History of Bally Gaming

Bally Gaming originally known as Alliance Gaming is an online gaming enterprise that deals in online casino gaming platforms and specializes in slots games. The organization has also branched out to invest in many health clubs and in the hotel industry as well.

What’s in the name: Bally Gaming?

Bally Gaming owes its origins to a company called Lion Manufacturing, a pinball manufacturing company. Established in 1932 by Raymond Moloney as the Bally Manufacturing Company, Bally Gaming took its name from the first pinball machine game that the company manufactured which was called Ballyhoo. The company was set up in Chicago and ran operations from there until it formed what would become Bally Gaming in the year 1968.

Currently based in Las Vegas, Bally Gaming came into being as a separate entity under the name Advanced Patent Technologies in 1968. The company continued to use this name while it increased its presence in the online gaming market, after which it changed names twice gain, first from Advanced Patent Technologies to Alliance Gaming Corporation, and then on to Bally Technologies after it bought up a subsidiary (Bally Gaming and Systems) belonging to the original pinball manufacturing company. In 2006, the whole organization under the Alliance Gaming Corporation along with its acquired subsidiaries took the name Bally Technologies, which it uses today.

Early years of Bally Gaming

Bally Gaming was bought by investors in 1963 and this helped the organization to grow. At this point of time Bally Gaming had a very strong standing in the slot market which it improved by releasing the first electro-mechanical slot game called Money Honey in 1964.

The 1960s also saw the organization become a publicly traded company after which it got involved in the casino industry. By setting up a licensed casino called Bally’s Park in Atlantic City as soon as these games were legalized in the 1970s.

Bally also ventured into video games and this caused the company’s profits to grow when it released Pac-Man and other popular video games in the 1980s. The 1990s saw Bally introduce progressive jackpot games running on the gaming network: Thrillions, while it also created GameMaker, a touch screen video game.

Bally Gaming and the Slots Market

Although Bally Gaming first started off with pinball, the company has come a long way since then and is now best known for its slots gaming platform. In order to solidify its position in the slots sector, Bally Gaming made some very smart business acquisitions and kept buying out other slots software providers, casino accounting and slots managements systems. Slots and gaming companies like MindPlay, Advanced Casino Systems Corporation and Casino Marketplace were some of the organizations to be bought up by Bally. Other companies that also fell under Bally’s net included two European gaming enterprises, namely Micro Clever Consulting and Honeyframe, which ran slots and casino management systems.

This caused Bally Gaming to become one of the top most slots game providers on the market today.
