the Mavericks on Tuesday night. Both teams are near the top of the Western Conference and come into this game in great form, with L.A. winning three straight and Dallas winning each of their last four games.

The Mavs are 27-15 on the year and 13-10 at home, while Doncic and company are putting up nearly 117 points per game. Defense has been a serious problem for Dallas, but the Mavs are a solid 16-13-2 against the spread when favored.

Dallas will be down big man Kristaps Porzingis, but the injury situation is arguable a wash with the Clips still taking the floor without superstar forward, Paul George.

The top NBA betting sites are handing the slight edge to the home team here, but the Clippers are a respectable 11-9 on the road and have quite the defensive ace in Leonard.

In theory, Leonard can help slow down Doncic and L.A.’s overall superior defense and depth should give them the advantage here. That leads to the Clips being too good of a value when you look at their +101 moneyline at BetOnline.

Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves – Noah Davis

The Denver Nuggets look to bounce back from a home loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday, as they head to Minnesota to battle the Timberwolves.

Nikola Jokic and company are still in first place of the Northwest Division thanks to a stout 29-13 record and they need to keep winning to hold onto that standing.

Denver is still down top point guard Jamal Murray and could be without big man Paul Millsap, but they’ve been a strong 12-7 on the road this year and are one of the deepest teams in the NBA.

Minnesota does have a healthy Karl-Anthony Towns at their disposal, but he could be cancelled out by Jokic down low. This matchup otherwise still favors the Nuggets, especially when you look at Minnesota’s weak 6-14 home record and recent form (losers of five straight).

I do not traditionally love to bet on the Nuggets on the road, but their road woes aren’t prevalent this year and you can get them at a major discount (+115 at BetOnline). Minnesota simply isn’t very good and are among the top NBA teams that need to rebuild from scratch, so I’ll ride the better team at a premium price.

  • Denver Nuggets to Win

New Orleans Pelicans vs Memphis Grizzlies – Jerry Summer

The New Orleans Pelicans have been better recently and they will come into this game with plenty of confidence. Brandon Ingram is still the leader of the franchise but some of the other guys like Lonzo Ball have stepped up recently.

And yet, it’s hard to bet against the Grizzlies right now. Ja Morant is the best rookie in the NBA and he is pushing his team for a spot in the playoffs, alongside Jaren Jackson Jr.

The Grizzlies are winning more and more neutrals with their performances and the home crowd will be fully behind the team on Monday night.

I expect the hosts to win this one and cover the spread of only 2.5 points.

I expect more of the same against the in-form Grizzlies, so I will back the home team to clear the handicap of 8 points.

  • Memphis Grizzlies (-2.5)

Indiana Pacers vs. Utah Jazz – Michael Wynn

The Pacers have won five straight games and are currently playing tremendous basketball. However, they expended a lot of energy in Denver yesterday holding off the Nuggets. Meanwhile, the Jazz are 16-2 over their last 18 games, they are rested, and they and just got Mike Conley back. Plus they are playing at home – a place they cover the spread nearly 58% of the time.

As much as I like Indiana, the fact of the matter is Utah has won it’s last four games in Salt Lake City by 17 or more points apiece. Until further notice, I suggest backing the hottest team in basketball.

  • Utah Jazz (-7)

Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs – Noah Davis

Jimmy Butler leads his Miami Heat into Texas to battle the San Antonio Spurs tonight. The Heat are a stout 29-12 and 6-4 over their last 10 contests. They own the second best record in the Eastern Conference and are a respectable 11-11 on the road this season.

Miami has won two games in a row and will go for a third tonight in San Antonio. The Heat have won three in a row in this series, own the second best ATS mark (24-15-2) in the NBA and are 8-6-1 against the spread as underdogs.

The Spurs are in the midst of a down year that could lead to the franchise missing the NBA playoffs. San Antonio is a paltry 17-23 on the year, just 11-10 on their home floor and are in danger of dropping a third straight game.

Everything points to Miami, who have been the far better team and simply have more talent. Both teams are very efficient offensively, but the Heat have the clear edge on the other side of the court. Miami also has an answer for San Antonio’s two best players, while the Spurs could potentially be down top point guard, DeJounte Murray.

All things considered, I love the value with Miami as the straight up winner at -118 over at BetOnline.

  • Miami Heat to Win

Indiana Pacers vs. Denver Nuggets – Michael Wynn

The good news is the Nuggets have won three straight games and are currently sitting in the #2 slot in the Western Conference standings. The bad news is they’re going to be seriously banged up when they host the Pacers on Sunday.

Not only is Jamal Murray out for the foreseeable future with a left ankle injury, but Gary Harris and Paul Millsap have also been ruled out for today’s contest. Considering Indiana has won four straight and has covered in six of their nine games as an away underdog, I’m ready to invest in the road team.

Snatching the Pacers at +1.5 (-110) certainly has some merit, but grabbing hold of Indy to win the game at +105 at MyBookie sounds even better.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. New York Knicks – Noah Davis

Joel Embiid remains out for the Philadelphia 76ers, but Ben Simmons and co. appear to be getting disrespected as they prepare to battle the New York Knicks.

Philly is a light 4-point favorite, even though they’re 27-16 on the year and heating up with wins in each of their last two contests. The 76ers have struggled on the road (7-14), but a date with the 11-31 Knicks could fix that.

New York has the second worst record in the Eastern Conference and are unsurprisingly a paltry 6-14 at the Madison Square Garden. The talent gap is extreme even without Embiid on the floor, which means bettors are likely getting elite value with this low spread.

Philly to win at -165 is a safer play, but the Sixers have won 10 straight in this series and just one of those meetings beat this spread. Look for that nasty trend to continue as the Sixers notch their third victory in a row tonight.

  • Philadelphia 76ers (-4)

Detroit Pistons vs. Atlanta Hawks – Michael Wynn

After storming back last night in San Antonio and picking up a nice win on the road, the Hawks should be able to carry some momentum into Saturday. Backing them to cover as a two-point underdog versus the Pistons makes a lot of sense, especially considering the game will take place in Atlanta.

Not only is Detroit just 7-14 as a visitor, but they’re 7-13-1 against the spread in those 21 instances.

Since the calendar turned to January Trae Young has poured in 28 or more points in six of seven games, while Kevin Huerter has been shooting absolutely lights out from beyond the arc. I could see this spread moving closer to a pick’em by the time the 7:30 pm EST tipoff arrives, so you may want to back the Hawks sooner rather than later.

Miami Heat vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Noah Davis

Jimmy Butler has the Miami Heat looking like a top-three team in the Eastern Conference and the team from South Beach will be hoping to move to 29-12 tonight. Miami takes a 10-11 road record into OKC, where they’ll battle Chris Paul and a solid Thunder squad.

I am loving the value with Miami, as they are fun +100 underdogs at BetOnline and are in a winnable spot. The Thunder have been very good lately (7-3 over their last 10), while they’re a solid 13-8 at home. However, Miami matches up very well with OKC across the board and are a solid 8-6-1 ATS as underdogs.

Nobody has been better against the spread than the Thunder this year (27-14), but OKC loses a little betting luster at home (12-9 ATS) and when favored (9-8) by the top basketball sportsbooks.

OKC wouldn’t be a terrible pick here, but the Heat boast a much more efficient offense and a defense that is just as capable of shutting their opponent down. The matchup is a borderline wash on paper, but Miami is a little deeper and I like the value baked into their moneyline at BetOnline.

  • Miami Heat to Win

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Memphis Grizzlies – Jerry Summer

I think we all can agree that Ja Morant is the overwhelming favorite for the Rookie of the Year award at this point of the NBA season. The point guard has been amazing for the Grizzlies and his performance on the court has lifted the team.

No one expected for the franchise to be in contention for a playoff spot but if Morant can stay healthy, this is a real possibility.

The offense of the Grizzlies has been excellent and they should cause all sorts of trouble to the Cavaliers. The visitors are suffering the consequences of LeBron’s exit and they haven’t been competitive this year.

I expect more of the same against the in-form Grizzlies, so I will back the home team to clear the handicap of 8 points.

  • Memphis Grizzlies (-8)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Indiana Pacers – Michael Wynn

Friday night’s matchup in Indiana is one of those unique occurrences where two NBA teams face each other in back-to-back games. The Pacers covered on Wednesday in Minnesota beating the Timberwolves by 5, and I like their chances of covering tonight on their home floor.

Not only is Indy a reputable 12-8-1 against the spread when playing at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, but Malcolm Brogdon has looked really sharp since returning from his back injury. Also working in the Pacers favor, Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner are bonafide studs in the frontcourt. On the flip side, Karl-Anthony Towns continues to sit out games for the T-Wolves as he nurses a sprained left knee.

With the line already up to Pacers (-8.5) at MyBookie, I suggest investing in Indiana (-8) at BetOnline.

Phoenix Suns vs. New York Knicks – Noah Davis

I wonder if the top NBA betting sites know something we don’t. Otherwise, I’m not entirely sure why the Phoenix Suns are marginal 3.5-point favorites over an awful New York Knicks team.

The Suns aren’t the second coming of the 1990s Chicago Bulls, but they’re better than the Knicks. Well, so is everyone, but whatever.

Phoenix isn’t special on the road or as a whole, but they’re very talented and should be at full strength with star point guard Ricky Rubio expected to return from a personal issue.

New York can’t say the same. The Knicks are down numerous bodies, are just 11-30 on the year, 4-6 over their last 10 games and a paltry 6-13 at home. The Suns see an opportunity to get a nice road win here and I tend to think they capitalize on it.

  • Phoenix Suns (-3.5)

Orlando Magic vs. Los Angeles Clippers – Michael Wynn

Everything tells me the Clippers are going to coast to an easy victory tonight at home versus the Magic. LA last played on Tuesday – where not one individual played more than 29 minutes in a blowout win over the Cavs. The team was +39 when Kawhi Leonard was on the court.

Meanwhile, Orlando expended a whole bunch of energy last night at STAPLES Center holding off the Lakers – where five guys played at least 31 minutes. Doc Rivers’ bunch has covered the spread more than 59% of the time in La La Land, and Kawhi is coming off arguably his most efficient offensive game of the season.

Head to SportsBetting.ag and you might still be able to grab hold of the reduced juice.

  • Miami Heat (-5.5)

Denver Nuggets vs. Golden State Warriors – Jerry Summer

The Golden State Warriors continue to struggle and their next opponent is one of the strongest teams in the West. The Denver Nuggets have an excellent defense that should suffocate the opposition and they have the means to punish the Warriors on the other end of the court.

The favorite might be without Jamal Murray and Gary Harris but Nikola Jokic looks like a beast once again, after a slow start of the season.

The Serbian big should lead the Nuggets to another comfortable victory and I expect them to clear the spread that is set at 6 points.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Sacramento Kings – Noah Davis

The Dallas Mavericks have been twiddling their thumbs lately, waiting for star big man Kristaps Porzingis to get back to the floor. Dallas has gone just 5-5 over their last 10 games, yet sit 1.5 games behind the Houston Rockets for first place in the Southwest Division.

The Mavs also have wins in both of their last two games and should be able to keep it going with The Unicorn returning from injury tonight. That, and they get a weak Sacramento Kings team that is just 15-25 on the year.

Dallas sports a solid 13-5 road record and will be at full strength here. The Kings, meanwhile, are in bad form (3-7 over their last 10 contests) and aren’t even reliable (8-12) on their home floor.

Sacramento is also playing without center Richaun Holmes and could possibly be without versatile forward Nemanja Bjelica (ankle). Either way, Dallas is the more talented team and they get a jolt with the return of Zinger.

I like the value via the Mavs with a mild 2.5-point spread advantage.

  • Dallas Mavericks (-2.5)

San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat – Michael Wynn

With the line already soaring to Miami -6 at most of the top NBA betting sites, I was happy to latch onto the Heat at -5.5 at BetOnline. Not only is Miami a resounding 17-1 at the AmericanAirlines Arena, but they lead the NBA covering the spread a whopping 76.5% of the time (13-4-1) when playing on their home floor.

Tonight’s matchup marks San Antonio’s fourth game road game in the last seven days, plus they’re just 6-12 away from home to begin with. Jimmy Butler is shooting nearly 56% from the floor in January, Erik Spoelstra’s group is relatively healthy, and Miami hasn’t played a home game for 10 days.

Everything tells me they’re going to blitz past the Spurs on Wednesday.

  • Miami Heat (-5.5)

Indiana Pacers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves – Jerry Summer

The Indiana Pacers will travel to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves and the visitors are the slight favorites, according to the bookmakers. They expect a rather tight game, though, as the spread is set at only 2.5 points.

I think it should be higher because the Timberwolves are only 6-12 at home and generally have been struggling recently. Their only victories came against other weak teams, while the Pacers are among the better organizations on the East.

They should be able to limit the offense of the hosts and take full advantage of their weak defense. The price of -115 for the Pacers to win with three or more points here seems too tempting for me, so that’s my NBA pick of the day.

Utah Jazz vs. Brooklyn Nets – Noah Davis

The Utah Jazz are on fire right now, having won nine consecutive games. Most bettors will feel the urge to keep rolling with a winner, but something tells me the hot streak ends tonight.

It’s never easy to keep these crazy winning streaks going, but it’s even more difficult to do so on the road. Utah is a stout 27-12 and tied for first place in the Northwest Division, but they’re most vulnerable away from home and are just 9-8 against the spread when favored on the road.

That’s not overly damning evidence, but the Brooklyn Nets have their mojo back. Kyrie Irving has made a healthy return to the lineup and the Nets have won their last two games. Brooklyn has also gone a respectable 11-8 at home and have been pretty feisty (10-8) when the top NBA betting sites go against them.

The presence of Irving gives this team a little more offensive punch and also enhances their depth. Utah, meanwhile, are still down Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell (illness) could be operating at less than 100% if he suits up tonight.

Ultimately, I just love the value associated with the Nets. You can take the points (+2.5, -110), but I like their +120 moneyline and think they can snap Utah’s streak.

  • Brooklyn Nets to Win

Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors – Jerry Summer

The Golden State Warriors have lost 8 games in a row and they struggle on both ends of the floor. That’s only natural considering their injury problems and I don’t see a reason why something should change against a strong team like the Mavericks.

Surprisingly, the organization has been better outside of Dallas and holds a 12-5 away record. Doncic and company will be confident that another victory is on the way and I believe this one could be a blowout.

Porzingis might be back for this game but even without him, the Mavericks should be able to cover the spread that is set at 8 points.

  • Dallas Mavericks (-8)

Houston Rockets vs. Memphis Grizzlies – Michael Wynn

The Grizzlies have caught fire of late winning their past five games, and there’s reason to think they can continue on their upward trend tonight against the Rockets. Houston is just 5-9 against the spread as a road favorite, plus they won’t have Russell Westbrook (rest) thanks to a back-to-back looming on Wednesday.

Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. are riding high with loads of confidence, while Jonas Valanciunas is quietly averaging 18.8 ppg and 11 rpg since the calendar turned to January.

After seeing the Grizz at +5 at a couple of the top NBA sportsbooks, I was excited to see them hanging out at +5.5 at MyBookie.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Minnesota Timberwolves – Michael Wynn

Typically I like to target NBA teams that are getting points on their home floor, but Monday night’s game in Minnesota is an exception. That’s because the Thunder are an NBA-best 14-5 against the spread (ATS) as a visitor, while the Timberwolves are just 5-11-1 ATS when playing at the Target Center.

Word on the street is that Karl-Anthony Towns could finally return to the T-Wolves lineup after missing the past 13 games, but his status is still very much in the air as of early Monday afternoon. If KAT is eventually ruled out we could see this spread balloon to OKC -4 or -5, so I suggest locking the Thunder while they’re still laying a modest 2.5 points.

  • Oklahoma City Thunder (-2.5)

Charlotte Hornets vs. Portland Trail Blazers – Noah Davis

The Charlotte Hornets have been about as pedestrian as it gets (21-21) against the spread this year. Considering they’re just 15-27 on the year, however, I like how we can see the clear fight they offer on a nightly basis.

I am anticipating more of the same come Monday, where they’re huge underdogs against a Portland Trail Blazers team that has just one more win that them.

Portland is just 16-24 overall, a weak 8-10 at home and 2-8 over their last 10 games. The Blazer scan put points on the board, but they’re allowing over 113 points per game. Portland is also the second worst team ATS this year (15-23-2) and it isn’t a whole lot better (10-12-1) when they’re favored.

I don’t mind the Blazers being the favorites here and I assume they get the win. But taking this team by nearly 10 points? That feels like a reach. Portland has a -2.4 point differential, they can’t defend and they get a feisty Hornets team that has the potential to at least hang with them.

  • Charlotte Hornets (+9.5)

Atlanta Hawks vs. Brooklyn Nets – Michael Wynn

All signs appear that the Nets will welcome Kyrie Irving back into their lineup today versus the Hawks. However, that’s not enough for me to like Brooklyn laying 7.5 points to Trae Young and company.

Young lit the Nets up for 47 last month and loves playing in front of the big crowds in New York. Considering the Nets lost seven straight before beating the Heat by four points their last time out, installing them as such a substantial favorite just seems a bit excessive. Perhaps the impending return of Kyrie will push the casual bettors toward backing Brooklyn, but I sense the sharps will be intrigued to invest in the Hawks.

The only question left is, are you ready to fade the public?

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Noah Davis

LeBron James is coming off of a big outing in a win over Dallas last night, so there’s a slight pause over whether he and Anthony Davis will even suit up on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Lakers are running hot, winning seven straight and posting a disgusting 31-7 record. My guess is both play or at least King James hits the floor again and if so, they offer way too much value as mild 1-point favorites.

L.A. has been an amazing 16-3 on the road and are 27-6 straight up in the games they are favored in. Their ATS mark is not great on the year, but considering they’re usually favored by a lot more than one point, I’m willing to look past that.

OKC is admittedly also on fire these days, as they’re 8-2 in their last 10 and a strong 13-6 on their home floor. The Lakers are the more cohesive team and play superior defense, though. The potential return of The Brow would greatly move this spread and make the Lakers an obvious play, so I have no qualms with hopping on this immediately.

  • Los Angeles Lakers (-1)

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Dallas Mavericks – Michael Wynn

Dallas struggled last night on their home floor versus the Lakers, so the average fan might be wary to back the Mavericks on Saturday. Perhaps they shouldn’t be when they consider that Philly is one of the worst teams against the spread on the road (6-11-2).

On top of that, Joel Embiid won’t be suiting up for the Sixers as he recovers from surgery on his left hand.

I’m aware that Kristaps Porzingis will also be on the shelf for the Mavs, but I’m also in tune that Rick Carlisle’s group is due for a bounce-back performance. On Friday, Dallas missed 27 of their 38 three-point attempts and ended the night shooting under 41% from the field.

Head to BetOnline.ag and you might still be able to latch on to the reduced juice!

Charlotte Hornets vs. Utah Jazz – Michael Wynn

The Utah Jazz are in a prime position to blow the Hornets out tonight in Salt Lake City. Utah has caught fire of late winning 12 of their last 13 games – which includes entering tonight’s game riding a 7-game winning streak.

Laying 12 points in an NBA game might seem like a lot, but the Jazz should have plenty to spare. Quin Snyder’s group smacked the Knicks by 24 at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Wednesday, which was the second straight home game that Utah won by more than 20 points.

With a chance to pull ahead of the Rockets and claim a top-4 seed in Western Conference standings, look for the Jazz to come out strong and coast to an easy victory.

  • Utah Jazz (-12)

San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies – Noah Davis

I’ll be honest, I can’t remember the last time I backed the San Antonio Spurs in any capacity where they didn’t burn me. But we can’t bet with biases, and the Spurs offer pretty nice value as mild road dogs in Memphis tonight.

They’re not great on the year, entering this game a paltry 16-20, not to mention laboring through a regrettable 5-11 road mark. But they completely waxed this Grizzlies team (145-115) the last time they faced them and they win this matchup from top to bottom.

Memphis has some nice young talent and is finally healthy, but they’re giving up over 116 points per game. They’re not particularly reliable on their home floor (8-12), either, while they’ve been pedestrian as a whole against the spread.

I’m not buying into any ATS data here, however. The Spurs are the more talented and more experienced team. If they have realistic hopes of getting into the NBA playoffs, they need to start getting winnable games like this.

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers – Michael Wynn

There are a couple of reasons I like the Celtics to cover as a 2.5-point underdog tonight in Philly. For one, Kemba Walker is extra rested and extra motivated after being tossed out of last night’s game. Walker was limited to just 18 minutes in his first action in 2020, and I sense that he’ll come out firing when he takes the floor at the Wells Fargo Center.

What’s really working in Boston’s favor is the fact that Joel Embiid will be sidelined with a finger injury, meaning Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons will be forced to carry the load. The Celtics are 5-2 against the spread as a road underdog, while Philly is just 8-8-2 ATS when playing at home as the favorite.

Once you sum everything up, all signs are pointing toward a bet on the C’s.

  • Boston Celtics (+2.5)

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers – Noah Davis

NBA fans can get excited for a marquee matchup on Thursday night, as Kemba Walker leads his Boston Celtics into Philly to battle Ben Simmons and the 76ers.

Philadelphia sits 2.5 games back in the race for the Atlantic Division. The team hasn’t been in great form (4-6 over their last 10 contests) and are without star big man Joel Embiid. The Sixers have been great (17-2) on their home floor, however.

The absence of Embiid is the big takeaway for me, as the Celtics will be fully healthy. Boston will undoubtedly be up for this game, while they come in relatively hot with seven wins in their last 10 games.

Boston is also a stout 11-7 on the road and have some ground to cover with Philly already taking a 2-0 season series lead.

No Embiid gives Boston a clear advantage, as the Sixers will lose some rebounding, scoring and interior defense. I’m a bit surprised they’re listed as the underdogs given that, so I won’t hesitate to jump on them at an elite price point over at Sportsbetting.ag.

  • Boston Celtics to Win

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers – Jerry Summer

Most people will be looking to bet on the Celtics because the 76ers will be without Joel Embiid. While I understand the logic, the hosts have enough talent to cope with his absence and the home advantage also counts.

That’s why I’m kinda reluctant to back the Boston Celtics and I see another market that might be better.

Both teams are solid defensively and this game could be a tough battle. The totals line is set at 215.5 points and I believe that the -110 for the under makes a lot of sense, so that’s my pick of the day.

  • Celtics vs. 76ers Under 215.5

San Antonio Spurs vs. Boston Celtics – Michael Wynn

Anyone who has consistently been backing the Celtics this year is likely up a chunk of money, as Boston’s 20-12-2 record against the spread (ATS) is tops in the Eastern Conference. On the other hand, San Antonio has covered just 38.2% of the time – the lowest mark of any team in the West.

The Spurs aren’t a very good road team to begin with (4-11), and I expect Brad Stevens’ group to be fired up after a dismal performance on Monday. Kemba Walker is questionable to play after missing the past three games with an illness, but either way, the Celtics have plenty of firepower to take care of business on their home floor.

  • Boston Celtics (-6)

Chicago Bulls vs. New Orleans Pelicans – Jerry Summer

The Chicago Bulls continue to underperform and the team has lost the last four games in the NBA. The team’s offense has been a problem during the whole season so far and most wins have come after solid defensive performances.

However, this usually happens in Chicago and I expect the Bulls to struggle in New Orleans. The Pelicans have been much better recently and part of the reason is the rise of Lonzo Ball.

The guard has scored more than 20 on multiple occasions and this is among the best periods of his career. Ball looks fit and his efforts combined with the consistent excellence by Brandon Ingram would cause the Bulls all sorts of trouble.

The spread is set at only 3.5 points, so I think that the Pelicans should cover it comfortably.

  • New Orleans Pelicans (-3.5)

Miami Heat vs. Indiana Pacers – Noah Davis

Jimmy Butler is expected to return to the hardwood tonight, as he missed the last game for his Miami Heat. Butler and company will look to improve on a stout 26-10 overall record in Indiana, where they’ll battle the Pacers.

Indiana is a solid 23-14 on the year and a staggering 15-4 at home, but they’re potentially going to be short-handed in this one. Top point guard Malcolm Brogdon has missed the team’s last three games and is questionable to play, while star big man Domantas Sabonis (knee) is also in doubt.

If even one of those players sits, Indy will be in trouble against a very good Miami team that ranks inside the top-11 for both offense and defense. The Heat haven’t been amazing on the road, but they should be a bit stronger in the health department and they’re the more talented team, regardless.

I like the value bettors get with Miami, as the Heat are nice -105 underdogs on the road.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Toronto Raptors – Noah Davis

The Toronto Raptors will try to build a winning streak on Tuesday night, when they prepare to hose the Portland Trail Blazers. They’ll have to do so without star guard Fred VanVleet, who has been ruled out for this contest.

Fortunately the Raptors are in good form (6-4 over their last 10 games) and are a blistering 14-5 at home. They’re still down key players in Norman Powell (although he’s nearing a return), Pascal Siakam and Marc Gasol, but the tandem of Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka could be enough for them here.

The main reason for optimism is their opponent, as the Blazers are struggling these days and sit 10.5 games out of first place in the Northwest Division. Portland can put points on the board, but their defense is atrocious.

Damian Lillard can carry this team at times, but the Blazers are allowing over 114 points per game. That’s led to a 4-6 run over their last 10 games and a weak 7-13 road record makes a win tonight seem unlikely.

Tack on the potential absence of star scorer C.J. McCollum, and the Blazers feel like a bad play up in Canada.

  • Toronto Raptors (-2)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Memphis Grizzlies – Jerry Summer

Ever since Ja Morant returned from injury, the Grizzlies have been a different team. They play much better with the rookie on the floor and have won two games in a row. Morant is still getting somewhat reduced time but I expect him to splay at least 25-30 minutes in this game.

That should be enough to give problems to the visiting Timberwolves. The team did win twice lately but the victories came against struggling organizations like the Cavaliers and the Warriors.

It will be different against the Grizzlies, especially if you consider the rotten atmosphere and the rumors that KAT wants to leave.

I believe that the home team can cover the 3-point spread and the price of -110 is more than enough for me to back the Grizzlies.

  • Memphis Grizzlies (-3)

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Brooklyn Nets – Michael Wynn

After each lost on Monday, the Thunder and the Nets are back at it on Tuesday night. Oklahoma City is the better team on paper, although I see some value backing Brooklyn tonight on their home floor. ESPN’s matchup predictor projects that Kenny Atkinson’s group wins the contest 54% of the time, so the fact that the Nets are the ones getting 2.5 points immediately jumps out.

Spencer Dinwiddie is coming off of a poor shooting performance in Orlando, and in fact, the team as a whole seems “due” after hitting just 10/47 three-pointers in yesterday’s game. I like investing in home underdogs in the NBA, and it’s worth noting that the Nets are an NBA-best 5-0 against the spread (ATS) when getting points at the Barclays Center.

Also worth noting – the last time Brooklyn played the second leg of a back-to-back – they pummeled the 76ers by 20.

  • Brooklyn Nets (+2.5)

Monday, January 6th

Utah Jazz vs. New Orleans Pelicans – Noah Davis

The Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans are both playing good basketball right now. The two butt heads on Monday night in a game top NBA betting sites set up with a 3-point spread and a 221 total.

Utah has stormed back after a slow start and are one game behind the Denver Nuggets in the race for the Northwest Division title. The Jazz have done a lot of the heavy lifting without star point guard Mike Conley, but they’ve won five in a row and nine of their last 10.

The Jazz hope to continue their recent surge in New Orleans tonight, where they’ll also hope to add to their 10-9 road record.

The Pels have been decent in their own right, as they’ve won six of their last 10 and are inching their way back into the Western Conference playoff picture. New Orleans still can’t stop anyone defensively, but they have the offensive upside to give Utah trouble in this spot.

While true, I’ll lean on Utah’s 6th-ranked defense and the fact that they have the far better matchup. Rudy Gobert should be able to dominate the glass against former teammate Derrick Favors, while the potential absence of Jrue Holiday may mean the Pels don’t have anyone to slow down Donovan Mitchell.

I like the Jazz to stay hot here, while their tendency to slow games down (19th in pace) could contribute to the Under in this one.

  • Utah Jazz (-3)

Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings – Michael Wynn

The Warriors aren’t a team I generally get excited about betting on, but Monday’s night game in Sacramento appears to be oozing with value. The Kings have lost 9 of their last 10 games overall, plus they’ve been terrible against the spread (ATS) when playing at the Golden 1 Center.

As long as GSW can hang around and not let this one get away, a ticket on the Dubs should have a great chance at paying off.

  • Golden State Warriors (+10.5)

Brooklyn Nets vs. Orlando Magic – Jerry Summer

The Brooklyn Nets have lost five in a row and their offense has been struggling during that streak. That would be an issue against the Magic, as the team from Orlando is one of the best in the league defensively, especially at home.

The Magic are allowing just above 100 points, so I think that the Nets will struggle to reach that mark in the upcoming game. The hosts are hardly prolific offensively either, so the totals line is a bit surprising.

The odds of -110 for under 212 points seem like the best choice here and that’s where I would put my money.

  • Nets vs. Magic Under 212

Sunday, January 5th

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Phoenix Suns – Michael Wynn

Memphis is coming off of an outstanding performance Saturday in Los Angeles, and I’m sure their 26-point drubbing of the Clippers will have many backing the Grizzlies tonight in Phoenix. With that being said, I don’t expect the Grizz to shoot over 46% from beyond the arc and knock down 18 three-pointers for the second day in a row.

Devin Booker has caught fire of light scoring 32 or more points in five straight games, and it’s likely that streak reaches six when you consider Memphis surrenders 116.6 points per night. The line opened at Phoenix -6.5 at most of the top NBA betting sites, but the reduced juice at BetOnline is what pushed me over the edge.

  • Suns (-6.5)

Saturday, January 4th

San Antonio Spurs vs. Milwaukee Bucks – Michael Wynn

The oddsmakers at MyBookie opened the total of the Spurs vs. Bucks game at 228.5, although I saw it posted at just 227.5 at BetOnline. I know the Bucks play at an incredibly fast pace averaging the second-most number of offensive possessions per game in the NBA. I also know the over hits more than 60% of the time that San Antonio takes the floor.

Gregg Popovich’s group surrenders 114.8 points per night, while the Bucks lead the NBA pouring in a whopping 119.4/game.

Everything is telling me to slam the over, plus my instinct matches up with the data. That’s the definition of a “green-light” special.

  • Over 227.5

Friday, January 3rd

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Houston Rockets – Noah Davis

The Philadelphia 76ers burned me badly the last time I rolled with them, but that was at least partially due to a late scratch of star center Joel Embiid. I don’t expect the same as Philly hopes to end a three-game slide in Houston against the Rockets tonight.

Embiid will be on hand for this one and the 23-13 76ers should be motivated to get a big road win. Philly is just 7-11 on the road this year, but top NBA betting sites like BetOnline are issuing them a friendly 5-point cushion.

That’s enough to get me on the Sixers here. Philly is just 15-17-2 against the spread on the year, but they’ve largely answered the call (4-3-1) when sites list them as the underdog. Houston, meanwhile, hasn’t been any better against the spread (17-17 overall and 13-15 as favorites).

These teams match up very well, but I like Philly here. The 76ers can dominate the paint down low with Embiid, while they have the length and athleticism outside to give Russell Westbrook and James Harden problems on the perimeter.

Philly also happens to defend the outside shot (12th in the NBA) fairly well, which could be bad news for a Rockets team that is heavily reliant on getting hot from long range. I like Embiid to dominate and Philly’s outside defense to at least keep them in this one.

  • Philadelphia 76ers (+5)

Atlanta Hawks vs. Boston Celtics – Michael Wynn

Check out the betting value in the Hawks vs. Celtics game tonight in Boston. Atlanta is just 14-20 against the spread (ATS), which includes covering just 31.6% of the time as a visitor. Meanwhile, the Celtics lead the NBA with a 19-10-2 mark ATS, and they have covered more than 64% of the time when playing at the TD Garden.

It’s possible that a high temperature/fever forces Kemba Walker to the sidelines, however, Marcus Smart and Brad Wanamaker will be ready to pick up the slack. Brad Stevens is a tremendous coach when it comes to having his unit prepared, and I doubt they drop the ball versus the Hawks. Atlanta snapped a 10-game losing streak their last time out, but they had dropped their previous 10 games by an average margin of 16.5 points.

Add everything up and Boston should coast to an easy victory Friday night in Beantown.

  • Boston Celtics (-12)

Miami Heat vs. Orlando Magic – Jerry Summer

Both sides have been relying on their defense for large parts of the season. That’s especially true for the Magic have been impressive at home, allowing only 101 points on average. They will have a tough time against Miami on Friday but will certainly keep the game tight.

That’s not an issue for the visitors, though, as they have won multiple scrappy contests already. The one against the Raptors last night is a great example. The reigning champions were held only to 76 points and both teams struggled to score.

I expect a similar situation tonight and the price of -110 for under 208 points seems like the best bet.

  • Heat vs. Magic Under 208

Thursday, January 2nd

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs – Michael Wynn

Currently slotted 8th in the Western Conference standings, the San Antonio Spurs have a golden opportunity to pick up some ground on the Thunder – the team that is sitting directly above them in 7th. Gregg Popovich’s group has won four of their last five games at the AT&T Center, and their lineup is fully healthy and intact.

ESPN’s matchup predictor projects the Spurs win this game 58.5% of the time, so it seems that backing them laying just 2 points presents some betting value. This line could creep up to 2.5 or 3 points by the time the 8:30 pm EST tipoff arrives, so I suggest booking this one sooner rather than later.

  • San Antonio Spurs (-2)

Toronto Raptors vs Miami Heat – Jerry Summer

The Toronto Raptors will travel to Miami without plenty of injured players, including Pascal Siakam. That certainly will hurt their offense, especially against a strong defensive team like the Heat.

The only chance of the reigning champions would be to make this game as scrappy as possible. They are capable of doing that but I don’t really like the odds for the moneyline or the spread.

Instead, I think I will focus on the total points market. The line is set at 214 right now and I believe we could see a cagey game. That’s why I’m willing to take -110 for the under option.

  • Raptors vs Heat Under 214

Toronto Raptors vs. Miami Heat – Noah Davis

Kyle Lowry leads his 23-11 Toronto Raptors into South Beach on Thursday night, where Jimmy Butler and the 24-9 Miami Heat await. Toronto has a respectable 9-6 road record and are coming into this game in top form, winning seven of their last 10 games.

The Raptors are not healthy right now, however, as they’re still down key players in Pascal Siakam, Marc Gasol and Norm Powell. Toronto has done a great job keeping things together, but are +5.5-point underdogs in this spot.

Even so, bettors need to acknowledge how competitive the Raptors have remained. Toronto is also one of the best teams in the NBA against the spread (20-14) and are a decent 8-7 ATS on the road.

Miami is no joke, either. The Heat are stout (15-1!) on their home floor and are also 7-3 over their last 10 contests. Butler and company took the only other meeting this year (121-110 in overtime) and have actually been even better than Toronto (19-12-1) against the spread this season.

Of course, the Heat are also playing at less than 100%, as star swingman Justise Winslow continues to miss time with a back injury.

All things considered, I think this game is a wash. These are two very good teams that play methodical offense and really don’t flinch in big-time situations. I give the edge to the Raptors, who tend to be the better defensive team and give bettors some wiggle room with this spread.

  • Toronto Raptors (+5.5)

Wednesday, January 1st

Portland Trail Blazers vs. New York Knicks – Michael Wynn

The Trail Blazers arrive in the Big Apple losers of four straight games and are no longer among the top eight teams in the Western Conference standings. This sounds like a recipe for Damian Lillard and company to come out guns blazing as they will be relentlessly pursuing a victory.

Given that the Knicks have won two straight games and have garnered some positive momentum, I think today’s game at the Madison Square Garden could turn into a high-flying shootout. I saw that BetOnline had installed the total at 223, but then noticed that it was sitting at 222.5 at MyBookie.

I didn’t waste much time and latched onto the over right away.

  • Over 222.5
